On arrival we loved the venue and the menu offered a great lunchtime choice with a separate specials board. Food was fantastic, very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. Everything was really fresh, the homemade cake choice was varied and the cakes themselves divine !! Had a very enjoyable lunchtime date with 2 friends for ones 40th birthday.
Only slight disappointment was that we had to call over the waitress each time we wanted a drink and to ask for the desert menu as no-one came to see to us once our meals had been served. The place was busy so they may wish to take on more staff, otherwise they could miss out on the opportunity of serving more drinks and desserts. Unlike us, a lot of people would not wait, only to then have to ask for them themselves.
Also, they may wish to do something about the amount of flies within the building during the hot weather as there were lots around our table which wasn't very nice whilst we were trying to eat.
All in all though, lovely food and would definitely return.
A great place to drop in for lunch...
Great Evening out with good food ,drink and staff.!
Booked for Friday lunchtime @ 14.00 unfortunately the menu choice was very limited. In process of changing menus but what we did have was delicious
Having read a TONNE of great reviews I thought I’d give the curious eatery a go for a last-minute meal with a friend and I absolutely was not disappointed; the reviews were right! Friendly, laid-back atmosphere - beautiful decor and brilliantly attentive (but not over-bearing!) waitress. My friend and I had a delicious meal, weren’t pressed to make our decision (the menu - particularly the specials - is tricky to choose from as everything sounds amazing!) and the food itself was every bit as good as I had hoped. The chef (presumably head, possibly owner/manager?) made an effort to come and ask if we had had a nice meal and then offered to show us the upstairs function room and snug along with clothing/homemade shop. Function room is beautiful and will be suggesting that to any friends having an upcoming baby shower and the shop had some brilliant bits in it!
Never normally write reviews but am really pleased to have found such a gem locally and I wish the proprietors all the best as they’re doing a fantastic job xxx
We went to celebrate Fathers Day. None of us could resist the roast beef Sunday roast. It was exceptional, with overnight slow cooked topside. If you have any good requirements or preferences do let them know beforehand and they will accommodate. Lovely staff, happy place. Definitely worth the 40 minute drive !
Food was, as always, the tastiest freshest food around. Always happy to be eating here
Great food and ambiance, great value for money.. Also good size portions that are not to filling.. 3 courses work well..👍🏻
All good as usual, nice local restaurant with good food and staff.
A little gem hidden away near Maidstone, great service, great food and great value for what you get...
Once again the food and atmosphere didn't disappoint. Staff were friendly as ever. We are always recommending people to try this place. And the chocolate hotpot is to die for...See you again soon
Lack of choices
Expensive for what it was
Good food, but small portions, really could do with bigger portions, otw. good
A great find only a couple of miles away, the food, atmosphere and staff were all great. Definitely going back with the rest of the family!
A delightful dinner with my daughter from London who was overwhelmed with the choices and presentation of a truly memorable meal.
Had lunch with a friend. Good service, good food really lovely place. Would highly recommend
Great food. Wonderful flavours. Superbly presented.
Very tasty food. Rustic décor. Lovely lunch all round.
My husband and I decided to pop in for a cooked breakfast on Friday morning. I had poached eggs and bacon and he had a full English. The marinated bacon was absolutely delicious, I have never tasted bacon like it. The flat white coffee was also one of the best coffees I have had outside of my home (nothing usually beats my Nespresso). We will definitely be going back for breakfast.....soon.
Food was enjoyable and atmosphere great. Disappointingly, many options on the menu were unavailable - we were informed by our waitress to arrive earlier to avoid disappointment next time! We were asked if we wanted a dessert menu, which we did. Twenty minutes after receiving our menu and with no order being taken from the waiting staff (who were busy drying cutlery), we decided to settle our bill. Disappointed would summarise the experience as the food was good and the specials board extensive however the lack of options due to unavailability of dishes and the inattentiveness of waiting staff meant the experience could have been better.
Enjoyable afternoon with friends. My first visit but will definitely visit again
Great place, lovely food and staff was amazing. We will visit again.
Absolute gem of a place. Very friendly nothing too much trouble. Well balanced menu and a wonderful specials board. Been here several times and would highly recommend this eatery.
A wonderful experience as always. Fantastic food, friendly staff and I was made to feel very welcome.
Lovely atmosphere. Quirky menu. Freshly cooked. Lovely. Great service!
lovely meal and service
something different, very tasty
enjoyed our visit
lovely food and beautifully cooked. there
was not a mind blowing list of choices that overwhelm you before you have even eaten.
they choices they had catered for everyone and we all had different choices and each of us enjoy what we had chosen.
My party all opted for the 'fish & chips'. The whiting in batter was very good but the chips were disappointing. They were not up to the standard of the fish and the other dishes we could see other diners enjoying. The service was friendly and attentive. I think more 'adventurous' vegetarian options are needed (veggie lasagne was the only true main course I could see). I think this is a well deserved 4 rating and the impression that the Curious Eatery is making an effort and trying hard comes over with all the enthusiasm.
Very friendly staff and tasty food. Nice atmosphere in our local village.
I love the place. Food is delicious. Fresh served as seen.
Lovely meals, didn't expect my risotto will be turned into a ball which was fantastic! My children loves it, clean plates from 3 of them!
We have been wanting to visit The Curious Eatery for a while, so booked it for my mum's birthday lunch. The food was hearty and tasty, although unfortunately the vegetarian options weren't all that inspiring (my mum is a veggie and was hoping for a bit more than courgette lasagne and a handful of salad). The service was friendly and welcoming, but quite slow considering the restaurant wasn't all that busy. However I would recommend it and go back, although possibly not on a Sunday. I can imagine it would be really cozy for a weeknight treat meal out.
Had a lovely Sunday dinner there, food was excellent
We have been before and enjoyed the experience, so on that basis of that visit we decided to go back with some friends. We had a table which was close to the bar and open kitchen. This is good if you like to see what is happening behind the scenes in a busy restaurant but we think the extract fans may not have been working properly, because the amount of smoke coming into the dining room early in the evening was fairly overpowering. The menu is very limited but with the specials of the day presented on a separate board there is a reasonable choice to be had. Unfortunately they had run out of the starter most of us wanted and both the main courses that all of us wanted. As our table was booked for 7.15pm and only one other table was already seated ( admittedly a table for 10 ) when we arrived we found this rather disappointing. Most of the food we had was good, particularly the goat ragu but the rump steak which was offered as an alternative main course was pretty tough and not very tasty. The service was slow which we understand was because there was one less waitress on duty than usual but there was also a private party underway upstairs. This did create quite a lot of foot traffic past the table and people milling round the bar area next to our table. It was definitely not an evening for quiet conversation ! We will go again but this last visit was unfortunately a little disappointing.
Have the Manwich, the best sandwich I have ever eaten
Very friendly relaxed atmosphere with helpful service.
Had a great lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday lovely food and lovely staff
Excellent service - lovely setting - food beautifully presented - bit more pricey than a local cafe / coffee shop -
Great tasting food, slow service but waitress apologised.
Had a fab lunch as always, accommodating my husband in a wheelchair. Portions very generous and lovely hot plates!! Good value for children too.
