The Courtyard Cafe Bar
With an extensive menu The Courtyard Café Bar is an ideal location to visit for a hearty breakfast, lazy lunch, decadent afternoon tea or delicious dinner.
A Courtyard favourite combining fresh salmon, haddock and prawns in a delicious dill and cream sauce topped with cheesy mashed potato. Served with salad
See specials board for today's risotto. Served with salad
6oz beef patty, tomato relish, burger sauce, gherkins, red onions and salad. Served in a brioche bun with skin-on fries
Efficient service which made lunch enjoyable and stress free as we another film show booked in the afternoon.
Lovely staff, friendly, helpful and professional. Sadly only one person (who managed admirably!) serving food, drinks and taking money so large queue and waiting time over long.
Nice range of salads and quiches, would have liked something without egg!
I like the atmosphere, kind of busy and interesting.
Good place to eat.
I booked a table for 7.30 after a film only to be told at 7.30 that the kitchen was closed and only quiches were available with tail end bowls of salad. Poor show. We went elsewhere!
Always good and now they have the new coffee worth going just for that!
Staff pleasant and helpful.
Have eaten here for years and always been excellent , but for the first time it was very disappointing. Had tuna mayo sandwich with brown bread. The bread was very dry, I left the crusts (first time) and there was very little filling. One of my friends had the soup and her bread was also very dry. Such a shame as very good previously. Sadly, couldn't persuade rest of the party to eat here again when we next have tickets later in month. ( Also the very popular fish pie sense to have disappeared from regular menu.) Sorry!
We had a lovely meal here prior to watching a film. The food was good, quick and a healthy portion size; the staff were friendly and we enjoyed having a look around the photography exhibition afterwards. It was a busy service with a happy and buzzy atmosphere.
When we arrived our reserved table didn’t have our name on it. We went to the bar and they confirmed that the booking had been made and we were able to pick a free table. The food and ambience at The Courtyard was very good. We all enjoyed our meals. We are regular customers and always appreciate the selection and freshness of the food.
Lovely food at sensible prices. Service friendly and helpful
Great place to meet a friend and enjoy tasty food Love coming here
The food in the courtyard restaurant is absolutely delicious and fresh. I thought the cakes were bought in but I recently found out that they were baked on site daily and I couldn’t believe it. The banana sponge cake is possibly the best cake I have ever tasted.
As first timers we found it a bit confusing as to where to go etc. There was no guidance as to how to order and the fact that the reserved tables were upstairs was unknown. Now we know next time will be better. The staff were very helpful when we finally got to talk to someone.
Sorry but it was not up to usual standards.
No hummus?? Sold out of one of the vegetarian options (there’s not many any how), vegetarian risotto was bland and fish pie which I usually love was not up to standard with roux lumps in it!
Really good food, in terms of quality and presentation, every time. Good selection of options on the menu.
We eat here whenever we attend evening performances. Food is good value for money and staff are helpful and friendly. For the first time we couldn’t find a table reserved in our name, but this was no real problem as we were on the system and a table was quickly set for us.
Food was fantastic. If I could eat the coronation cauliflower daily I would. And the fresh fruit rulard was amazing.
Food and service were good, but our experience was spoiled by the cafeteria being very cold. We had to keep our coats on throughout our meal. Not the first time I have experienced this at the Courtyard. The management seems to be being over mindful about saving energy!
A highly recommended place to spend the evening (with or without a show) .... a buzzing place to be , friendly people around to chat to , or , just to sit with a cup of coffee on the comfy sofas and let the world go by ! ... the cafe bar is bright and pleasant , the food is healthy and absolutely delicious, choice of tasty salads or hot selection if preferred, good choice of wines/drinks to wash it down with 😀.... altogether, a truly wonderful experience...... JE
Well done great service 5*
Will book again for the next show or film
Usually good so quite disappointed on this visit, although could understand as it was very busy, much of the choices of food had gone, and there was a rather long wait for our meal. Staff pleasant and polite.
Nice meal but the area in the bar was quite cold, which spoilt it for me.
Staff were friendly. Food was very delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the burgers. Table booked and ready upstairs. We were all very happy :)
The service was efficient and friendly however as I do not eat cheese my menu choices were limited
Sri Lankan vegan curry absolutely lovely, even though we share not vegan or even vegetarian. Do hope with the proposed refurbishment they manage to improve the ambience!
Very good and quick service. Great food. Good play area for little kiddies.
Excellent value and good food on a busy Saturday Panto evening. My only negative comment is that we were a party of 8 seated on the table nearest the door from the car park and it was really rather cold! Otherwise all very good as always.
Happy New Year to all
My friend and I had the stuffed chicken which was tasty but very large portion so could not finish it. I’d had this before and was just right. The Vegs were green beans which are not to everyone’s liking so my husband left them. A choice would have been good. We were sat upstairs and unfortunately the bar was closed so had to go downstairs and queue for coffee etc.
The menu has been the same for a long time so it would be good to have a change, suggest monthly.
The staff did their best even though it was very busy.
I visit the Courtyard quite often so look forward to seeing some changes soon!
Sit upstairs as it can be noisy and draughty downstairs.
Food was good, service quick and friendly. The restaurant was cold though, maybe from the door or maybe they needed the heating on.
A super family lunch after a late morning show. The staff were friendly and helpful as always and there was a really happy buzzing atmosphere with a good level of noise to go with it, but not intrusive. We sat upstairs on a reserved table, the food came quickly especially since it was really busy. The meals were tasty and our 5 and 6 year old children ate theirs with gusto. They enjoyed playing in the children's area afterwards too, whilst we had a coffee which was great for all of us. The sun was streaming in, so even though it was a Winter's day it felt really nice to be indoors.
Food is hit and miss felt it was not as fresh as normal and the potion sizes were smaller , I had the chicken burger it was tiny.
Ido like the courtyard and will return but was disappointed on this occasion.
Had a lovely family meal at the courtyard - fishpie the favourite, lovely curry and meat and blue cheese pie - all yummy. The restaurant was a little cold by the door and we felt we could have done with heated plates to keep the food warmer for longer. But, overall very good experience - thank you!
On the first opening after Christmas (?) the floor was dirty under our table with crumbs everywhere. The table and cutlery were not clean either.
Lovely food for adults and children, a really happy atmosphere, quick and good service especially on the busy day of Christmas Eve. Thanks
It was a horrible experience my freind is disabled and we had to go up stairs for a table then down stairs to order then her food came with peppers when I asked for it plain she didn't realise until she took a bite and had a allergic reaction good job she had meds with her
Excellent pre panto lunch much better that the poor French Evening with poor service food ans ambience Must do better for a French evening with a French Flavour Dressing up etc But The Pre Panto was a sucess
We love the interesting salad bar, and the risotto is always worth the money. Staff always first rate.
Disappointed, confusion we went upstairs but sent downstairs. Had booked for 7 but they thought it was 6:30 so cleared our table. I ordered at bar and asked to go upstairs. The lady was helpful and got us a table.
Food was fine. I had to que at bar downstairs get a glass of proseco during the meal.
Confusion, poor service, but better than a cafe.
To be fair the food, as always , was fresh , tasty and reasonable value for money.
BUT we had booked weeks in advance , we were sat on the balcony on the first floor which was cold and draughty....... our table was inlaid and we felt as though this should’ve been laid up ready..... the men with us were drinking beer only available at the downstairs bar and were told they needed to get this themselves.....then puddings .... we couldn’t order them but again, had to walk downstairs to order , pay & collect them ourselves ..... all in all the service was disappointing at best !
The fish pie was excellent but the risotto was mediocre.
Great value food cooked very well. The staff are lovely and friendly though lack of organisation makes it quite difficult to actually order the food at a bar already serving drinks and cold food that needs to be served directly at the counter. If a more efficient system was in place I’d have awarded 5 stars for service and overall experience.
