Great atmosphere and really good service. Lots of fun and DELICIOUS home made cucumber gin. Lots of fun.
A nice ambience and pleasant staff. Food was good but not special
Sunday lunch was delicious - excellent beef. Nice bright environment and quiet enough to chat. Pet friendly too.
This is a hidden gem in Chelsea that has been feeding locals for over 10 years.
Ambiance very sophisticated yet comfortable, exceptional wine list and great menu and staff.
Good food and atmosphere.
Staff welcoming but hard to get attention at times.
Lovely Sunday lunch with my parents. The pub is very clean and modern whilst keeping the pub experience authentic. Will be returning!
After initial start of bad service, seated but no menus given or drinks taken for 10 minutes it picked up once we made ourselves know and both food and service were outstanding. Cucumber starter of was really one of the nicest refreshing dishes tasted in awhile. Sunday roasts were great and just that extra bit special in taste.
Another great meal. Cucumber gazpacho with mint and cucumber sorbet was fabulous. Mains up to the usual high standard. May bien!
We had a great evening despite some hiccups! WHY is there only ONE drinks menu (note, not the wine list) and why do you have a junior serving drinks???
Had to remind the staff 3 times about bringing the glasses of champagne I had pre-ordered and paid for...sloppy!
the quality remains the same but of course success has meant price hikes and portion reductions......however I would certainly visit again.
Excellent gastropub with a stylish feel. Can be busy which stretches the staff but the setting makes up for it.
Really lovely ambience and good food. However, the evening was spoilt by the terrible service. Not one of the staff could manage a smile, and whilst there were three of them taking care of our table, they couldn't manage to give us service at all. Someone came and took the order after quite a long wait, and then our first courses arrived but without any drinks having been served. I had to remind them about drinks, which were eventually brought, and so it went all evening with one thing after another. The worst part was that there seemed to be no understanding of the problems despite our polite reminders, let alone an apology. When it came to pay, I told them I didn't want to add the (discretionary) service charge which had been added to the bill, and why, and was told they'd have to ask the manager. Again, a lack of service where I was made to feel uncomfortable. Such a pity: it's not difficult to give good and pleasant service.
I very rarely review where I eat, but the Cross Keys will die a slow death if it continues like it is now. This place used to be amazing! New ownership and it just shows how a great place can turn bad.
Rude staff, told our family to F**K OFF, but worst of all was the food. It’s just no good. Duck water melon salad was very bad. Watermelon off, almost no duck, tasted of cardboard and expensive for what it was. My wife’s pork chop needed a chainsaw and and axe to eat and the kids pasta was more like porridge.
Avoid it till it improves! Loads better places in the area.
Only good thing was the chap that served us who was a nice guy and did his best, managers were rude, defensive and insisted their food was great. All a shame as this place used to be epic on all fronts!!
Always enjoyed the food here, they got a new chef about 5 months ago so I am told, doing a very good job
Steak was OK, linguine was woeful. Very good waiting staff. Chef needs to lift his/her game a bit. Good venue, nice room, excellent location. With a bit of menu/chef tweaking this could be a top spot.
Good food but really bad service. I have been here before several times and had much better experiences with serving staff. Perhaps they have change in management? Either way, it was frustrating.
Great place for lunch in the middle of Chelsea.
Lovely lunch amongst the flowers they had put st the back of the restaurant for Chelsea flower show .... staff helpful and very nice
Average food, understaffed, with tired waiters who offered the absolute minimum in friendliness with a hint of condescension. Not what a gastropub should be all about. Thrives on being a Chelsea backwater cliched scene and therefore doesn’t need to try harder, but the rest of the world notice the mediocrity.
Great location in chelsea neighborhood. Service, quality of food, setting all top. Sunday roast particularly good. We went back again within our week in Chelsea. Thank you
Service slow. Waited long for drinks. Asked for a spoon to dish up vegetables, took so long vegetables were cold.
This is one of our local pub restaurants that we go to often and will go back.
The sunday lunch menu had a fish dish, a roast, risotto, a burger and a steak. we sat down at 4pm. they'd already sold out of risotto and fish. good there weren't any non-meat eaters with us! some of us went for the roast, some the burger. waiter comes back. they've now run out of burgers... so won't be going back anytime soon!
p.s. the food they did have was quite nice
I have been to this place for a few years but recently they have changed all the team, so the service is not as good, the food is disappointing, they have cut down in the menu.
As much it was my "Cantine" before, I don't feel comfortable in this place anymore and I avoid going there. I gave it a chance last Wednesday but still the same feeling.
I wouldn't recommend this place anymore.
We met friends for Sunday lunch. After a good Bloody Mary we enjoyed excellent food backed up with efficient service.
I loved this pub. Very chelsea but also refreshing. It was snowing when we went so it was totally picturesque. The decor is so gorgeous
It has been a pleasure! We are coming back soon
Visited for a Sunday roast. The place is nice and the food looks good. A very chewy roast beef and the service was slow. Overall it was ok but doubt I would go back.
Good place although the menu is rather limited
You will have also good time in cross keys given good atmosphere
Having persuaded some friends to drive down from Hampstead ( after sending them the menu online!) we were seated, ordered a bottle of water and the waiter mumbled something about toast not being available. I’m still not clear whether the 3 options on the ‘menu’ they gave us were available as one of those was roasted . When we asked what was going on we were told sorry we had a very busy day so we don’t have much food left! They had the cheek to bring us £3+ bill for the water so I’m not at all sure that they really were sorry for the inconvenience. Shame
This might be the best roast I've had in London, but the service really wasn't good. A couple of tables around us complained. Hoping it was a one off, I'd definitely go back to find out.
I've been to the Cross Keys several times as I love the athmosphere!!! The pub is very welcoming, dog friendly and nicely decorated. The service is always friendly as well! The food is generally very good but last Saturday we were with a group of seven and four of us had a steak for the first time there and we were quite dissapointed by the quality of the meat. It wasn't tender and over cooked. That being said, the traditional burger, bangles and mash or pork belly are always great and you will definetly enjoy your evening!
Booked for Valentine's Day. For a 7pm booking I was surprised to hear the lobster that was on the Valentine's menu had already sold out. Who goes for Valentine's meals earlier than 7pm?? It wasn't busy on arrival so not sure where the lobster crawled off too. However did see another couple send theirs back so perhaps all was not lost. As we were not offered an alternative (overheard another couple offered this option later) we both had steak (sadly off the main menu at a higher price) which was excellent. Service lacked a smile at every opportunity. One girl looked like she wished she was elsewhere, which is how we felt by the end of it.
Lovely place, very good food and great service in a beautiful location.
Good overall but has deteriorated from its great status only a few months ago. The service is now only fair compared to very good in the past. Also the menu has gone from great to just OK. I am not sure what is driving these changes. Perhaps the owners are more focussed on expansion now (they recently bought the Admiral Codrington and some other pubs). I hope the Cross Keys will return to its former great status soon!!
lovely vibe and atmosphere but food was disappointing - pork belly- not much flavor and not crispy crackling top and sea bass was quite small- not much to it.
despite this will be back and will order the roast- looked great.
Not up to it's usual standard food wise hopefully just a poor night. Staff always very friendly
Love the atmosphere at the Cross Keys but let down by the uninspired menu on this occasion. Very different from previous visits when you almost had to choose everything on the menu so that you didn't feel as if you were missing out. Our server said this is because it's a quiet time of the year but it was full. Put it this way I can't remember the last I had to order the burger because nothing else on the menu stood out!
Back in a months time hope it's not the quite season still!?
very nice food and service is good and atmosphere is lovely, they just need to get highchairs as our babies had nowhere to sit!
Been a regular to the this establishment. Not sure if the chef had a day off but this time food was below average. Tasteless gnocchi, dry and bland beef burgers, small and not very tender steak. For a £15 burger you would expect more. Sea bream and Cornish sole were OK. Will be going there soon for lunch and I do hope that food will be much better otherwise it will just be a pub for the occasional drink.
