The Design Museum Kitchen
The Kitchen on the second floor offers casual dining at its best, with a seasonal menu serving British classics alongside a selection of salads, main courses and a bakery table. Our winter menu includes Superfood salad of quinoa, charred broccoli, roasted peppers, sweet potato and grapefruit, Freedom pils-battered haddock, chips and crushed peas, or a lighter dish of honey-roast salmon, dill cream cheese, seeded bagel with crisps.
Searcys commitment to sustainability is echoed across our food and drinks menus, with a company pledge to buy the best ingredients available, working with British farmers to ensure that up to 90% of all seasonal fruit and vegetables are grown in the UK. Searcys only uses UK-reared fresh meat, flour milled in England, free-range eggs and milk from Red Tractor-certified farms. Tuna featured on their menu comes with the guarantee that it is sustainably and line and pole caught.
A really good place to eat, very calm and no loud music. The staff couldn't have been nicer.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and thevery reasonable prices, including wine: which is so often marked up very heavenly. Excellent service, comfortable seating, quiet and attractive venue.Highly recommended.
From the disappointing menu options, to dropped trays, cloudy glasses, forgotten ice/lemon/water request to irritating music that the staff were not allowed to turn off! Staff very apologetic and helpful though some of the younger ones seemed very inexperienced.
Strong smell of fish as you arrive. Room is too hot and stuffy. Menu is good, fairly priced for a museum. Had a nice salad but there was no dressing at all
Very boring menu and poorly prepared food. The Design Museum deserves a better restaurant than this.
We were absolutely delighted by the food, service and charm in the Design Museum Kitchen. Fish and chips, asparagus tart and flatbread dipping platter were all divine, a much higher standard than the high street. The glass of bubbly was also top notch.
Great service, lovely food, very nice view. We'll definitely return.
Very friendly staff and the food was so tasty.
The service was a little inattentive - I had to attract attention to make my order and especially to pay. The burger was overpriced at £15 but was very good.
We had to wait for a long time for our meal and the restaurant wasn't full. Few staff seemed very overwhelmed for some reason. Food was OK, but nothing special. Shame.
We had a really enjoyable lunch in the Design Museum Kitchen for my birthday.
The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was really great too and I would highly recommend it. The view over Holland Park is lovely and the cafe was quiet during our visit, so noise levels were very acceptable. The design and ambiance are very pleasant.
Nice location but the service was slow, food was fine.
We ate at the Design Museum Kitchen while visiting the museum today, and were very pleased with our experience. This staff were attentive and friendly, the restaurant had an inviting, spacious atmosphere and very clean, and they quickly accommodated for my friends pram and 11 week old baby. The food was fresh and came quickly after we ordered. All around a great experience!
First visit to the Design Museum with an old friend and we enjoyed a delightful long leisurely lunch. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and simply presented, not an especially large portion but delicious! Apple crumble for dessert was rich, nutty and very good indeed.
The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Nice park views, good food - this place is a great spot to escape the crowds.
I don't know if they were particularly short staffed on the day I visited, but the service was atrocious though friendly when it did happen! The staff just seemed to disappear for an inordinately long time. We certainly weren't rushed!! We ordered crumbles and ice cream for dessert and were only given forks. Asked for spoons and only one appeared so then had to wait five minutes before a member of staff appeared again before getting two more spoons....meanwhile crumble going cold and ice cream melting...
Ambiance and service very good and very convenient if visiting the museum but food was slightly disappointing.
