The renowned casual restaurant, 'THE dining room’ at the Hilton Short Hills hotel is open for lunch and dinner with a more relaxed, casual dining experience, suitable for special occasions or business gatherings.
Led by Executive Chef Richard Kennedy, our team of experienced chefs have created a contemporary American Bistro menu, sourcing Certified Angus Beef, small-plate portions, local ingredients and delectable homemade desserts.
In addition to our new menu, house specialties are offered daily including wine pairings from our wine list.
In keeping with the fresh, sophisticated style of the menu, the room has been enhanced with striking artwork by local artist Jim Inzerro, bringing a vibrancy to the space.

I have gone to the Sunday brunch several times and always enjoyed my visit.
Unfortunately, this time I can not say I enjoyed the visit. This was a celebration for my friend's birthday...our Server was completely unprofessional...we were just starting our 1st plate when the Server interrupted our meal to ask what our room number was (we had told the Hostess upon entering that we had reservations and were not a guest at the hotel), she wanted to know how we were going to pay, she wanted to know if I was using a credit card, I told her I was paying cash in which case she made a disgruntled face...let's progress into our meal a little bit...the Server interrupted AGAIN, wanting to know if we wanted separate bills...we were relaxing, trying to enjoy our meal and you guessed it, the Server came AGAIN and parked the bill down.
I feel she was completely rude, unprofessional and greatly lacking in good customer service.
This is a convenient, professional environment with great service and very good food. I have had several business meetings here and it's always comfortable and appropriate
What used to be an institution in the area is now no longer. I booked a reservation for Mother’s Day on opentable and received a confirmation. I also got a call days before the meal to confirm the reservation. I picked up my disabled mother who does not live in the area and brought her to the restaurant expecting a wonderful meal. Instead, I was greeted at the door by a man who told us it was impossible that my reservation had been made or confirmed because the restaurant was closing at 1pm. That was indeed the time of the reservation. Perplexed, I asked to speak to the manager and he claimed to be the manager. He said he’d take care of us and proceeded to walk us to the hotel lobby bar. The hotel lobby bar for Mother’s Day. Really? I scolded him and told him it was completely unacceptable and that we’d be leaving. He gave me a whole speech about how he didn’t know what went wrong with the reservation system and that he’d look into it. He also made it seem as if this was the first time this had happened. He was lying to my face. When he walked away we were approached by 3 other families in the bar area - some having traveled from upstate New York - that had the exact same issue. None were offered any consolation for the inconvenience and at no time did the “manager” actually apologize. I recommend avoiding this establishment if this is the way they treat customers on Mother’s Day of all days. Really disappointed in the service and not what I grew up knowing the Short Hills Hilton to be. Shameful.
If you are staying at the Short Hills Hilton, The Dining Room is a comfortable place to dine. The Open Table reservation site says "Hotel Parking-Parking is complimentary for all restaurant and hotel guests." We were staying at the Short Hills Hilton on the evening that we ate at the Dining Room, i.e., we were a hotel guest; however, the hotel said that the Open Table comment was on the third party site and we were charged the $10 overnight parking fee.
MUCH to long a wait for food on Saturday night especially since there were only 10 people in the restaurant - the kitchen needs help!!!!
Waiter had no knowledge of the wines and could tell us nothing of the wines. Avocado small plate appetizer completely tasteless and accompanying pita chips were stale. Asked for risotto and chicken to come out together and despite being reminded, waiter brought them out separately. Brisket atop the burger was tasteless. There was only one other table in the restaurant.
Good food at typical hotel restaurant prices.
Weak menu. No one there
Made a reservation on open table for me and my 85 year old mother. Got there and there was a sign they were closed! Even got an email an hour before.
How is this possible?
This was the most disappointing brunch. For the price per person the menu was so limited. The food was cold. It was more like a continental breakfast that gets served for free at other hotels. I definitely would NOT recommend this place.

So disappointing! I don’t know why I was allowed to make a reservation for seven at this time when the Dining Room stops serving food at 12 on Sundays! I had out of state guests joining us, the inconvenience was embarrassing (thankfully they handled it far more graciously than I felt). It was far from a “fine dining” experience!
Easter brunch. Mediocre buffet and OUTRAGEOUS prices. Lackluster service. Guy dressed in a skanky Easter bunny outfit. Will never waste our time there again

Greatest burger in town, with fast curteous service.
The good and service were excellent however the room ambience has been changed since we were last there and we missed the darker more intimate room. We would have preferred the former setting that was more like a fine restaurant dining experience than Dining in a hotel dining room. The new atmosphere is more suitable to breakfast or lunch in a business hotel than fine dining in the evening. That is our only suggestion. Other than that one disappointing issue, the food and service were superior as always.

The food and service were very good. The room was not crowded, which is a good find on a Saturday night, so it was quiet and we were able to enjoy our conversations with dinner.
Restaurants stand and fall by their food and the food at the Dining Room is delicious. Everybody enjoyed their food. It was creative with unique touches that I haven't seen much before such as the combo cocktail sauce/gaspacho that came with the shrimp cocktail. I used to eat at a very nice BBQ restaurant that has long since closed and would order brisket and mac and cheese and I would enjoy the intersection of the two on the plate where the BBQ sauce coated the mac and cheese and vice versa. The Dining Room actually combines them in their Waqyu brisket BBQ mac and cheese and it is quite tasty and reminiscent of my previous experience. They also have a very creative cocktail menu. Other highlights were the avocado toast and the filet mignon medallions with peppercorn sauce. The only problem we encountered with the Dining Room is that they seemed quite short-staffed for a Saturday night and the service is very leisurely. Don't go unless you have a lot of time.

We went here for lunch because they were offering 500 points on open table . The parking lot was 2 floors down from the restaurant. The service was good and the food was very tasty, however, $6.00 for a big cup of coffee was high.
We had a problem getting our 500 points. The restaurant didn’t put it through correctly . I finally got it corrected. I would recommend this restaurant if you do not care about points.
Menu and ambience has changed dramatically since my last visit. No longer a comfy, inviting, cozy atmosphere. Now cold, stark and barren of customers. Went on a Saturday evening during holiday season and restaurant was empty. Food choices were unimpressive as was the taste. Service was slow, uneducated on menu, and inattentive. Will not return.
One of the best burgers in town with an excellent wine list. Perfect!
Ignore my star ratings - we made a reservation through Open Table, received a confirmation and when we arrived were told that the Restaurant was closed!
Make your own chopped salad option is excellent. However there are no prices marked and you will quite surprised at the prices when the bill comes.
I was surprised by the quality for an in hotel restaurant. Ambiance fit a hotel, but the chef's food quality and flavor blends really rocked. Great surprise when I was after a good functional location for a business dinner.

We used Open Table to make a reservation at The Dining Room at the Short Hills Hilton. We live close by and have been there many times. We wanted a nice place for dinner with an out of town relative. We received a reservation and were set....we thought. We arrive to the Hilton and see a sign at the doorway stating the dining room is closed but the bar is open.
We did NOT want to eat at the bar, we wanted to eat in the dining room. The food is the same but the atmosphere is different.
The Hilton should have made note on Open Table. It was a disappointing experience.
Very very slow service
For Mimosa and Caviar the brunch was a big success. There were some great lollipop cakes. The food was great. A good time was had by all on Father's day.
We go here all the time. Very good food and wonderful service. I highly recommend dinner and Sunday Brunch.
The atmosphere was great, small and intimate. The food was delicious.
