Have had a lot of curry’s in the past, but this place is the best will definitely return.
Authentic food noting cooked at its best.
Nice place to visit, food good quality indian , surprised with quality of dessert made by pastry chef and excellent. I feel although lovely food it was over priced and this would stop me visiting again!
Outstanding meal, our server Manuel was polite, efficient, and offered excellent suggestions. The food was absolutely outstanding. I highly recommend going here
Fantastic food and great service. Although a set menu there was plenty of variety.
Was well looked after as we were going to see Hamilton and restricting time constraint. Food was fabulous. First time for my American son to experience “proper” India food. He is now a big fan
The food was good but omg it was expensive, wish I had paid more attention to the menu before booking. The food was good though and service great.
Fabulous service and food! A real must!
Amazing meal, start to finish. Service and food were impeccable.
The food was very nice but it was pretty quiet when we went after a matinee at 6, and so there was no atmosphere. The service was very attentive if a little overly so and all felt a bit stuffy. The drinks are super expensive. It is £45 a head for 3 courses but there was loads of food and it was excellent quality.
Tool the fam there to celebrate our last day in Europe. Outstanding. Delicious Indian food. But oh so very brutally expensive. We are like kings but left like paupers !! 😂😂
The damage was about $100 USD per person.
Over priced Indian food. Small portions.
Delicious food, attentive (but not annoying) service, and a great vibe. Definitely opt for the 3-curry selection, and don’t forget the pistachio kulfi!
London seems to have a tier of Indian restaurants that promise a superior dining experience (at stratospheric prices). Some of those restaurants, such as the Curry Room, deliver on just part of the promise (yes, dear reader, the prices.).
From the bordello decor to the lounge singer’s 80’s pop drifting infrom upstairs to the overeager wait staff who don’t seem to understand the concept of savoring a meal, the Curry Room fails to deliver on almost all counts. The samosa starters were cold and had obviously been prepared earlier in the day. The lamb curry was undistinguished. The bright spot of the meal was the vegetable korma, which was freshly prepared and nicely spiced.
Overall Rating: Avoid
Beautiful, old setting. Friendly, helpful, and attentive staff. Delicious food! We took our time, about three hours, and never felt rushed.
My wife and I enjoyed a terrific meal before seeing a show in London. What a night!
Difficult to find as nowhere did it mention it was actually in the Ruben's Hotel, only by pure chance we asked the friendly doorman if we were going the right way that he told us it was in the hotel. The food was flavoursome but at £45 per head very disappointed at half a naan bread each!! Probably wouldn't go back again.
If you listen to Radio 4 and want to sit in a Victorian Grandmother's sewing den then this is the place for you. The food was a mixed bag, I LOVED my taster menu but friends had mixed thoughts of their dishes. Limited menu and VERY expensive for the basic menu they offered. I wouldn't go back but I personally had great food and the staff were top notch.
small menu of well-prepared Indian dishes and a beautiful space. Service was a little bit didactic as if we had never eaten any Indian food before. however the dishes were not run-of-the-mill Indian but tasted authentically spiced with real spices someone prepared as their own take on the curries and other types of dishes since a lot of Indian restaurants have a big spread of choices, probably look at the menu to be sure there is something you want before you go to spend these prices. Beautiful quiet setting when we were there
This is a set menu. Starter is a simple vegetarian or meat samosa with popadoms choice. Seven choices for the mains and both of our choices were tasty. Desserts were good which is not something I usually say when at an Indian restaurant. Only negative is it is a bit pricey for what it is. Service is good.
Absolutely outstanding & easily the best curry i have had in London. A reduced number of choices on the menu results in absolutely delicious properly cooked food. I really believe that the use of ingredients & particularly spices results in an absolute taste sensation. A great meal in a great location.
We were very disappointed with the menu as there was only the set menu available at £45 each with no choice of starters. Having paid exorbitant amount of money for just one main curry and chickpeas all the left over food had to be wasted as we were told that they did not have containers take it home. Perhaps this restaurant is not for locals but for rich tourists
Phenomenal! A wonderful experience!
£8 for a small bottle of Kingfisher....
Food was excellent. But a complete rip off.
Staff attentive. Overpriced , not as amazing as it thinks it is!!
Went for my wife's birthday. The food and service were excellent. The chef came out for a chat and there was live music from a fabulous singer in the bar upstairs.
Drinks a little on the pricey side but you are in a central London hotel.
Well worth a visit.
Friends and I went to the Curry Room because all of the trendy fancy places were booked. Man, did we luck out! The food is top quality and you can taste the love and care that goes into every dish. Great service, amazing ambiance, great food, great drinks and wine---and only 35 bob. We'll be back!
We were treated like honored guests from the minute we stepped into the restaurant. The manager explained the menu, a fixed price, three course dinner. He explained that each of the main courses were designed to represent a different region or style of Indian cuisine. And he described the cooking techniques and flavor profiles. We chose two from different styles. The flavors were wonderful. Presentation was beautiful. The value was outstanding. We are both experienced in Indian cuisine. This was a great experience.
Some of the best curry I’ve ever had in my life!!
Absolutely wonderful meal! 3 course tasting menu--would highly recommend the lamb curry, butter chicken and cheesecake, although all of the choices were delicious!
Loved everything about it!!
First off we were not aware the restaurant was in the lower level of a hotel, so it took us a while to find it. Once we located it and went in we were seated in a back corner and were greeted by our server who was quite attentive. Ordered samosas and drinks, samosas were quite dry and the beer was warm, so not a great start. Then we had our main course of lamb and butter chicken, both were quite good and they even made an attempt to get the beer colder! Have to give them points for effort. Overall not a bad experience.
Nice Indian food, nice room inside the Rubens hotel with really nice staff
Very good service. Amazing food! Very romantic setting for girlfriend birthday dinner!
Amazing food amazing service. recommend the vindaloo
Great location in the Rubens Hotel. Wonderful service and delicious set menu. Amazing samosas and pappadums to start with- made in the kitchen!
The food was so flavorful and delicious! The atmosphere was also so romantic and very personable. I would definitely recommend this spot!
Excellent for the second time. Superb food, interesting menu, great atmosphere and exceptional service. Try the vindaloo.
The service was so slow!!! It took us 3.5 hours to get out of there with a set menu. It’s in the basement of the hotel and obviously the kitchen is far away. Also, we asked for not spicy food, and they assured me they would do their best with all the dishes, but not one out of 5 was bearable on spice.
Great decor and attentive service. Much easier to have a conversation in than many other restaurants that are so noisy. I think it's the thick carpet and upholstered chairs that help. Beef in the curry was unpleasantly fatty which was a disappointment so I left most of my main course - something the waiter didn't pick up on.
A lovely meal at a very reasonable price for the food. The wine list is on the pricey end although the bottle of wine we had was fantastic (Their own vinyard and the Hannibal Red). The restaurant is situated in the basement area of the Ruben's Hotel opposite Buckingham Palace mews. Great location but the bar is London premiere hotel prices which rather offsets the value for money of the food.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable meal with fantastic service and lovely ambience.
A hidden gem. This restaurant is warmly decorated with deep armchairs, soothing lighting and cosy furnishings and lots of space between the tables. The set 3 course menu was delicious, the pork vindaloo a real eye opener (try it!). It's not be open long but the food standards seemed very high for this price, we paid 35 per person and felt we had a bargain.
Good wine list favoring lighter whites. The waiters were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The room isn't obvious when entering the hotel, you need to go through the bar. We were lucky to be serenaded by live lounge music from the bar giving it a lively relaxed feel. Strongly recommend.
