The Cross House Inn
Had a great night at the Cross House. We visited on a Saturday night, the pub was fully booked and yet the food, service and ambiance was first class. Large car park. My only slight complaint was the service charge added when paying the bill. We were asked to rate the service on the card reader, I elected excellent and the service charge was over 20% of the bill and way too much. Nothing was explained. Pity.
A excellent meal , great friendly service , well worth booking in advance to make sure you have a table to save any disappointment.
Lovely table by the widow, so could watch food being prepared and taken out. Relaxed atmosphere, good ambience. Excellent fish and chips, and the mussels in cider and cream were delicious. Attentive, friendly staff, would definitely return to try different dishes on the menu.
The food was of good quality, so you pay a little more, steak meal was excellent, but not a big meal, would of been between if had option to purchase sides e.g. garlic bread or onion rings maybe.
First time and ... wow. Really good food in a relaxed and unfussy atmosphere. Beautifully renovated place. Light and airy. Homemade desserts. The soufflé was excellent and the sea bass on chowder fantastic.
Excellent menu choice and tasty food. Lovely country pub and great service.
The food was fabulous the staff and service was great as always .
The bar area was very attractive and light . Unfortunately I had the only seat facing directly into
the sun , but the staff quickly improvised a temporary paper window blind to rectify this . We visited
on Sunday lunchtime and 2 of our party chose the pork , another the lamb . All were very satisfied .
I chose the fish and chips which were also very good with excellent crispy chips almost like mini roast
The food was well presented at very good prices. We were all too full to sample the dessert menu ,
which also looked very good.
The only things which disappointed were the noise level in the extremely crowded bar ( there was a local
marathon taking place that day ) and the fact that on your website I selected restaurant area rather than
bar area , but found we were seated in the bar . You did not tell us about this . However , we would certainly
return , but would check local events first
Bar area very noisy. The food was average,I'm not a fussy eater but found it hard to find something to eat. I had the chicken Kiev,it was burnt and didn't have much taste. We had heard good things about the pub since it had reopened but my party all said that we don't need to go there again. The menu is trying to be something it's not to many ingredients used.Keep it simple.
We had a very good lunch with good friends in smart surroundings..
Just phenomenal! Such beautifully cooked dishes for fantastic value. This is the third time we’ve been here and every time the food (every dish) and the overall experience has been superb. This is now our local favourite!!
Lovely to have locally sourced food, well presented and very tasty. We look forward to returning Sunday week.
Beautifully furnished to a high standard, very busy and glad we were sat in conservatory area as the bar was very loud . Great food and staff fantastic.
Great food in a completely reinvented country pub. Looking forward to returning in the summer to try out summer drinks in the garden
Amazing food and fantastic service, best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time.
We can’t wait to return
The Cross House Inn is our local pub and having been without it for several months whilst it was being refurbished, we are delighted to have it back again! The pub has been refurbished to an extremely high standard and it still retains its old "coaching inn" atmosphere but in a 21st century style. The staff are young, enthusiastic, polite and very attentive. There is a good selection of food - lunch and evening - as well as a very comprehensive wine list. The cost of the food and drinks reflect the high standard which this pub is aiming to achieve so it makes for an extremely entertaining venue whether is be lunch or dinner. We are looking forward to the summer when hopefully the weather will improve and enjoy eating/drinking outside in the pub garden. We have visited numerous times since the pub re-opened in September last year and have dined in either the bar area or the snug. The conservatory restaurant looks lovely and very impressive but rumour has it that the acoustics could make it somewhat noisy. We cannot comment because we have not eaten in the conservatory - yet!
Love what they have done with the pub and the food is very good. Only complaint is that the noise level is high which makes it difficult to have a conversation and this is not helped by having music playing.
Good quality food god choice of menu and great place nice friendly staff.
Excellant food - great atmosphere and really good customer service
Lovely country pub. Excellent food & ambience. Visited many times & always enjoyable. Friendly helpful staff
We really enjoyed all the meals we had. Two of us had Venison pie which was delicious..Good wine and fab desserts..
Very nice refurbishment. Nice atmosphere. The Sunday roast was very good, though bit disappointed with the apple crumble.
Nice food, not cheap however. Service a little haphazard as starter plates removed before we’d even ordered! Then taken away once we’d ordered. Ok we didn’t go for starters but we might’ve wanted to use the side plates. Overall though a nice experience.
Lovely pub, nice setting and good food. Very friendly staff.
Lovely evening, very welcoming from the minute we walked through the door. First visit since it's been re-opened after major refurb - will definitely be back. Thank you for a great evening for birthday celebrations.
A lovely country pub which has been beautifully refurbished.
Excellent place to dine, inspired renovation with welcoming and friendly staff. The food was amazing well cooked and service impeccable.
We are really pleased to have a place like this in our neighbourhood. It manages to combine still being a 'real pub', at the front in the bar area, with gourmet quality food in the restaurant. The refurbishment has been tasteful and creates a peaceful, attractive and quite luxurious ambience. I'm looking forward to the summer, when the restaurant can open out on to the lawned area outside. My only suggestion for improvement is the accoustic in the bar area, where the stone tiles with hardly any soft furnishing makes the noise level a little uncomfortable at busy times.
I was using this pub for the first time following a recommendation. It's recently been refurbished and is nicely done. Four of us met for lunch and had a main meal, desert and coffee. The food was swiftly delivered and excellent. The service was friendly and very efficient. None of us had any complaints about anything. I can definitely recommend it.
Great pub as always good service good food and a pleasure to visit
Great meal and we all really enjoyed. Minor point - my wife likes an archers and lemonade but you don’t currently stock archers. Something to consider?
Hands down one of the best roast dinners ive had out in a long time. Very friendly, polite an helpful all the staff were. Already trying to find a time i can go back.
First time visit since the refurbishment and what an amazing transformation. The old and new blended beautifully, the service was excellent and the food... was absolutely wonderful! Definitely top of my list for dining out.
A relatively newly reopened pub and a great result. Modern, homely, friendly. Great food and service. Will be back!
Another good night out with great food and drink along with friendly, quick and knowledgeable service. One very minor quibble - no espresso cups.
Excellent venue, good choice of delicious food including veggie. Will definitely be back!
We were recommended by a family member and the Pub was beautiful having opened only 4 months ago, the food was excellent as was the friendly service, the only problem was both the food and plate was not hot which is not what you would expect for a Sunday Roast.
Our First visit to The Cross Hands after reading good reviews and we weren’t disappointed, we will be back. Not the biggest menu choice but enough. Very friendly helpful staff and very nice decor as it has recently been refurbished.
Newly refurbished this place is a little gem , can’t wait for the summer to enjoy the patio and garden .
Friendly staff and great food . Can definitely recommend it
Our second visit to the Cross House and certainly not our last. The menu choice was excellent and the food wine and service was just perfect. Thanks
