Booked a table for our Wedding Anniversary but on the day they rang to say they were closed and we had to eat at their sister restaurant 15 mins away.
Think it is closed permanently?!
Wonderful evening meal with friends. Easy access in Sunninghill. Will be going back there.
Very disappointed after have a previous good meal.
excellent food and décor and friendly efficient waitress but I personally thought it was a bit cold in temperature and it would have been nice to have had the fire lit - both for ambience and warmth
Had a lovely meal at the bar and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend a visit
Great for cocktails but i found the food dissapointing & expensive.
Great service and good food. Well priced and the ambience is welcoming and cosy if not a little bit too dark - reading menu was tricky without glasses!!
Food, great, interiors very well done. It was just a real shame that it was almost empty, it deserves to be buzzing. l do think that one of our party had soup to start and fresh bread / roll should have been offered.
Other than that, very good.
Great evening, good and service. Would def go back.
Excellent food and really friendly service. Best food in Sunninghill in my opinion!
Having been to this restaurant a few times before and had a great meal and service. I thought as it was my birthday my husband and I would take our friends that had not been before and that we had really raved it too. But how disappointed were we....
It took 20 minutes to get a drink when we first arrived. After a few mimosa's we were told there was no more sorbet so had to choose another cocktail which when it arrived had salt around the top instead of sugar. We all ordered the scotch egg to start but was told after a while that there were only 3 left. 2 people in my party had ordered the burger which we then had to ask for the chips then of course by the time the chips came the burgers was cold. My friend then ordered the sponge pudding with custard (that was on the website menu) only to be told that was last months selection.
To top it all we went to the toilet before leaving only to find no toilet paper..
It will be quite a while before I go back and I certainly will not be recommending The Duke to any other friends.
The food is great, but the atmosphere is awkward. The Duke is trying to be high-end, but despite being in an affluent village they don't seem to have been able to attract a regular, local clientele which would seem essential. Tonight the sound of the boisterous guys at the bar was all too prominent.
Nice decor cool speakeasy NY vibe.
Good value lunch menu . Well cooked food .
Service was ok.overall good
The food was delicious as always but the service has gone down hill after initially being superb. My booking was for 5 ...made well in advance... for my birthday but there was no table set for 5 ready for us when I arrived. There were tables with room for 4 that I was able to choose from and was told another setting would be added. So we squeezed into a tiny table for 4 and the 5th person waited over ten minutes for her cutlery, etc to be placed for her. They were just too busy for only 2 waiting staff to be working ( 3 large tables for 6 celebrating that day!) and it resulted in long waits, forgotten items (bottle of water, fresh ground pepper, bottle of prosecco, etc) and constant reminding. Shame because the food is really very good! Bring back the exceptional service.... 10% tip added on as well, I would've only tipped 5% on the day.
As always a wonderful experience, food and service was exceptional.
First time in this re-furbished place under new ownership, good value, friendly service and nice atmosphere - will visit again soon
The first time we went to the Duke it was wonderful, the food was amazing. This time however, the food was very poor. The started was extremely oversalted although they replaced the starters unfortunately they had ruined the taste for the rest of the meal.
Very impressed and will be back. Scallop starter was delicious as was lamb main. Service great and good reasonably priced wine list.
staff very friendly , always willing to help and very attentive.
A very good welcome and plenty of attention (but not too much). Interesting menu for everyday lunch which was good value .
Beautifully renovated with styish colour scheme and eclectic furnishings. Very comfortable atmosphere, cosy and with good service. Good choice of fish dishes on the menu, delicious treacle pudding!
Enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast at The Duke. The menu was amazing value and the food was absolutely delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful, looking forward to returning!
Extremely nice place inside, you wouldn't think so from the outside. Food was fantastic and the staff were really nice, had the special which was steak and was brought a tray with a choice of knives on. Nice touch before the meal. Normally like to decide whether or not to tip as opposed to having it already included in the bill however on this occasion we didn't mind.
Really enjoyed our dinner at the Duke. The heritage steak is fabulous! Only thing we noticed was the brocolli was slightly salty. But we still very much enjoyed our meal!! Highly recommend!
Another good meal here, good value for money and great service, slight criticism that duck salad was a little watery but not a major issue. The rest of the food was tasty as always, with options on the menu to suit everyone
Was lovely but just a bit quiet which I'm sure will change once word gets out that this has had a facelift. Good food and service.
Great decor and vibe, food wasn't pretentious but well crafted, good beer and wine selection. Slightly on the pricey side but not of out kilter with the location.
Attention to detail
Excellent food! We were wowed ! We had a gravilax starter and a rare steak, fries with peppercorn sauce. All for £14. £18 for three courses at lunchtime. We were too full to try the sweet menu, which included Pecan Pie.
Delicious cocktails and marvellous scallops were the highlight
