Nice meal, excellent surroundings. My only minor gripe being that I am not a fan of food served on wooden boards. If I realised I would have asked for a plate when ordering. Didn't spoil the occasion
We were welcomed like friends of the family and shown straight to our table. It was very busy but in a nice way. Not much noise so it was very relaxing. The drinks arrived very quickly and our perfectly cooked steaks arrived quicker than I expected.
The only problem we found was the main meal was so good we couldn't find room for dessert.
Very pleasant lunch in lovely surroundings. Plenty of outside space
I chanced on The Dumb Post a few weeks ago with a friend. This time another friend suggested lunch and immediately thought of The Dumb Post as a perfect venue given the glorious weather. A decision I do not regret one iota.
Excellent food but staff need to learn how to wear their face masks over their nose as well as their mouth and dogs should be kept in the dog only parts.
Went for lunch on Monday, the food was great and can’t fault that, but the service wasn’t attentive at all.
After being seated, we had our order taken. When mains came, we asked if we could order more drinks, waiter said he would return but didn’t, I had to go to the bar and order.
Once we had eaten our starter, the plates and board were left on the table, and then when we had finished everything and the kids were having pudding were asked if we wanted them cleared away.
We weren’t checked on to see if every thing was ok either. It wasn’t very busy, so was quite disappointed by this.
Hoping this was an off day, as enjoyed the food.
First time visit, will defiantly come again. Amazing toast, great surroundings and friendly service.
Very nice food in the garden , terrific views , would definitely recommend.
Lovely setting, great service and great food! Will be returning!
Excellent food, good value, highly recommend.
My experience was that the food wasnt particuarly great quality for the price you pay.
It was great. Friendly helpful staff and lovely food.
Was ok, but not fussed about having food served on wooden boards.
China plates every time please.
Amazing food, service and very puppy/child friendly!
My husband is currently on crutches and we really fancied a treat so booked a table at The Dumb Post it really cheered us up the views were stunning from our table the food was delicious and overall a fabulous experience just what we needed
Amazing setting for our family meal, food for all tastes and fantastic service
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere! 10/10 !! Well done Dumbpost
Sat outside by bar - noisy music, asked to be moved for a better view and less noise - very, very lovely staff, who moved us. Thank you - a very pleasant experience overall.
The staff were great, the food was outstanding and the appearance of the pub is modern and cosy; what I expect from a country pub.
Good service, although fair bit of food not available from menu, tables need spreading out more, was back to back with gentleman behind me, and was impossible to leave table without everyone getting up. Overall, a decent experience. Would come again.
Great food, great location, great staff.
Very friendly staff, well organised. Brilliant food- all fresh, large portions, really good Yorkshire puddings. Good value too. Have booked to come back again this Sunday.
Unfortunately did not realise that on a Sunday the menu was very restricted so not much choice if you did not want a full roast lunch. My last visit was mid-week & I was very impressed with the menu then but not this time.
Also disappointed we were sitting in a small back room, very dull, very noisy with the kitchen door swinging behind me & staff rushing in & out of it.
Staff still very friendly & good service throughout.
A lovely place to go to during the week on a sunny day!
We were disappointed. My wife's fish (looking almost certainly frozen Iceland-type) was served half-cold and only half-cooked so was sent back; the second piece looked better and was served piping hot but had little flavour, while the triple-cooked chips were only average. Meanwhile I had almost finished my beefburger; I can quite believe that it came from Roses, the traditional butchers in Devizes, as the burger itself was excellent and well cooked, but it was spoiled by being served on a narrow plank of wood with little cutting room, and the fries were certainly frozen ones anad not particularly good - the meat deserved proper home-made chips!
The pub was busy and appeared also to be catering for a wedding, which was perhaps a factor, but although the landlord apologised for the fish incident he didn't knock anything off the bill- said he would make it up to us next time, but we're by no means sure there will be a next time I'm afraid!
First time at the dumb post inn. The atmosphere was great for a Friday night. Lots of people having food and drinks. Service was outstanding and the food really well presented. The pineapple cheesecake was certainly different! Looking forward to going back in better weather so we can sit outside and enjoy the view.
Great food, really friendly service. We will be back
Lovely meal, delicious food. My only disappointment was my favourite starter being unavailable but everything else made up for this. Yummy.
Very nice food . Staff really friendly and helpful.
The staff at The Dumb Post could not have been more friendly and efficient. The outside seating with great cover and heaters was lovely. The outside bar is very cool. The food is fairly standard pub food but we would go back for the ambiance alone.
Lovely pub in a beautiful location. A perfect place to catch up with family/friends with great food and staff!
Such a fantastic setting. Food was good although the starter sharing plate was small for the price. Burgers were very good and so was fish and chips. Beautiful place in a warm sunny day.
Always a nice place to visit and enjoy the food and scenery!
Everything was great apart from the weather but we had taken blankets and coats. Definitely be back soon.
Due to downpour the staff agreed to do our meal as a takeaway. But the weather cleared and they gave us a covered table as we'd be gone before the next reservation came :)
Unfortunately When you book online you assume that you are sitting outside on the proper tables with the canopy over you with the heaters but now we were put in the middle of a field on a park bench to eat a roast dinner which was very dry
Weather wasn’t great but regardless felt warm and welcome
Chicken burger was undercooked, slightly pink and very rubbery, looked like it was cooked with the skin on, not good at all
Nice friendly staff, lovely food and really good atmosphere. The outdoor heating was a real plus.
lovely food & they've made the outside area very cosy.
