A lovely, relaxing atmosphere with an open balcony when weather permits.
Great place, excellent food, excellent service, thoroughly recommend
The starters were a bit lacklustre but the Halibut main course was fantastic. We shared the mixed pudding plate between 3 of us; great idea well presented.
Quality of food was very good. Started with scallops followed by a main course of turbot. The restaurant was busy with live grand piano playing giving it a good overall vibe. We didn't have dessert as it took ages to get a dessert menu, we had to ask twice and by the time we got it we decided not to select anything. Pre-drinks at the bar were OK but it is annoying when they have a good variety of gins but then only offer flavoured tonic water instead of standard tonic water.
Overall would recommend as they offer a good variety of fish and quality was very good.
The food was delicious. Nice atmosphere. The service was just ok. We had 3 people checking on us while eating our main course. One after another. We couldn't eat in peace. One waitress was standing behind me waiting for us to finish our complementary fish soup. That felt just awkward and we felt rushed. We felt watched all the time too. Two of our waitresses talked really quietly and we didn't uderstand them at all. We would come back because the food was really good and the prices were resonable.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Could not fault anything.
Lovely, romantic atmosphere! We shared the Fruits de Mer, absolutely beautiful food and friendly service alongside. Will definitely be returning.
Excellent food with good choice. Service was good so no complaints
Excellent seafood based restaurant with a decent range of options on the menu. Flavours are great and service was OK if a bit swift . Panacotta I had tasted good but was a wee bit overset but apart from that my food was excellent
Just stunning in every way. Great atmosphere and the fruit de mer was simply gorgeous
Amazing food, 5 star services from staff...highly recommended
Beautiful Meal and Drinks
Excellent service from the friendly staff
Went to celebrate a birthday and we were not disappointed, the food was excellent, the staff were attentive and helpful with allergies, the atmosphere was very relaxed. Highly recommended.
Good food, great service and the piano added to the ambiance.
Tasty food and kind staff. The whole crab was really good.
Food always excellent. Decor very clean and I’m sure it was expensively done but feels like it was designed by someone who prefers function over form. A re-fit would make it one of my favourite restaurants
Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you love fish as it is always cooked to perfection. We dined on a Saturday and there was a pianist playing very nice music which makes the ambiance very relaxing. Service was good although after our mains were cleared , after some time we had to ask for the dessert menu, but overall we had a lovely evening.
We have been to the restaurant on many occasions when visiting Bournemouth and on this visit we were very disappointed with the food and the service.
The restaurant was pleasantly busy and well lit. There was live piano music for some of the time which was great. The service was good and the food was well presented and tasty. A good well priced bottle of wine was a nice treat on my birthday.
Not sure if it is part of a chain but that is what it reminded me of.
Absolutely amazing restaurant lovely food and great service visited twice on our 3 night stay here.
My second visit, last was one year ago. I gave it 5 stars then. This restaurant is excellent if you are a seafood lover. Try the fresh Crab with chilli sauce. Perfect.
Lovely food but service was so poor. Even when we were the only people left there at lunchtime (not our fault, we were waiting for ages for the pudding menus, then bill). Was very strange that they did that.. It's like we were invisible. All it did was annoy us as cost more car parking time. Will return again though, as the food makes up for it!
A Lovely evening, very nice meal enhanced by the wonderful grand piano music. The acoustics make it a rather noisy environment, but overall a lovely restaurant for a romantic meal.
The Crab is a fantastic restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff are friendly and very helpful. On Saturday night there is a pianist playing a range of delightful songs.
Special birthday treat. Fabulous food, staff and restaurant. Will definitely recommend and return next time we are in Bournemouth
Service very good. Staff willing and pleasant.
Starter 6 oysters just fine.
Main course listed on menu as whole crab with chilli butter breached the trades description act. Several large claws from more than one crab, several small claws and a crab shell full of an orange paste that did not even taste of crab far less contain any crab meat, really unpleasant. Two courses, one drink and a bottle of wine £80 without service.
This was booked for our 7th Anniversary. Wonderful food and great service. Can’t wait to return. They even made a plate up with Happy Anniversary in chocolate and a few small treats. What a touch.
Unfortunately I read the bill wrong and thought the Vat calculation was the service charge but there is no service charge! I would have happily paid more than 12.5 per cent because it was a fantastic meal. Next time. My apologies.
Service not great - with us having to ask for appetisers which came after starters and chase up drinks - each time being told that they didn’t have an order for it, almost insinuating that we hadn’t orders them - starters were nice but mains over cooked. 4.50 for four slices of bread as an appetisers was fair too expensive. Bill came to £175 and it was just too expensive for what we had - service was just non existent. Don’t think we’d return.
Was lovely food service good however found the restaurant very warm and the pianist was very good but where the restaurant has low ceiling and tiled floor was quite noisy
This is our second time here, we come on special occasions for the wonderful Fruits du mer platter which is extremely good value for money. The atmosphere is lovely, this time they had a pianist playing live, lovely renditions of classic but also unexpected pop songs - very relaxing and serene with the occasional hmmm what is that song? moment. The staff are attentive without hovering or intruding and at the end of the meal brought us a small sharing dessert to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great food and an opportunity to dress up ;)
Our third visit to this restaurant, but unlikely to be returning. The noise level was very noticeable on this visit. It was very echoey and felt like we were dining in a canteen. The food was good, but just as good (probably better actually) at Cotes nearby which has a much ‘cosier’ feel and is not so expensive.
Fresh seafood and good service, what can be better for Saturday night!
Underwhelming for the price. Ambience and service was good, with a pianist playing twists on classic tunes. Just let down by the quality of the food, maybe it just wasn’t fresh? Mussels in particular were disappointing, small and stuck together so ended up resembling something from Predator when opened. Sauces were a bit bland and greasy. Have had better and paid less.
The seafood is very fresh and well cooked. The kids menu is also great. I would highly recommend the Crab restaurant. I went for my birthday and really enjoyed myself. The service is excellent.
We had the shared fish platter and it was amazing, will definitely return. The staff was polite and friendly
The food was nice the sea food sharing platter was ok but the tuna was a bit to raw there is no disabled toilets or parking near also nobody was available to take payment for the meal
really good fish menu our ordered was great and we would happily eat here again
Good quality, well prepared. Catch of the day was whole sea bream which I had and whole sea bass which my husband had (or whole plaice). Both were very good.
ALWAYS EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE - MENU NICELY VARIED AND GOOD VALUE
Again the good was lovely but service was a bit lacking (service slow). Felt the place lacked in ambience and was very noisy. Still not liking the refurb. Not very comfortable and bland!
