Great atmosphere and food , good live music would definitely recommend it for a drink or meal.
The pork belly was delicious, and the gf date pudding exceptional.
The staff are all very helpful, welcoming, efficient and polite.
It can get quite noisy in there on a busy day but adds to the atmosphere.
Lovely Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day. Always a great meal, fantastic service and a warm and friendly atmosphere.
It was a very good lunch. We shared the smoked salmon with the poached egg and I wish we had not. It was excellent so I would have liked my "own" portion. The Cod was superb. All in all a very good lunch. The Duke was quiet .
Always excellent food. Super service and great atmosphere. I would always recommend The Duke for food or drinks.
All very good....just don't have the linguine! Def will go back....nice food and atmosphere
Superb family atmosphere, great Sunday Lunch. We would definitely be back.
Great place good food and atmosphere.. Good price on cocktails and gin
Fantastic roast at The Duke. Beef was listed as medium rare and it really was! Was eyeing up other tables starters and all of them looked amazing. Will definitely be back for Sunday dinner and food in general. Good attentive service and the live music was a bonus.
Service started off well but then our waitress was on bar duties so we got left with no replacement found!! Understanding that everyone needs to be part of a team but left diners with no level of service!! Strange way to treat customers!!
We are regulars and love everything about the Duke. The only thing I would say is that when the rugby was put on the television was so loud we couldn't even hear each other. Had to speak loudly even to the person next to me! Might be worth telling people when they come in if that is what the plan is in the future. To be fair they did turn this down when both our table and the one next to us complained
Outstanding we have found our regular Sunday lunch the food was delicious we waited an hour but we didn’t care the service was fabulous
Fantastic food and service but the music was a little bit loud.
the best food in town - have never been disappointed !!!
Fantastic food, venue and staff. Made to feel very welcome and can thoroughly recommend the desserts. Will definitely be eating here again.
Great local pub: excellent service, great food, kid and dog friendly, reasonable prices and there is always someone in there you know!
Excellent food - best roast in London!
Very good service, buzzing atmosphere and cracking food!
The Duke is always fab for Sunday lunch. Good food, friendly service and a lovely local pub. It can get pretty busy and at busy times can feel like a squish however book in advance or go one evening instead when the dining area is much quieter. Thursday night is great for a steak.
My friends and I had a Sunday lunch here and the Duke and its staff were very accommodating and friendly. The food was outstanding and I feel very lucky to live nearby and return here over and over again. Absolutely delicious roast and everyone else's food (the vegan roast and fish dishes) looked incredible.
The Roast was amazing, so much food I couldn't even finish it! I had the Pork and there was lots of meat, the beef look unreal too! It's great for family lunches especially if you have children, we told them in advance we had a baby and the baby chair was there ready and waiting.
It's a lovely buzzy pub with friendly staff, would definitely recommend.
Sunday roasts here are delicious, and the service is friendly and efficient.
Good atmosphere, great staff, lovely food, feel lucky it's my local!
Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. It was lovely and quiet when we arrived (about 10.30). Great food and great pub!
New year days roast dinners were lovely!! Shame had run out of pork belly but good excuse to go again.
Very good, but gets very noisy as the place fills up.
Fabulous steak. Downside of evening was a constant draught from the door.
I live local to The Duke and have been many times for a few drinks. However on this visit with family to eat was disappointing. It was the last weekend before Christmas and we were hoping for something a bit special. It was pointed out to me when I booked that we would not be offered the Christmas menu. I accepted that but the food we had was below standard - tasteless burgers and the food was cold. The seats around the table were also falling apart. Not great as my 78 yr old dad was with us. I won't be in a hurry to book again.
It’s not the first time I’ve been to the duke but it was the first tine we went for brunch. Sadly it was a let down compared to previous dinners there. Food food was ok but I wouldn’t rave about it. The service was the biggest let down though. It took 30 minutes to get someone’s attention to place our order then they got two of the orders wrong. We had finished our food by the tone they bought the things they had forgotten. We were still waiting to order dessert 90 minutes later. We waited so long we gave up and just paid the bill.
The food was amazing (especially the sprouts!) and I don't know why I have never been to this restaurant before. It's a hidden treasure in Wanstead!
My only complain would have to be the noise level although it was a busy Friday before Christmas with many teachers having fun!
Great food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It’s definitely one of my go to places.
Great pub, great food and super friendly and efficient staff.
lovely Sunday lunch.Just what we hoped for a family friendly pub atmosphere.
We shall return
Always a pleasure, glad it's our local pub, atmosphere relaxed, lovely food and staff
Service was fantastic. Nice atmosphere and good food.
We’ve been here a few times, either for dinner or Sunday lunches and do like it, however this time we felt like guests at someone’s wedding when we didn’t know anyone. It was really busy (fully booked) but with big parties. We were an afterthought table for 2 tucked by the kitchen, and felt rushed in and out. I think a bit more thought could go into the seating arrangements in situations like this. It was end of month and end of half term so I’d avoid these times if you are not in a big group. Food was good, flat yorkies and cold plates though which added to the rushed feeling.
Nice Sunday dinner. Very busy , I would recommend booking.
Would definitely go again.
Lovely Sunday roast, big portions, friendly staff, great atmosphere!! Definitely recommend
Fab venue great atmosphere excellent food and service
