lovely meal and service
something different, very tasty
enjoyed our visit
lovely food and beautifully cooked. there
was not a mind blowing list of choices that overwhelm you before you have even eaten.
they choices they had catered for everyone and we all had different choices and each of us enjoy what we had chosen.
My party all opted for the 'fish & chips'. The whiting in batter was very good but the chips were disappointing. They were not up to the standard of the fish and the other dishes we could see other diners enjoying. The service was friendly and attentive. I think more 'adventurous' vegetarian options are needed (veggie lasagne was the only true main course I could see). I think this is a well deserved 4 rating and the impression that the Curious Eatery is making an effort and trying hard comes over with all the enthusiasm.
Very friendly staff and tasty food. Nice atmosphere in our local village.
I love the place. Food is delicious. Fresh served as seen.
Lovely meals, didn't expect my risotto will be turned into a ball which was fantastic! My children loves it, clean plates from 3 of them!
We have been wanting to visit The Curious Eatery for a while, so booked it for my mum's birthday lunch. The food was hearty and tasty, although unfortunately the vegetarian options weren't all that inspiring (my mum is a veggie and was hoping for a bit more than courgette lasagne and a handful of salad). The service was friendly and welcoming, but quite slow considering the restaurant wasn't all that busy. However I would recommend it and go back, although possibly not on a Sunday. I can imagine it would be really cozy for a weeknight treat meal out.
Had a lovely Sunday dinner there, food was excellent
We have been before and enjoyed the experience, so on that basis of that visit we decided to go back with some friends. We had a table which was close to the bar and open kitchen. This is good if you like to see what is happening behind the scenes in a busy restaurant but we think the extract fans may not have been working properly, because the amount of smoke coming into the dining room early in the evening was fairly overpowering. The menu is very limited but with the specials of the day presented on a separate board there is a reasonable choice to be had. Unfortunately they had run out of the starter most of us wanted and both the main courses that all of us wanted. As our table was booked for 7.15pm and only one other table was already seated ( admittedly a table for 10 ) when we arrived we found this rather disappointing. Most of the food we had was good, particularly the goat ragu but the rump steak which was offered as an alternative main course was pretty tough and not very tasty. The service was slow which we understand was because there was one less waitress on duty than usual but there was also a private party underway upstairs. This did create quite a lot of foot traffic past the table and people milling round the bar area next to our table. It was definitely not an evening for quiet conversation ! We will go again but this last visit was unfortunately a little disappointing.
Have the Manwich, the best sandwich I have ever eaten
Very friendly relaxed atmosphere with helpful service.
Had a great lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday lovely food and lovely staff
Excellent service - lovely setting - food beautifully presented - bit more pricey than a local cafe / coffee shop -
Great tasting food, slow service but waitress apologised.
Had a fab lunch as always, accommodating my husband in a wheelchair. Portions very generous and lovely hot plates!! Good value for children too.
Pleasant brunch. Must return for "Curious" lunch or dinner soon.
Sadly we were disappointed with our food. My husband's pork was over cooked and some even unedible .My lambs heart, from the special board was tasty , sadly only just hot enough. The cheese cobblers were dissappointingly over ooked, from being reheated. That was bad enough , but we were let down again by the lack of treacle tart .we duly payed our bill and left never to return.
On a positive, the staff were very polite and friendly.
We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch and will definitely be returning. The roasts were delicious, even our children who are fussy eaters ate most of their meal. The service was friendly and professional.
Food was amazing but very disappointed with the service. Staff spent there time looking after the regulars.
Lovely Sunday roast and friendly staff, good value for money with a generous portion of food
I am a week-day regular at The Curious Eatery, but have not until this occasion been on Sunday.
It seemed to me that the brilliant hard-working staff were a bit tired at the end of the week, and I am not surprised that TCE is shut on Mondays. Nevertheless we enjoyed an outstanding meal.
This was my first time here and I loved it can't wait to go back. The staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome.
Fantastic food and good service. Will definitely come back again. Thank you. It’s really nice to have such a good place to go that is not far away for us.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Highly recommend
Delicious freshly made and cooked food. Food is well presented.
service very good and not "in your face " every 10 mins, food was cooked beautifully and tasted wonderful really enjoyed my evening there
Both my friend and I had the home cooked venison lasagna which was excellent and very satisfying. Served with a delicious salad and washed down with a glass of Shiraz; all in all a great way to start the weekend! Really good service without being intrusive and a tempting array of home made cakes for those with a sweet tooth. (We were full but took a slice home as they were too good to resist)
We were both really impressed with the food and tentative service. Wonderful to speak to the Chef very acommadating.
Amazing food ,great friendly service , enjoyable evening would definately go back
Great food. Friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed our visit.
Fantastic Sunday lunch!
We went with our friends and it was also my birthday. We had a fabulous time, the food is excellent and is sourced locally, the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
They also have a few clothing stands that you can buy from upstairs, this is fantastic and have some lovely clothes at reasonable prices.
This is a very quirky and fantastic restaurant/tearoom/bar to visit. We definately recommend this place for a visit.
A lovely restaurant with very friendly and welcoming staff, delicious food and a quirky environment. I would highly recommend this restaurant for an evening meal but equally the lunch and Sunday lunch menu look very tempting. We went for my husbands birthday - not only was he wished "happy birthday" on arrival his dessert was furnished with a candle and all the staff (and other dinners) sang happy birthday to him - a really nice touch. We will definitely be going back with friends and family.
My experience at The Curious Eatery is always full of excellent food, imagination and fun
It was my 65th birthday - and because it was a family occasion with children we arrived at 6.30 - but the menu choices were already limited. Staff were very helpful and accommodating and what we had was lovely. Chef told us later that with some pre-warning they would have better ensured there were things remaining (or things could have been specially prepared) that met my daughter's allergies/garlic intolerance. They did allow my highly lactose intolerant grand daughter to bring her own food as we could see there was nothing on the menu she could eat
Really friendly staff, great food, relaxed and informal.
After two visits find food ok but nothing special. Expensive. Had mackerel salad and fish didn't taste fresh. Decor good and service very good.
Ambience and decor good-informal and with a good buzz. No background muzak a big plus. Service friendly, though not always informed at waiting staff level-but a special request was very efficiently accommodated with a conversation with the maitre d'. Liked that there was a relatively long list of specials according to availability of produce. Food arrived from the kitchen piping hot-another big plus. Food was competently executed, though a request for dressing to be served on the side (which it was) didn't prevent the food from being served on a smear of mayonnaise. My fellow eater very happy with her sea bass. I enjoyed the flavour pairings with my duck confit. Puddings also well executed: homely and appropriate for the standard of cuisine served. Would certainly return.
The flavours were wonderful even though my pie had a very soggy bottom, pastry was terribly undercooked, inedible. Which was a shame as everything else was delicious.
Wasn’t keen on our table looking at the pass or the cold gust of air every time the door opened, so would request to be seated elsewhere.
We will definitely be back.
Great comfort food. Good Value nice atmosphere, would recommend
