The raw oysters were lovely, the cooked ones had far to much breading and were not cooked enough so doughy. There was no salt, pepper or serviettes on the table until we asked.
The main was moules mariniere with triple cooked chips. The mussels were tiny and every one had grit in it. the sauce was just cream and so we sent them back. The chips were like a third of a potato and clearly some were a day old and just refried to order. The cod fillet was ok but the skin was not crispy.
We got the bill and left - definitely over hyped and not one we will chose to re-visit.
Poor basic cooking and standards.
Had a lovely meal but the staff were exceptional especially Diana
Would recommend this restaurant
Great seafood, had lovely oysters and lobster thermidor.
The place itself is very nice, I appreciated especially the piano music and the atmosphere. The service is good and the food is well presented. That's about it. Our meal was quite disappointing so was the meal of the table next to us. We ordered a seabass cevice which was well presented but there was so much lemon that you could only taste that. We then ordered a whole crab. I asked specifically not to put any souce on it. The crab arrived and the head was opened but there was no crab meat inside. Instead they filled in the head with some sort of crab souce which had a very very strong flavour nothing to do with crab. When I ordered a whole crab I expected just that instead I got this thing which I won't be able to identify (could have been any kind of fish) and tasted horrible. Both me and my partner left it there we just had the claws. The table next to us ordered a whole lobster but they got a lobster without claws. When they asked why they were told lobsters don't have claws which is absolutely false. Spiny lobster is the only type of lobster that doesn't have claws but if you serve spiny lobster you should specify that on your menu. Also if you choose the garlic condiment expect your fish is just going to taste of garlic. I personally find not fair telling customers they are going to have a whole lobster or a whole crab when that's not the case. I ordered the crab for its delicate taste and I was not expecting to have served some sort of fish souce instead and I suspect they chop the lobster claws to serve it as a starter separately which is again not very fair. My tomato and watermelon salad was again wrong as there was a ton of balsamic vinegar. I was expecting better food from a rosette restaurant.
Nice atmosphere with the piano player. The fish we had was fresh and good, service very good.
The food was amazing and the hot food de mer was great value for the price!
Great food, the whole crab was delicious. Friendly staff
Excellent fish restaurant. The staff are friendly and attentive. It was covid secure. It may appear more expensive than other restaurants but the quality of the food was exceptional. I'd highly recommend it. There was even a piano player who was very good. He plays Fridays and Saturdays I believe.
Our visit was the first to a restaurant for over a year - we had a lovely experience all the staff were professional and very helpful and polite- the food was exceptional, my husband saying it was the best crab he’d ever had (and we live close to Norfolk!) my oysters were served just the way I love them and the mussels with blue cheese were divine- thank you so much for ending a much needed week away from work (both of us have worked through the lockdowns as a nurse and as a key worker) it was a wonderful evening
Table was sticky when arrived and felt dirty
Was told this is the sanitizer but felt terrible even cutlery was stuck to it
If it was an issue they should have used a table cloth
Family were in with a young child screaming for most of our meal
The toilet sink was blocked and had caused a flood
Waiting staff appeared to be unable to cope with what was going on
My meal was perfect however my partners felt like a strange combination of foods
Will not be coming back
Thank you for a lovely meal. Beautiful restaurant, lovely staff, would highly recommend. Hope to be back soon!
Very nice food, service was a little slow but due to short staff so understandable.
Would come back 😊
Great seafood restaurant, the family enjoyed both starters and mains but as the portions were decent no room for dessert!
Better food and value than the nearby Rick Stein's restaurant in Sandbanks
Great to go back to the Crab. The food and service was as great as ever. If you like seafood this is the place to go. We will be back
Came for a date night yesterday and it was great! We had the hot fruit de mere platter and every part of it was as truly delicious.!
We love a good bit of seafood and this is defiantly the place to go if you’re visiting!
They have indoor and outdoor seating, great ambience and friendly staff. Food was outstanding in taste and smell!
No issues and great atmosphere. Good value for money if you’re there to spend.
We will be back towards the wnd of the year :)
Great restaurant and fantastic seafood selection. We will definitely come back again!
From the moment we arrived there was a wonderful welcome. The service was efficient and the food was fantastic. We had the Chief Special Fish and Chips which exceeded our expectations. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough
Food was good, a bit pricey but that’s to be expected. However, the service was not attentive at all. We had to ask for water for the table 4 times and only got it an hour after we had arrived and the food had come. After the food came, we wanted to order another drink and sauces, again we had to ask multiple times, considering the restaurant wasn’t that busy, we waited at least 20 minutes. Additionally, the prices on the menu were not reflective of the prices on the bill for the drinks. We saw other tables that did receive good service, including a table that had been seated a fair amount of time after us, that got water only 5 or so minutes after asking for it. When ordering food I had specified that I had dietary requirements, unfortunately when some elements of our meal had arrived with the things we had asked to be left out were which left me unable to eat all of the food.
But had to ask for plate and to have table cleaned up
Extremely noisy service not great came very close to walking out, food excellent if it wasn’t for me being honest we could have walked out without paying.
Food was very good but the service was dreadfull, lack of people serving.
We booked a table for 3 at the Crab restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food was superb. We had catch of the day a whole sea bream, fillet of cod with mussels and Dorset crab and 2 starters to share. The service was excellent and the waiters very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a fish restaurant try the Crab, you won't be disappointed
Lovely relaxed lunch, I think we spoke to most of the waiting staff, who even if not serving us, made an affront to come any say hello.
Food was superb and service was very attentive.
Overall very good, service was a bit scatty. Food was lovely and really pleased we went to eat there
Very attentive staff .food was fabulous also good value. Would highly recommend.
Enjoyed it - bit pricey and v busy but who can blame them after the last year
Nice place, excellent waiter attended to us, he was very helpful.
Nice trendy restaurant, clean and has a sea view, food was good and staff seemed very young and were trying their best to keep diners happy.
A 5 would be possible with more attention to detail, the homemade bread wasn't and when giving diners whole prawns most top restaurants give lemon wipes or lemon water to clean your hands so thats why I only scored a 3 for service.
Lovely meal. Very good service. Would
Definitely go again.
Overpriced, low quality of fresh produce.
Had to return a main & constantly chase staff for plates, cutlery & drinks.
No organisation within the restaurant and majorly disappointed.
The appetiser was tiny. The starter was tasteless and I’m sure the cheese was off as it tasted funny and I wasn’t well afterwards.
The main was ok but not what I was expecting.
I ordered drinks that didn’t arrive and yet were on the bill.
There were too many different people attending our table and yet lots of things slipping through the net as there was no consistency.
We waited far too long to settle the bill, it was like they didn’t want our money.
I know Covid has hit hard and restaurants are struggling, but they need to organise the staff so they have specific tables to wait on rather than the ‘wander past’ and see if you need anything strategy that they currently have. We had to gain attention at nearly every step of the process.
We won’t be dining here again sadly.
Our group enjoyed the night very much.
The only criticism is that you charge far too for the scallops. It worked out £4 a scallop.and they only got 3 on the plate. £12 is very expensive for what they had.
Other than this we all had a great time.
Lovely meal and lovely service couldn’t fault it !
We had to wait 40 minutes for a started that didn’t need to be cooked as they mis placed the order. However the food was amazing. Once the staff are trained it will be a great place.
Beautiful meal for my partners 60th. Will definitely return
Beautifully presented and cooked fish. Wine choice limited as lack of stock that evening.
Service as not included but Top service which merited a decent 20% tip.
Lovely place with pianist playing. Will return
Great reviews thought would try it out, booked in advance.
Food excellent, tasty and good quality.
One complaint, dish would be better for shells and bread to go with mussels.
Service a little slow and had to ask for wine order ten minutes after ordering.
Great seating in bar after dinner but cocktails were bland served in small and incorrect glasses and small measures for cocktails; Mai Tai, cosmopolitan and pina colada.
Overall excellent dining experience and would return.
Booked a table for 9:15pm for my family consisting of two children.
Was kept waiting 5 minutes on arrival before we were taken to a table (which was sticky to the touch).
Waited a further 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken.
A further 15 minutes for our food order to be taken.
To be fair our starters were brought over not too long after.
However our main course didn’t arrive for over an hour after our order was taken.
By then my youngest child was tired and restless.
It’s a shame as we were looking forward to a nice evening.
Decent food, very poor service and questionable hygiene. Therefore won’t be returning.
Booked a table for Bank Holiday Monday 8.30 pm
Got showed to our seats, 15 minutes went by before anyone came to our table. We ordered 2 cocktails for an aperitif and a bottle of champagne for dinner. Nearly twenty minutes passed, they both came together. We were told that the only champagne was the most expensive Dom Perignon or house champagne, a price difference of over £100. Needless to say we ordered the house champagne. On complaining to the manager for the night he said it was on the house after telling him about our experience so far, we didn’t even finish it as it tasted like cheap Prosecco.
During that period a waitress spilled oil on the floor. We told the restaurant twice as there was a heavily pregnant woman on the next table. Nothing was done till a waitress slipped and fell. A different waitress turned up with a wet Covid mask to wipe it, I advised that a mop would probably be better.
All in all the food was average enough but I think on the night there were too many inexperienced staff on duty, mostly young students.
Definitely wouldn’t go back. Such a shame as it could be a fabulous venue.
Very overpriced for what it is. The staff were friendly but poorly organised running of the floor.
