The Crown- Broxbourne
The Crown Inn has served Broxbourne for several hundred years, dating back to the 1700's. Popular with Victorian day-trippers, the inn was also used by local companies who liked their employees to play sports on the adjacent gardens. The current building was constructed in the 1930s, replacing The Old Crown Hotel, since those days we have worked hard at retaining our reputation for great hospitality and even better food.
Perfect for riverside walks along the banks of the Lee, our magnificent white country inn is well placed for exploring the countryside. Nearby Paradise Wildlife Park is a draw for the whole family.
Un sure after reading other reviews as to if we should go to the Crown, but took a chance and very pleased I did. Service was first rate and the food at the top end for a pub/restaurant.
Our food was stone cold in the middle so had to get sent back. Service was good though
We met friends for Sunday lunch here, and it was very good! Food and service were all great, amazing value, it was really quiet when we got there at half 12, by half 1 it was teaming and all tables were busy. It was a lovely atmosphere, little rooms with two or three tables, so it was cosy. In the summer the garden would be great, and a location next to the river was lovely too.
We went for a birthday celebration which was very pleasant. Unfortunately it was just after Christmas and New Year, 2nd Jan, so a lot of the food we originally wanted to order wasn't available, no ham, only one hunters chicken, no triple fried chips, no mash only one choice of pizza. I do feel a pub of this size should have catered for this event happening. However, the food we did have was excellant as were the staff and the ambience of the pub. Would still recommend. Would like to see more vegetarian dishes available.
