The Duke of Wellington
Food was excellent and very friendly service
Food was excellent and service was very good. We sat outside under a sun umbrella due to the weather being really hot. Garden area was very nice with choose of seating available.
It was Father’s Day and the kitchen was very overstretched unfortunately so our food came out very late. However usually they are super efficient so we put it down to being exceptionally busy... the food was excellent and worth the wait!
EXCELLENT SERVICE STRAIGHT AWAY WITH DRINKS AND MENUS
FOOD ORDER ARRIVED PROMPTLY
GOOD STANDARD AND QUALITY OF FOOD
Sunday afternoon decided on Sunday roast. Looked up nearest good Sunday roast with good reviews. Never been before would recommend great service no hassle really enjoyable.
I found the veggie Wellington roast very under whelming. The Wellington itself was under cooked, with raw pastry and not entirely convinced it had been thoroughly warmed all the way through. The roast potatoes were pale; and the vegetables and gravy were both served up in pitifully small portions. The Yorkshire pudding was the only saving grace of the entire thing. I think if the Veggie wellington had been cooked and was hot it too would have lived up to the standard I would have expected from the price tag. The service were abrupt and a bit rude frankly, definitely was made to feel like we were on a conveyor belt and the staff didn't want us there. The pub was cold and we had to keep our jackets on. While the decor is great and the atmosphere from the pub could really feed off of that we left feeling disappointed. I doubt we'll return as there are plenty of nicer friendly places with food that is actually cooked on offer in Surrey.
Good food but was almost overcharged for things on my bill that I didn’t have, so please check your bill
Although they had a problem in the kitchen and a reduced menu the food was wonderful and the staff very helpful and polite
Great food. Would definitely recommend it.
I took my partner there to celebrate her birthday. It was our first time visiting The Duke of Wellington and we were not left disappointed. In fact, we both agreed that it was the best meal we’d ever eaten whilst at a restaurant. The flavours and presentation of ever dish from starter to desert were outstanding. We cannot wait to visit again
Great place !
Fantastic Sunday roast. We had beef, pork and the pie. All delicious and the trimmings were perfectly cooked and served. Would absolutely recommend.
The overall experience was very enjoyable. Only marked down on the food score because the kitchen should not have allowed such fatty lamb rack to be presented in the first place, everything else was very good. Certainly gives the established gastro pubs in the area more than a run for the money.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Staff very welcoming and efficient service.
Intend to return
A good amount variety on the Sunday lunch menu. As a vegetarian it was great to see a good vegetarian alternative rather than a risotto! Portions were large so good value. Lovely ambiance and very friendly staff. A lovely lunch!
Fab Sunday roast
Great as always
Service was great. Just a shame the batters fish had been cooked and battered more than once!
Great gastro pub worth a visit.
Lively atmosphere and good service.
Lovely pub however the service was what can only be described as glacial. The food took forever, a dropped starter by the waitress then took another 20mins to be replaced despite us saying not to bother, and when our roast dinners came - they were cold!! If it had been hot it would have been so lovely as there was plenty of it and it was tasty - but who wants cold roast potatoes & yorkshire puds?!
We had a 3yr old and 10month old with us, and despite chasing several times, the 3yr old's meal took way too long to arrive, which isn't fair on kids -and then they came over to say they didn't even have what we'd ordered.
I'm not sure if the kitchen was understaffed, but we waited nearly 1.5hrs for our main meals, and were assured it was all being cooked freshly & that a big group in the bar area had delayed us all - but there was no massive group from what I saw, and it can't have been cooked to order given all the sides were cold.
The staff were very pleasant but no real sense of urgency with anything, and it's such a shame as it really dampened our experience -and we'd been looking forward to it as the pub came highly recommended & it was a family meal to celebrate birthdays.
We all wanted desserts but didn't have another hour to spare waiting for them - and by then we had two very tired kids who didn't appreciate being stuck at a table for so long!
Real shame as the pub itself is gorgeous & it was busy so is clearly popular - so hopefully this was just an anomaly, but our experience wouldn't make us rush back
Very rushed, food order mixed up, waitress was rather abrupt when my wife queried her order, ate in four different places over the period this was built up by me but was very disappointing.
We went for Sunday Roast and there was no chicken option! #FirstWorldProblems I know, but the Vegi roast option wasn't great and I don't eat any other meat. I found it very strange indeed. Other than that, everything else was really nice.
Very attentive staff who were welcoming and informative. Dog friendly even inside. Food was tasty with some interesting and different alternatives. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Booked specifically for the lobster dinner and on arrival was told it had sold out and it is not possible to make a reservation as it is a first-come first served basis, even though that wasn't explained when making the booking. The food was good but a but disappointed as it was supposed to have been a special dinner out.
Went as reccommended by a friend to try the Lobster special . Booked for 6.45 so was very dissapointed to be told that the Lobster had sold out and that i should have pre booked the lobster as a special request on my open table booking !
The starters were good - home made mushroom soup and scallop and prawn rissotto . Main course of hake was good . My wife had a sirl;oin steak for £27 which was the most expensive option and this was very dissapointing . The steak was cooked medium but was not particularly tender and tasted bland . ( For £3 more the bone in Rib eye at the Ivy in guildford is far superior ) . The sides of New potatoes were very poor no flavour at all and frankly not new in my opinion - a better description would be plain boiled potatoes. The second side of cabbage and peas was also very poor - no taste and the shreddded cabage was undercooked and sprinkled with a few peas .
Sorry but gastro pub is not how i would describe The Duke of Wellington
A great atmosphere, impeccable presentation. The food was delicious, steak was cooked perfectly for me. They also accommodated all requests for my 3 year old daughter, very friendly to us as a family
Nice decor, food dining pub with a small bar area and outside drinking area. Service is a little hit and miss, needs to be a little more attentive and it would be great. Good choice of food, good tastes.
Good food with excellent service. Not the cheapest which was not a problem- because I got....good food with excellent service.
Had a lovely meal with friends. Good service and lovely atmosphere. Nice touch with blankets outside for when the sun goes down. Will definitely go again
Very pleased with the service.
Everyone very friendly
Another visit to this very welcoming pub/restaurant and our party of 4 were made very welcome with great service and great Sunday lunch food. This was our third visit and all of our group were impressed. Got the last car park spot so were relieved.
It is obvious that the pub thinks long and hard about customer satisfaction and they practice what they preach.
Great lunch location, service was amazing with good
Food. Food could have been severed a little slower, our pre stater arrived with our starter
It was a lovely pub lunch with great food. The lunch board under starters was amazing. A beautiful sharing plate with lots of flavour.
The staff were very friendly. We thought the food was overpriced, although cooked well. Exceptionally noisy so not the place for us.
Worth the drive for a lovely meal, very well cooked and with excellent service First choice for birthday and celebration meals
Lovely pub, great atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food. Would definitely recommend this pub and will return again.
A lovely evening a deux with my wife Food good and quiet enough to talk comfortably by lively enough for some atmosphere. Service was very good from all.
All in all a really enjoyable way to relax into the weekend.
Start of Holiday somewhere special
Lovely - great staff and great food
