Excellent menu choice and quality with very good service. Would strongly recommend.
Starters superb. Venison excellent. Monkfish on bone not our preference. Ambience and staff and decor is top notch. Third time here and will be back. Xmas menu looked really good and well priced too.
As regular diners we wanted to try the updated menu.
The Soup and Devilled Cod’s cheeks were very tasty and nicely presented. The Mains were the Vegetarian Option and the Double Cheeseburger and a side. We both had the blackberry and quince crumble.
All the food was tasty and well presented. We had some water, a non-alcoholic cider and a Virgin Mary. Therefore we paid for 2x 3 course lunches and drinks. With Service we had change from £60. It was pleasantly quiet but had a steady flow of diners.
To whom may receive this, we have been to the Drumming Snipe a few times and really enjoyed the hospitality and the food, especially the hamburgers which are my favourite.
Yesterday we had a business lunch there and I ordered the hamburger on the lunch menu, which was a double cheeseburger, when it arrived I was rather engrossed in our discussion and just tucked in as usual. The fries were great, however the burger should not have been called a double patty burger as the patties were tiny - not only tiny but the meat had been cooked until dry and hard - really upsetting especially in the company I was with who all frowned on the quality of the burgers. Just feel that it needed to be reported as if I had scrutinised the burger on delivery, would not have started, but changed it for something else.
Just was rather disappointed and unexpected on the day
Our first visit was for Sunday lunch. My daughter chose pork which was delicious & having looked at the beef on the plate of a fellow customer on the next table I decided I would go for the beef as it didn’t look gristly (a previous review said the beef was gristly on their visit) sadly my beef did come gristly so a lot of waste.
When the plates were taken away the waitress could see beef gristle that was left, I quietly said it was lovely apart from the beef, straight away the manager came over to apologise & offered us both a free pudding as compensation, which we happily accepted. The staff were extremely helpful from start to finish, the pub is lovely with a fabulous covered outdoor space. The only gripe I would have is the cost of the wine per bottle, it is very expensive £29 for a bottle of Malbec which can be bought in the supermarket for £9. Ok I accept they are in business to make a profit & have the overheads etc, but £20 mark up on a bottle of wine may result in being the topic of conversation when being asked what you thought of an eating experience.
Very small portions. My Portland Hoggshepards pie was drowned in brown gravy and lumpy.
We were advised to order sides to go with our meals, it was necessary as portions were so small, so I ordered parsnip and leek gratin which did not appear to have either in it but potato in a lot of fat ?butter.
We did not stay for desert.
Very pricy for poor food.
I would not go again.
really imaginative menu, and beautifully cooked food. Service was excellent. Would definitely go back.
Lovey food. Great service.
Really enjoyed the evening.
Much better than the first time we visited but it is now under different management. Not cheap but very good food and attentive staff
Lovely food at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff.
Lovely selection on the set menu, good portion size. Really loved the style of the food and variety. I had the smoked trout starter which was delicious followed buy the burger with lovely double cooked chips. For dessert I had the chocolate fudge cake which really made the meal for me. Exceptional service, I felt welcomed and looked after, especially as I had a baby with me. We will be back!
Went on a Travelzoo voucher so it was amazing value but quality was not compromised and the service was excellent.
A little extravagent for a Monday evening but a real treat
I love this place, staff so friendly and accommodating and the food is the best in the area. Great wine list too. It is definitely becoming one of our favourite places .
Helpful and friendly staff serving very god Sunday lunch - no complaints and would return.
Had great service and the food was amazing as usual!
the room was cold and thought we asked for the radiator to be turned on this was deemed unnecessary. Th service started ok But I lost track of the number of times we were asked by different people if our food was OK which was very annoying. The roast was very average though the pudding was good. Shan't be rushing back!
Very good choice on menu but poorly executed. Toast with starters more like limp dried out bread. 3 of us had the monkfish with brown crab & there wasn’t a hint of crab flavour. Inconsistency in cooking between visits. A great shame won’t be returning any time soon.
Very nice food just wish there was a dairy free desert option, tad expensive for what I feel was small portion sizes, otherwise staff very very nice helpfull and on point always,
Lovely vibe, excellent food and superb variety of wine
Lovely menu plus super food and service. Please keep it up!
Beautiful food, served by some of the most attentive waiting staff you could wish for. What more could you want?
Rare to give 100% but the team here truly deserve it. Great service, great food and great location. Team has invested to try to ensure this space works whatever the weather. Worth supporting!
I received an email from you on 16/09 stating the new menu launches on 28th Sept. So booked for 28th and was surprised to have to choose from the old menu and no explanation given. My wife and I had been looking forward to sampling the new menu which has some dishes we would have been keen to try.
Post half marathon run Sunday lunch. Excellent
Just disappointed with the roast meals we had . Only 1 slice of pork on mine and my husbands sirloin was chewy .
Roast potatoes not brilliant and veg was sparse and boring .
Shame as we drove quite a way to get there
no sorry i would not recommend them to anyone
Fantastic birthday dinner with friends outdoors with a heater. The food and service was great and the prosecco was flowing.
This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. We sat in the tented area outside which was a perfect temperature. The food was very tasty and service excellent. We'll be back!
First time we have been since it reopened. Lovely food and excellent service. Look forward to going back again shortly and trying out then new menu due shortly.
Always fabulous! Love the food, great service, great ambience!
Very nice birthday lunch - food was fab and the weather was great so we sat outside. Staff very friendly, welcoming and responsive.
Delicious food - we all had fish for lunch - two courses for £16 very good value. We were offered the opportunity to sit in the garden in the sun even though we had booked inside as there was a table free. We have been a few times an can highly recommend.
Wonderful birthday celebration with my sisters. Food was wonderful, love the ambience and look of the drumming snipe. Service was excellent and I bought this on a Travelzoo deal so good value for money. They even gave my sister a separate pudding plate with Happy Birthday on! So very pleased all round
Decent place , decent food , decent Price . Will be returning
We had the Sunday roast which was very average. Friends had the meat option which came with a separate plate of sides, I had the vegan option which did not?? Vegetables were over cooked and only carrots and cabbage - nothing green at all. Drinks service was slow and we had to ask several times. I thought it was over priced for what we had.
The 3 of us had the Sunday roast, the meat flavour was superb. The plates nice and warm, but the food could have been a little hotter, we all thought that. Roast potatoes excellent. This is my 3rd visit and will go again.
Been here twice for lunch and was blown away by both food and service - very disappointing this time around. No toilet paper in the ladies, had to ask to order drinks after waiting nearly 15 minutes, twice my husband was told ale had run out but then was still charged for it. Food was nice but not the amazing quality for lunch. Overpriced and the 12.5% service charge not warranted - I did mention I’d be happy to pay 10% but it was removed entirely which was a nice touch and the manager did come over to apologise which again was appreciated. A shame as we were so looking forward to it and it was a let down - would return for lunch based on previous experiences but not for dinner
Food and service were excellent, however, menus very pretentious and prices over the top
Service just so professional, food great, but priced accordingly.
Another great meal at the Drumming Snipe, the standard is still as good as ever. Good to see that some of the favourites are still on the menu but that there are new choices for us on the menu. Very good service as well, although our table was a bit close to the kitchen door so we were disturbed a bit by the constant moving in and out.
