The Dining Room at The Oakley Court
Head Chef Coalin Finn and his team aim to create a mixture of creative dishes and family favourites to suit all tastebuds using their onsite gardens, beehives and smokehouse to provide a truly unique dining experience.
Food, service, ambience all spot on. Only small gripe was the menu on the website was different to the one on the day. My guest was particularly looking forward to a particular dish that was not on the menu
We had a family dinner in the Dining Room for Father's Day. The staff at the restaurant were amazing. We arrived early and they were able to accommodate our request to be seated earlier. The staff continued to very attentive throughout our meal. Food was absolutely delicious! Full of flavour and beautifully presented. Restaurant is located on the grounds of the Oakley Court hotel which has beautiful grounds. Would highly recommend for a relaxing evening of fine dining!
We were eating quite early (because we wanted to enjoy the evening strolling by the river og lounging in the library, too)
At first, the music was too loud and a bit disturbing, but when more people came, the level was quite ok. Generally I don´t like background music when eating. Asking dinner guests about music might be a good idea.
Amazing food and wonderful service. A beautiful venue for parties and special occasions.
A most pleasant evening. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was very well presented and served swiftly, apart from a slightly over long wait in ordering the sweet.
This was a totally memorable meal for all the right reasons:
The maitre d' was excellent in aiding us in our choices.
The background music was subtle but entertaining and a low level talking point
The food was divine - the hotel stay was a 60th birthday celebration for one of our party and he was blown away by the meal and the subsequent breakfast the next day.
Fantastic evening good food good wine and excellent service the hotel grounds make for a lovely walk after visiting the restaurant
I frequently recommend the Oakley Court. We came about a month ago, stayed and had an evening meal and breakfast. They even managed to accommodate some last minute friends. Maybe the meal on Saturday was just not to my taste.
Enjoyable dining experience we had a great Sunday lunch and the grounds were beautiful by the river
Definitely worth going.
Will have to go again
Thank you for your recommendation and recent review of The Dining Room at The Oakley Court, we are very grateful for your feedback. We hope we can welcome you back in the not so distant future!
Really nice environment. The place and the building are amazing. Food and service is OK but could be better.
Highly recommended. The food was very good and the staff very helpful regarding the menu.
Very disappointed with food quality and portion size. Considering price the venison came as two very small pieces of meat ( about 40 mm round and 15 mm thick ) Starter was one very thin small piece of foi gras. No way worth the prices charged.
Staff friendly and helpful but won’t be going back. Give this a miss. Poor poor value.
Excellent food in an historical atmosphere makes it special. The service is also outstanding.
Excellent chef. Showed creativity and imagination. The design of the dining room is long with defined segments.
The ambiance therefore was not brilliant but if you want semi private then it would work for you.
Food wasn’t that great ...very odd menu and very overpriced ..
Birthday was good.
The Food and service were excellent. There was very little choice on the menu which was the problem.
Overpriced for the quality of the food
My carrot cake was the strangest dessert I have ever seen and did not have much of a taste
No character in decor
Very Good service
A great restaurant in one of the most beautiful locations imaginable. All of my food was good and the main course and dessert were excellent. My partner wasn't so keen on hers but it was okay. The service was first class.
You can walk outside on to the lawns that go down to the river and it is literally magical on a summer's night.
Lovely food and great place to stay. We moored our boat and stayed overnight for dinner and breakfast. Loved the building and history. Large rooms and comfortable beds. Will book again.
Although my mother and I enjoyed our meal, we did feel that it was a limited menu for both main course and desert. I have to say that the service was impeccable and we were made to feel very welcome.
Honeymoon trip. The staff and food were perfect. The setting at the Oakley could be very romantic.
It was not quite up to par
Very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, special kids menue, food was good but not outstanding
get together with 8 of us as pretty short notice. They accommodated us admirably and we had a quiet table for pre dinner drinks and then a super table for the meal. Everyone enjoyed their meal and it was a creative and tasteful menu. Great experience and will do again.
Staff was extremely nice and helpful. We had a great time can't wait to return. Really nice place, the dining room is cosy, perfect for a date, anniversary or family celebrations.
Very disappointing: The Wait Staff were not attentive and we had to ask for service several times, ultimately waiting for 20 minutes for our check after we had asked for it . The beef was the chewy and tasteless. The roast potatoes were good and so was the broccoli the rest of the Sunday roast was bland and had no flavour. The Crown in Bray or The Hinds Head in Bray much better food / experience / value!
Special meal with family. Really good location. Only downside was the noise from other guests but I guess that's a consequence of it being a popular hotel.
It was a lovely setting. We had a great Sunday lunch with amazing, attentive staff. The starters and main were good quality food; being a Sunday lunch it was no otherworldly gastronomic experience, and we didn't get very hot plates, but the service and setting made up for it. Definitely not an inexpensive place to dine -more so when the drinks were added the check almost doubled- but we enjoyed our time very much.
In short: good classic food, fair interiors with a beautiful view, great service, not for the budget concerned.
I went because The Rocky Horror Picture Show was filmed there and to celebrate my 21st. They seemed a little confused why I was eating alone, but it was fine. The food was absolutely incredible!! I ordered the dumplings and I’m still obsessed with how incredible they were!! It was a bit disappointing that there were only five or six of them (they were smaller) for £19. I ordered pretty modestly, but my bill was really quite high. So delicious, but relatively costly
We were very disappointed - the rooms were a let down after the opulence of the other public rooms. While the service was good, the prices were much too high.
The Dining Room is the restaurant of the Oakley Park hotel, which is a lovely old mansion in spacious grounds & has a tremendous ambiance. We had ordered Ducks egg in consommé broth & scallops. Both were good. For mains we ordered Sea bream , cod & steak. The fish dishes were good but I had ordered the steak rare but to my disappointment it came medium to well done. I left half of the steak & told the waitress. She was apologetic & said she would bring another but we had already finished our dinner so they said they would not charge us the service charge. It was not the fault of the waiting staff. Food was good n wine list was ok but prices a bit steep. I would recommend it for romantic evenings as the tables are quite apart giving privacy the ambiance of the hotel is great to impress.
Lovely venue riverside with plenty of outside seating for dinner. Smaller menu but with plenty of choice, meat, fish and a vegie option. Service attentive and without fault friendly. Food well cooked and nicely presented.
My husband and I were staying at Oakley Court on holidays from Australia. We ate at the hotel restaurant, the Dining Room during our stay. The food was excellent and my lactose intolerance wasn't an issue . Our waiter informed me what was lactose free and other choices that could be adapted. We enjoyed great food, wine and service
We had dinner here two nights in a row while staying in the hotel. Unique dishes, friendly service, and beautiful scenery.
Overpriced hotel fare in a relatively bland setting. Don't really expect a bowl of £19 pasta to be under-cooked. Best avoided.
Food was lovely but there could have been a bit more of it. Service was excellent as was the ambience
