The Duck & Willow
Normally a huge hit however the service wasn’t as good this time round, slow with refilling drinks, not bringing out cutlery with our main courses, not decorating the table with all the balloons etc despite dropping these off hours before our booking having already agreed with the staff and they were more than happy to do it however they ‘forgot’ 🤔 normally happy to pay over the odds for food and drink in here due to the service however the little things were missed on this occasion
2 diners: had mushroom gnocchi and prawn/salmon cocktail for starters, both excellent, light dishes with plenty of flavours. Both had rib eye steaks for main course - very tender with amazing grill flavour. Rather too many chunky chips to finish, but otherwise the balance of the plate was great.
Efficient and friendly service in a cosy, lively, modern pub setting.
The food, service and atmosphere were all great. The only complaint I have is that I had my elbows on the table all evening as I was taking to my friend opposite me and I ended up with the skin rubbed off both elbows! They are quite sore and I will end up with 2 scabs! There must have been a rough surface on the table for that to have happened so next time I will keep my elbows off the table or wear long sleeves! Apart from that was a lovely evening :)
Overall experience was adequate, with the food being reasonably good, though not overly special. Service was not absolute however, with one of the staff members not making us feel welcome at all; attitude was not expected for the role she currently resides as. A simple smile and a warmer welcome would be an improvement.
We came here for my Mum's 60th, and had a wonderful time. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. The pub was quite busy, but the atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be going back and cannot recommend it highly enough
Food delicious, good service, wine very expensive. Would have liked to have been given the option to buy a bottle of wine to be cost effective, as had we have realised the cost, we would have done so.
Quality food at a reasonable price, nice surroundings and friendly staff.
Wetherspoons it ain't !!!
Was expecting a lot more when we attended the Duck & Willow - service very slow. Food ok but meat stringy and fatty. Had to ask for the carrots which was supposed to be included with the meal and were given 3 carrots for 4 people. Very overpriced for what you get. Not sure would return.
It was the first time me and my wife tried this place and we could not fault it. The food was the best I’ve had in a long time, the service was spot on and the overall look and feel about the place was perfect. We will be back for sure.
Love coming here for food and drinks! All the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the roast beef is amazing!!
I don’t know why but it took ages for our food to come. We must have waited a good 45 minutes for our starters and it was nothing complicated. The restaurant wasn’t even full. It was tasty but I thought a little overpriced for what you got. Good quality wine though and in that respect you get what you pay for.
Yes would definitely recommend to a friend. We already know a lot of people who go to the Duck and Willow. We are lucky to be able to walk there so we can both enjoy a nice bottle of wine or a good beer. The menu is excellent, great choice !
Brilliant food and so welcoming to dogs! Service on Friday 28 June was not as good as it has been in the past. It was slow and unfriendly which is unusual. Excellent steak though and generally (on other times we have visited) a really lovely experience.
1st time ive eaten here and chose pre prom breakfast with my son we both lovely food we both very much enjoyed it. Will be returning to try sunday lunch in a few weeks and very much looking forward to it.
Delicious roast, friendly service!
First visit, friendly staff, nice choice of menu. I had asparagus with poached egg starter, could have done with some bread to mop up egg/sauce, shame to waste it! Acoustics made it very noisy at times. But overall enjoyed my dinner & hope to return some time.
Totally amazing service. Food was good and we really enjoyed it. Not cheap but we will definitely go back.
Lovely place, never fails to exceed our expectations, great for kids too.
Amazing roast, the puddings are even better. Its a lovely pub and the staff are great. I have a small suggestion- your tables are quite high and your high chairs are quite low, higher high chairs would be awesome as my little one had trouble reaching his plate
Had Sunday lunch, was brilliant. Will be back soon!
The food was amazing. The pub was dirty though. Really thick dust on the windowsills with dead insects piled up. My husband actually cleaned it himself with a baby wipe. The high chairs were filthy, they clearly hadn’t been cleaned for some time, we had to clean it ourselves before using it.
The changing facilities for babies is good, the sign saying help yourself to nappy bags and wipes was a lovely touch but no bags or wipes available.
The roast beef was delicious.
Would recommend not allowing people to book tables at 12 though as they don’t open the doors until 12 so when we arrived slightly early for our table we were left standing outside the pub! Maybe have first bookings available from 12:15?
Attentive staff, lovely food and atmosphere.
Gorgeous food and made to feel very welcome. Super sweet young lady served us & I had a lovely birthday Sunday lunch
Great food and atmosphere. Would recommend it to anymore who wants a chilled night out
Had Sunday Roast. Beef cooked rare which was good. I had Gammon which was cut a bit thick for my personal liking. Lots of meat on all dinners though. Huge Yorkshire and plenty of veg. Not enough gravy so asked for some more but it never materialized. Service was a bit slow but it was a busy Sunday sitting so could be different in a quieter time. Not the cheapest place around £14.50/£14.95 just for one course and drinks were all £4.50 ish.
Friendly staff good service and very tasty food. Overall a very enjoyable evening
Lovely food especially the Gammon and Poached Duck Eggs, very generous portions.
Brilliant atmosphere and the staff are very friendly.
Lovely veggie roast, amazing Yorkies! Partner liked his burger. Big portions and nice staff!
Lovely staff and great food, would highly recommend
Sunday lunch was amazing , Just how it should be . Ample portion
Will definately be back
Sunday lunch great service, lovely interior.
First visit will definitely be going back.
Great food and service also excellent.
Could do with another 1 or 2 vegetarian options, as i have been twice in last month and had the 2 vegetarian dishes already!
Very nice evening - good food - nice atmosphere. Would recommend.
Lovely food. A little overpriced as most pub food is these days. Delightful staff
Had a lovely late mother's day meal! Nice table out the way, the roast diners were amazing everyone in my party said so. Portions were big and excellent value for money. Cauliflower cheese was the best!
Our first visit and we really enjoyed it, food, staff and atmosphere absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend.
Lovely food in a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit. The table was a bit tight, not much room to move!
Another fantastic meal, had a lovely Sunday roast for mother’s day which included a free glass of Prosecco for my wife
Nice pub restaurant, making an effort to supply an excellent evening out. Good food, good service at a reasonable price.
The place is nice, staff is very nice and accommodating. Food was mediocre. Ordered duck - was not great. Side dish of honey roasted carrots was boiled carrots with bit of honey on them- not what I was expecting. Maybe I had a bad luck... if it goes about place atmosphere staff definitely would recommend, food- not necessarily
