Service was awful had booked a table to have a roast dinner as advertised on the website only to be told that these finish at 5pm found the rest of the menu extremely poor only burgers or fish, did tell waitress who was manager but she didn’t seem bothered,
Excellent food and very friendly staff. We can forgive errors from new members of staff as everybody deserves a chance even if errors are made that’s how you learn. Good atmosphere and will definitely come again.
Lovely friendly staff who were happy to make adjustments to suit us all. The food came quickly and was of a high standard and good portions. The only slight criticism was that the pulled pork was a bit dry and in the opinion of the person who had it, could have done with some sauce. Otherwise it was a great lunch and we will certainly return.
Bad service. Waitress could not be bothered with the order. Food was very ordinary and expensive for Sunday lunch
I feel that the Drift pub could be a whole lot better. The staff that served us were well meaning and friendly but what happened inbetween the restaurant and the kitchen is no ones guess. The starters came out in a reasonable time and were of a reasonable quality. For a table of 5 adults and one toddler the wait for the main meals was, I'm afraid, ridiculous. Finally we had to ask how much longer we had to wait. When the food arrived the three pie dishes were, at best, disappointing. The pie pastry was like concrete. The filling dry and unappetising. I think this was a tell tale sign of how long they had been under the lights in the kitchen. We left a large proportion of our meals. The pea risotto for the toddler was tasteless mush. Still hungry we had a pudding. We wish we hadn't bothered. The summer fruit crumbles were a dusting of dry pastry not resembling a crumble that I am familiar with. Finally, after nearly three hours!!! We were presented with the bill. A £16.00 service charge had been added. That was asked to be taken off immediately. We did leave a tip but only for the friendly staff. I wanted the restaurant to be good but it wasn't. From my experience a big improvement is needed.
Good food, good service. Amazing location in The New Forest!
Excellent friendly waitress, good food. Interesting table set up for couples but didn’t spoil the meal.
Lovely and quiet restaurant mid afternoon
We have always enjoyed food and drinks at the drift but this Sunday the food was poor and did not represent the value that we were expecting.
A real shame.
Even tho we booked a party of 17 arrived before us so there was a 45 minute wait for food. We were early so they brought our booking forward and we sat outside til our food was ready.
Lovely roast dinner, good size portions. Cant fault the service but they add the service charge to the bill, should be optional.
Great service very friendly and a credit to the Drift also good food
Menu very small. Not a wide range of food to choose from. Burger, burger, burger, pie or steak but no steak available when we were there. No healthy choice either just chips chips or chips.
Had to ask for our drinks 3 times, waited about 20 mins for 2 bottles of cider to be brought over. Then had to ask for glasses. No ice in glasses which by then I’d given up. Food was ok, the new forest setting makes you pay over the odds for a burger.
Last time we came a couple of years ago it was lovely. I remember having a lamb shank but this wasn’t on the menu now. For the big re vamp on menu change which is going around social media it was a big disappointment
Its been a while since we have eaten here but, we noticed on our return trip on Sunday evening the menu was greatly reduced. We felt the food was over priced.
Came here on a friday lunch time for a catch up with old friends. Had booked in advance and were seated In a section that was completely empty. Waiter took our drinks order and didn't return with them for about 30 mins, which I thought was odd as the place was so quiet. We ordered food when he brought the drinks, then waited a further 45 mins for the food to arrive. I had the sea bream from the specials board, which was delicious however, the crushed new potatoes it sat on was only luke warm. At no point did anyone come to ask how the meal was, and there was never any passing staff to speak to. Eventually it became clear that the reason for the shockingly bad service, was that there was a wedding in progress, which presumably was where most of the staff were.
All in all, I would recommend this place as I have had a nice meal in the past. I would just advise that you check in advance that they do not have a big function at the same time, as they clearly can't handle it.
