Excellent food quality and presentation, great value for money, only let down by very slow service.
Lovely atmosphere, great food and great value. We went midweek and it was still busy.
Visit fairly often and its sister The Bell, Godstone. Wednesday’s lunch was disappointing. Scallops, starter size, were sitting awash in garlic butter plus two v. Hard pieces of baguette . No decorative greenery at all. Had I not been meeting up with an old friend and chatting non stop would have commented. Our waiter very pleasant but difficult to understand. Excellent wine.
Good restaurant, reliable, nice atmosphere, good service.
Food was lovely. Restaurant was really loud, there were not enough staff and we had to ask for our drinks after our starters were served about 20 minutes after having order taken.
Initial reception was not great and waiting around 10 minutes to be greeted and seated.
Unfortunately I would not recommend this time.
Showed up for my 11 am Sunday Roast only to find out they don’t open until 12. Additionally, they had no record of my reservation. Bad on open table on both counts. They were great and served me a fantastic meal when the kitchen opened. I love this place.
Nice food, clean, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Well priced and the wagyu burger was great.
Only slight moan that the mains came out when the starters hadn’t been cleared, but they were really busy.
Late afternoon dinner pre-show at the Hawth, Crawley.
Booked a table on line no problem at all and was sent an email confirmation. Great location 10 Mins from Crawley with excellent parking. Large open bar with plenty of seating , clean with nice decor and pleasant staff. Great selection of Beers wine & sprites and my personal favorite DoomBar. The Menu is very good(available on line) we each had a starter, main and desert all of which were very good. we will certainly be returning soon and would recommend to friends Family and anybody looking for a lovely meal and/or drinks.
We had a very enjoyable experience and will definitely return. Our food was well presented and very tasty. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant for a Family Get together, or lunch or early evening meal.
Out shone our previous lunch the Saturday before when told only dinner menu available at lunchtime at weekends! Wrong! As Chef’s choice offered for dessert by another waiter. I wrote to the Manager but got no reply. On this occasion were tempted by new menu with 50% off main course from Chef’s choice menu. Disappointed in main course choice - chicken burger or rib of beef. Starters looked good. Ordered off a la Carte menu.
As always really good, but being very busy had to chase mini pudding. V. Glad that they and their sister public house, the Bell at Godstone are on our doorstep, looking forward to next visit. Pat Burvill
I hadn't been to the Dukes head for many years, it was a very nice experience a lovely open log fire welcomed us as we entered and it was nicely decorated for Christmas. The food was very good, I will definitely return in the new year.
I’ve eaten a few times @Dules Head , always
a good meal , & very seasonal meals .
I was disappointed to say the least and have left a review on Trip Adviser telling them so! Very poor service and when it came, they had the order wrong! When it was served for the second time the food was cold and was returned to the kitchen. It was so noisy it was very difficult to hold a conversation! The mini pud and coffee should be served together and wasn’t! Would not recommend or return!
Been here a few times x food has always been excellent
The restaurant was fine but we were lucky to get a table as Open Table either didn't forward the booking or the venue doesn't handle them reliably. In the end they had space and explained it happened a lot so no disaster, but I'd recommend phone to book a table.
They had a reduced menu due to no grill on that day but food was fine.
A real hidden/ unknown gem... as a gluten intolerant diner, I get so annoyed when we aren't catered for (half the stuff taken off the plate, but yet still charged the extortionate amount).... NOT here.. I've been a few times now and have thoroughly enjoyed each time. The manager is attentive, friendly and a real character! He takes time and effort to entertain the children, make sure they are catered for - so the adults can enjoy their food. The service is great, the food is amazing and if you're a gluten free eater, you have to try this restaurant/ pub..
it's so random as it's literally on a roundabout between east grinstead and Crawley... but 100% worth the trip... id definitely book, though!! Enjoy x
The staff were inattentive and we were left a long time without even being offered a drink, despite reserving in advance. Probably just not enough people on and those who were there not sufficiently experienced at keeping track of all the customers. Starter good, main fair (colleague complained his linguine was overcooked) and dessert was good. Parking easy, so has the ingredients of a decent place if they can get the right ratio (and quality) of serving staff to diners.
Great service, the Mezze starter to share was extremely good, we weren't rushed to eat it .
Mains were served when we were ready .
The Dukes Head is our favourite since years. We always bring friends and family for lunch and sometimes for dinner. One of the best near Crawley 😊
Fabulous food good service and the ambience was delightful.
Meal wasn't great, my husband had the worse rib eye steak he's ever had, no wonder it was covered up by three onion rings and certainly wasn't worth £22.95 I had the spit roast chicken that wasn't great either we won't be rushing back in a hurry!!!
