The Drum Inn
Dating back to 1936 The Drum's claim to fame is its architect; the world famous Sir Edwin Lutyens (www.lutyenstrust.org.uk). Lutyens designed the pub as the focal point of the village and today his beautiful vision retains all its traditional charm thanks to a recent million pound restoration project that replaced its thatched roof, restored its beautiful gardens and made the most of its superb views.
Designed as the village focal point by Sir Edwin Lutyens, The Drum is one of the country's most distinctive pubs, having a thatched roof and set in a picturesque village. It has beautiful gardens and superb views.
Food was great. Excellent quality and portion size.
Outstanding location. One of my favourite places.
Able to use gourmet society card which proved even greater value!
Very friendly pub, where even the dogs were made welcome!
The Drum is a must for anyone visiting Cockington. Inside or outside seating;, a peaceful and scenic location.
The Inn is attractive from the outside with adequate seating and space for children to play, and the bar area is comfortable although can be crowded. The dining area though was bare and ‘cheap’, like a bad motorway station. I will not take guests there again.
The food and service was good but 4 of us did first have to send back our Sunday roasts to warm up as they arrived a little on the cold side. It seemed a case of hard working, polite staff being run off their feet. Hot plates would help.
Three of us chose the new wagyu beef burgers but were disappointed the taste seemed like regular burgers. We wanted them cooked medium but that was not possible according to management.
Other food options were good with excellent presentation.
Seemingly an isolated large place in a small village yet quite close and easy to find but you have to navigate a one way system.
We would definitely go back but avoid the wagyu beef. This would make a good place to visit regularly.
Great environment. Varied menu. Good service. Welcoming real fire in cold weather.
Having steered clear for many years heard you had improved. Had Sunday lunch with 5 , we all enjoyed our meal. I have since retuned upon 6 different occasions - all good. I have recommended you to many friends approx 18 and no complaints .... Thank your chef.... I am back again this Sunday...table for four.
End of. Long list of unavailable menu items.
Long wait for service.
Despite over email offers!
Starters were just about ok.
Main meal fish and chips was more than disappointing. Small cold portion of mushy peas. Cod was wet and soggy. Impossible to cut! It was tasteless. Just tasteless!!!!
It’s bloody good value for money, plus it was nice for Sunday Lunch with my Brother & Nephew
I asked for my steak medium, however it came out the stage past well done - the staff were very helpful and overall it was a lovely meal and we would return.
