The Countryman Inn

Booked for 01/01/2021 and had a text to confirm my booking the day before.
Arrived at the venue to find it was closed yet I had received no email to communicate this prior to our arrival.
I understand we had moved in to Tier 3 on 30/12/2020, however as my booking had been confirmed AFTER this announcement I assumed the venue was still open and operating.

A little disappointed in the lack of communication.

Great service friendly staff food was great and you can take your fog

Not at their best but we can make allowances. They sorted out a pie problem but it shouldn't have happened. If it happened again we might think twice about recommendation

Couldn't resist the carvery as the smell of it hit you on entering and it was amazing! Plenty to choose from including 3 meats. Very Covid safe as you are given a list of the carvery choices and you simply tick what you want - everything if you wish!

We had a very good meal at the Countryman. Lovely carvery, only downside was it could have been a bit hotter. It was a bit lukewarm when it came to us. Service was very good & the staff friendly & helpful.

Had Sunday carvery, great choice, plenty on your plate. Would recommend.

Staff were friendly and social distancing and masks strictly adhered to. The food was delicious and warm. Two of us had sirloin steak which was tender, tasty and cooked just right.

The service and food was excellent. There was plenty of social distancing. Great place to eat.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the interior of the premises looked as if they had been recently tastefully decorated, music was subtle and together these created a very good relaxing ambiance in which to enjoy well cooked pub food. Overall very good

I highly recommend. We met with friends who hadn't been here before, they really enjoyed too. The carvery was fresh and delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly. During these difficult times every attention to detail was put in place for the safety of customers. You need to book and they are very dog friendly in the bar area.

Nice food but the menu needs attention.
I know it’s reduced due to COVID-19 but the food chain has no issues now.
As we go quite often the choices are so limited and getting a bit boring

Friend was very happy with her meal but the lasagne I had was burnt and the sauce dried up but pub was very nice

Lovely food great service. Shame it was rather chilly inside but probably due to not so many people (Covid)

Everything was amazing very impressed would suggest putting gates on fencing into car park as we had to 3-year-olds with us who kept escaping and we thought you had a children’s play area as advertised but in no way did it ruin our day we will definitely be back but without the kids !! Thank you brilliant .... Chicken burger was fantastic I would love the recipe chicken burger was fantastic ... Best I’ve ever tasted Best I’ve ever tasted. I would love the recipe?

Sunday lunch (vegetarian for us) was very good. However, the service was slow. It was 29 minutes before our drink & food order was taken (even though we had booked a table). The girl who took our order didn't know if they had any real ale. It was quite noisy where we were sitting (people on the next table were playing a noisy video on their phone). Although the pub had set up a one way system & table service, people sitting in the garden came into the pub through the exit & were ordering drinks & food at the bar (without masks & not at the place where the screen was). No staff had masks. We were going order a dessert but the girl who was at the till was touching her nose & face. So when she came over to take our order, we decided not to have a dessert.

It was very nice, from last time we were in, could see portion sizes had changed a lot, ie lasagne

Quick and pleasant service

A disappointing visit, spoilt by a table of teenagers next to us, who appeared to be locals, who thought it was ok to use the F and C words out loud,climb over their table to get in and out, and use their phones on loud speaker. The steak and ale pie was nice though, and the service attentive, but we won't return for a nice dining experience!

We have had a meal at the countryman 3 times in the last month and every time the service and food as been very good.

Nice enough although a number of menu items were unavailable...

Good food, good service, despite the waitress not having a sense of humour. Excellent atmosphere 👌

When we arrived after we ordered we were told they had no steak we then chose another dish again out of stock so settled for a third option
The food was ok but no real taste!
None of the staff showed us or told where to get the cutlery and sauces from, just an overall disappointment and not value for money at all

We had a lovely meal during the eat out to help out scheme. Despite being so busy and a few desserts having run out staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent and we felt very safe.

Lovely restaurant with good quality value for money food and pleasant ambience. Went here a couple of times with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. My only, minor, criticism would be the menu is a bit limited in range. That said I'd rather have a limited menu of well prepared good quality food rather than a very broad one that isn't. I certainly would recommend the place for a good value for money experience.

In spite of Covid 19 social distancing regulations, the Countryman is able to offer a wide range of dishes at reasonable prices. The service however is a bit hit and miss, but no doubt as the staff get to grips with the 'new normal', it will improve.
The place is very dog friendly and is participating in the Monday to Wednesday 'eat out to help out' during August.
