The Dorset Street Bar
The Dorset stands out as a true Brighton Classic pub; relaxed, welcoming and full of character. It is popular with a unique and friendly cross section of shoppers, local residents, theatre goers and day trippers. It's the perfect spot to watch the bustling Brighton life go by, whether it's in winter whilst sitting by the fire with a warming mulled cider or seated outside in the summer, enjoying a refreshing drink in the sun! We are open 7 days a week from 9am.
really lovely staff, clean and friendly venue. Made us all feel very welcome
Really lovely food and great sized portions for the price.
Highly recommend the mussels and fish cake!
It’s such a lovely set up with tables and chairs outside and friendly staff.
Great set up, lovely food, good choice on menu, great choice of drinks. Friendly and attentive staff. We had a great night
Decent student/young adult pub... restaurant leaves much to be desired. One main frozen solid- response from wait staff was an eye roll - other main fine. The beer was cold which was about the only plus. Opentable characterised this as a “seafood” restaurant which was definitely not the case.
Best pub fish and chips I have ever had. Also fantastic beers. Good value considering the quality and service
The staff couldnt have been more helpful. The food was superb and plentiful. Will definitely go back on my next visit
Really lovely service with brilliant food and felt very safe for the pandemic! Screens up between tables made it feel secure.
Friendly staffs & nice foods but short choice I saw Sunday menu look nicer than the week menu!
Brilliant pub with a good atmosphere, coping very well with social distancing measures.
All the staff were happy and table service was quick and efficient.
Great food and fantastic beers in a perfect location.
Table was sticky which was bit off putting. Waitress was pleasant and got starter quite quick. Thought Prosecco pretty over priced for pub!! Used to paying at least £5 less a bottle in restaurants and it wasn’t a nice Prosecco. Main course had steak, boyfriends was ok but mine was nearly all gristle!! Chips were very over done and hard but boyfriend ate mine anyway! Did point out to the waitress about the steak and asked her to show the chef as could see what a bad cut it was, however never got any response from chef at all!! Drinks expensive- same round £5.20 cheaper in the pub a few hundred yards up road toward Brighton!
The food was sublime! The staff could be a little more cheerful. If you charge a 10% fee put it on your menu! Tables were never cleaned after people left, screens were places but not between all tables. We were very close to our neighbouring table
The Dorset Bar was fantastic, we had catch of the day (seabream) and the seafood linguini and it was sublime. We paired it with a bottle of white wine that the waitress recommended. Extremely good quality food and really really tasty. 100% would recommend and return!
Service was unbelievably slow with no recognition of this from the manager on duty. Calamari was chewy - chicken burger overcooked and dry - fish cake was more like a potato cake. Even when we requested to have the service charge removed from the bill we weren’t asked why.
Never had a bad meal here. Food is consistently very good and the staff are always an absolute delight!
They didn't have the food I wanted and sold up chips which we didn't really need. Wasnt very good food at all and very overpriced for what I had.
Lovely food and great service! Would definitely go again next time I’m in Brighton!
Food was delicious. Had a lovely table sitting by the open window. Really enjoyed meal.
Very tasty roast and social distancing measures made the whole experience feel safe.
Love the Dorset. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, tables outside.
My food was good, but my friends burger was dry and hard.
The main problem was that the food took over an hour to arrive, we were not told anything about any delay and a wait that long in unacceptable.
The booking was easy, on arrival we got our table and were able to move outside once a space opened up. Food was lovely, fresh and plentiful. With the Eat out to Help out, it was really good value for money. Am a regular and will continue to be.
Really lovely waiting staff but waited over an hour for our food. Not atypical for a visit here alas. Food nice when it came but don’t come when you’re hungry.
Had a lovely evening - the restaurant is in a great spot with a view down the lanes, the staff were great and the food tasty
Food was tasty and service was friendly and helpful. Little downside was the government eat out scheme of £10 per person wasn't applied, and I had forgotten. Other restaurants applied it as a matter of course.
However, the staff were open, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our dinner.
The food is incredible here and really good value. The service wasn’t good, they forgot about us and left us waiting about 45 mins for drinks. However, once they served us it was better.
They probably forgot about our order because it took us one hour to get it and we even had to remind them about it. Also, it took us 20 mins to order because no one came round and we had to call a waitress otherwise no one would have come
Good outdoor space
Always great food. Service with a smile. Very COVID-19 safe environment.
Rude staff, out of stock in nearly everything, slow service.
Absolutely stunning food! Everything was cooked to perfection- best roast I’ve had in years! The staff were delightful and friendly and made up for the seriousness of face masks and screens easily. Already planning our next visit.
Considering that we’re living through COVID, I felt that the staff and set up of the Dorset Street Bar was good and appropriate to the situation. There were options to sit inside or out, staff had full PPE and adhered as best they could to social distancing. The food was good and there was a good selection for the vegans amongst our group. Would visit again.
Great food, perfect service.
Food was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. First day open since covid lockdown, wasn’t as busy as I thought it’d be. A few tables of guests were rather noisy, but they were told to be quiet by management. A great pub, so pleased we went there again now they’ve reopened.
Fantastic place to eat with lovely good and very helpful staff.
Brighton was still bustling despite current situation . Visited with a friend for Sunday roast which was outstanding. Large portion beautifully cooked . Clean washrooms and dining area . Lovely smiley service can not wait to return .
Fabulous, we've been a few times and always love the atmosphere, food and service
Will definitely be back
We booked late, and though the venue was busy, they still managed to fit us in. The staff though really busy, were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Great team and great food. Will return. Thanks
I had a disappointing main meal as the choice of fish was not communicated and the choice of boiled potatoes with salad was changed to mash! The staff to be fair exchanged my meal without question and although the seafood platter arrived about 45mins later was plentiful the whitebait was very dry. A lovely venue, efficient and friendly staff which I have experienced several times and had a great time with really good food, this time was not up to par but it will not put me off visiting again.
