The Cridford Inn
Dating back to 825AD The Cridford Inn is a charming 1,000 year old Devon longhouse that has kept its character. This delightful free-house is family run by Paul & Ness with Sean heading up the kitchen. Our food is the best locally sourced ingredients we can find lovingly prepared in our kitchen by a team of passionate, talented chefs. Our well kept local Ales, interesting wines and extensive range of spirits (especially our 80 different Gins) make relaxing in our dog friendly bar with log burning fires a pleasure. Our stunning dining room makes you feel like you have stepped back in time (or entered the set of Game of Thrones) We can host parties and special events, speak to Ness or Paul for more information.

Lovely people and lovely atmosphere!
Food was good, would definitely be returning
We eat Sunday lunch here last Nov for a family celebration - it was brilliant all round, great menu choice, super service and a great atmosphere, good value. It is not local for us circa one hour but we returned for Sunday lunch with family again on Sunday 23rd Feb.
Very different standard, very limited menu as an example there were sharing platters as starters last time, only one desert available, very inattentive service and portions inadequate so a totally different experience much to our surprise.
Great food. Good sized portion. Excellent customer service
Excellent food (pies). Good beer and a friendly atmosphere.
We have now been three times since the first week in January after a long absence!
The food is very good, I had roast beef for Sunday lunch and it just melted in the mouth and the vegetables were crunchy, perfect!
The guy running it now is such a good host , always smiling ,friendly and very happy to light the fire if it is not already lit.
It is a very welcoming place and we thoroughly recommend it.
I met two friends here who had travelled from Wales. I recommended this pub on the basis that it had a log fire. It was raining as usual and cold. We were all cold and it sadly spoiled the experience. The food was good. The service wasn't great - I had to ask for condiments twice.
Great varied menu. Something for everyone. Attentive staff. Amazing choice of gins but staff not that knowledgeable on them. Lovely old pub.
Excellent pie and pint in this characterful pub! Superb service.
Mixed meal, most items were good, but the burger was very overcooked. Service was a bit slow, but overall everything was perfectly acceptable and good value
A beautiful, traditional country pub. A very warm welcome by the Landlord and very efficient service. A good choice on the menu and food cooked perfectly. Having our second main course free was an excellent offer. We will definitely return. So pleased these traditional pubs still exist.
Lovely food had sone roast left so had that delicious!
The owners have done well to keep the olde world feel and friendly atmosphere. Cannot fault the service we received and the food all four of us had was excellent. Great menu choice especially for those with allergies or vegan/vegetarian preferences. Great selection of drinks and the mulled wine went down very well.
Plenty of parking and well worth the trip to enjoy the great food and service. We will be going again soon as we enjoyed it so much.
Always the best place to go for a fantastic Sunday Roast after a refreshing walk at Haldon Forest Park.
Lovely new menu absolutely delicious. Sharing platters are a must !
Excellent food, very attentive service and reasonable price. Good gluten free options. Will be back to sample new menu in the near future
Good menu choice, food was piping hot and the quality was very good. We were there on a Monday lunch and it was very quiet so not able to tell what the ambience would be like on a busier day.
We met up as an extended family to celebrate a birthday. The welcome was warm and homely. The service was outstanding. It was one of the best family Sunday lunches I have ever had! All plates were clean, everybody was happy and it was an excellent occasion. Thank you Cridford Inn!
Lovely 2 course lunch for £10.00
A nice meal in a fine old pub. Very reasonable in price and wish I had a recipe for the way the chef cooked the chickpeas that where part of the main course of Belly Pork. My friend and I ate too much which is always a sign that the food is good. Definitely above average for a pub.
Awesome properly coojed beef, unlike most uk restaurants, lovely selection of veg, friendy staff in lovely atmosphere
Great pub, great grub, super service and excellent atmosphere.
Really super Sunday lunch empty plates all round . Vegan nut roast amazing ! Staff are really lovely too
Excellent Sunday roast. Family friendly atmosphere. The service was swift in spite of the pub being completely full. The beer was good too.
Lovely pub/restaurant with lovely helpful friendly staff. Food was amazing
What a charming old pub with fantastic food.
A welcoming atmosphere and good service. We dined on a Wednesday night which appears to be men’s night at the pub, but this took nothing away from the quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
Tucked away in a small village yet only 10 mins from where we were staying at Finlake.
I would definitely recommend anyone to try this establishment.
This little pub is friendly and the food was excellent. We were luckily it was pie and pint night! The waitress told us all food is home made and the pie was delicious!
Excellent food and beer. The pies are amazing. There's a lovely roaring fire in the hearth and the ambiance is superb.
Our first time at this lovely old pub and what a wonderful welcome. Such friendly people served us and the Sunday roast was delicious. A great pub and we’ll definitely be back.
Menu was different on line to what was on offer when we arrived. No prosecco ,very limited menu,no choice of steaks.
Very nice traditional Devonshire pub in most beautiful surroundings.
We found the crickdord inn very friendly and the service and food were excellent.
The food was excellent, the tastiest meal I've ever had in a pub restaurant. Worthy of 5 stars
The fish pie was missing and the fillet steak was overpriced for the quality
Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback Sue. I am sorry your visit did not live up to your expectation. Our steaks are usually highly praised, I'm so sorry yours wasn't. I would love the opportunity to make it up to you and hopefully demonstrate your disappointing experience was a rare one off.
A very pleasant & quiet place to enjoy a Sunday roast & delicious desserts. Happy to go there again and to recommend to friends.
Thank you for your feedback Myles. We hope we see you again soon.
Beautifully presented door that was tasty and well cooked. All specific dietary needs taken into consideration. Attentive staff and excellent range of drinks from the bar.
Thank you for your lovely review and feedback Kate. We hope to see you again soon.

Value for money good
Thanks for feedback and 5 stars.
Was staying close to the Cridford Inn whilst on a family holiday - what a gem this place is! We ate there 3 nights, and two of our men folk escaped for a drink on another evening. All food was stunning and served piping hot. Very reasonably priced for such high quality. The staff were very welcoming. Dog & kid friendly too. The building, being so old, is breathtaking - so many original features. All furniture and decor is sympathetic to the age of the rooms. Will definitely visit the area again, some 280 miles from home, just to be able to return to the warmth and ambience of The Cridford.
Was planning on going to the nobody inn but saw on their website that they were suggesting the cridford inn so we tried them instead. Whole experience was spot on so would recommend it :-)
Excellent food with a lovely cosy atmosphere. Staff were polite, well trained and approachable.
