I come back here time and time again - always wonderful. Best Caribbean food available.
Had a lovely meal at the Dutchie, as per usual. Food was so yummy, I ordered take away from their other branch the following day!
Great food and great value. No point being in a rush. Took 20 mins to order a round of drinks, further 10 to get them, then the food order was taken.
Friendly staff, good service and lovely food. A great place to eat and chill with family and friends.
It was nice to find an authentic Caribbean restaurant in the neighbourhood. Croydon parking is a challenge though so leave extra time and bring extra cash to park. The restaurant is worth it!
I can’t for my sons birthday. He loved it. It was his first time now he keeps saying when are we going back. He and my daughter said the jerk was really nice.
Very good food, nice atmosphere, service was quick
Food was good and came hot and coctails were good. Very good service from a lovely waitress. Nice atmosphere.
Nice Restaurant food was good will be going back there soon
I Visited here on valentine’s day with a couple of my girlfriends, after wanting to come here for soooo long and always hearing about it. Before attending I read a number of reviews and saw that one of the things that brought this restaurant down was their service and I can say this is very true.
Firstly the waitress got my drinks order wrong and it took them a while to replace it even though my friends were on their second cocktails.
Secondly me and my friend ordered the same thing. My friend with sweet potato fries and I ordered normal fries. Both came with sweet potato fries. I immediately told the waiter that I ordered normal chips and he said he’ll bring them right out. He never did and I never saw him again. To be fair I think he worked in the kitchen and isn’t really on the front scene. Our main waiter looked extremely tired and over worked. If he could fall asleep on the spot he would’ve. You can tell these waiters/waitresses work very long hours.
On a positive note the food and atmosphere was amazing. They had a dj (wasn’t too sure if it was due to the occasion) but that was a bonus.
On a whole this restaurant has potential but the service lets it down tremendously. Saying that though I would visit here again.
The food is good authentic Jamaican food but the service is a bit sloppy because the had us seating there for a number of minutes just waiting to get served and once we did get served it's about another 30 mins to a hour before we got our food but at the same time it was worth the wait cause the food was really good
Had an enjoyable time once again at the Dutchie. Tasty food, quick service, yummy cocktails all at a reasonable price. Will definitely be back again soon and CANNOT wait for the new branch to open closer to where I live!
The food was amazing but their services were horrible, I had to wait 30 mins before I get my food and another 10 mins for my sides. The staff were very slow and unfriendly.
Good food, very authentic dishes with lots of flavour.
A casual looking restaurant but with a relaxed atmosphere.
The staff were friendly but a few of them still need more training on how to serve.
The service, very slow at times, could be better.
to slow some of food come out by time rest come first lot had finsh was hoping to eat to gether
Good to find a restaurant open on a Monday night. Got 2 for 1 alcoholic cocktails, but not for mock tails.
We were seated near the staff order area so lighting was very dim (you might like that). Unfortunately every time they made a cocktail the sound of the blender made talking impossible.
Most of the staff were nice and friendly. I'd go again but specify a brighter less noisy location.
It’s a shame this Restuarant is not on the high street I think people are missing out!
Really good meal and authentic taste cocktails are great too you just can’t complain.
Prices are decent atmosphere is great it’s a must for proper Caribbean food.
Good food and staff try their best. Management need to ensure staff pay attention to diners as the wait to be served is too long. The treble from the speakers playing music is ear piecing. Turn it down and add bass tone. As a person who cooks, it's noted that the sauce for the chicken and Oxtail is too thick! Overall experience 7.5 out of 10.00
Delicious food! Wicked cocktails and good atmosphere!
I went on Thursday night and it was nice - not too busy and the staff were very engaging and attentive. Fridays and Saturdays are busy and lively but good. The food is always D E L I C I O U S
Second visit to this place and I was not disappointed, food very tasty, portions large and filling, atmosphere lovely and you can really be yourself. Nice to be surrounded by your own people, comfortable and relaxing, cocktails 2 for 1 brilliant, location not to bad as parking is a pain sometimes. Overall experience excellent would visit again and again. Staff attentive and polite.
Nice Restaurant to visit and well done to the owner and staff. Love the concept.
Well let's start by saying I love the concept but services is slow goat and Oxtail was a little under cook for my liking the flavour was great just needed to be cooking a little longer . The prawn starter big waste of money and tasted horrible . I loved how the food was served up n the two for one cocktail great. Seating could be more comfortable. And had to rushave and get our has it was far tooo noisy in there and the AC wasn't working were were all sweating and was over it.
Great food at a great price, will be back soon!
This is my second time visiting Ritchie and I always enjoy the food and generally enjoy the casual vibe of this happening spot, however this time on of our servers was quite obviously in a rush to get my party out the booth that he failed to offer the dessert menu, and when it was requested that members of my party did in fact want to order a dessert he told us that out seats/booth has another booking...basically saying "time to go....Not what I expected at all and really upset what otherwise was a really nice evening. Very disappointing
This is Caribbean food at its best. The restaurant itself is casual but the service isn't. Everything we've tried is delicious and well presented. We've been both on a Saturday evening when after 9.30pm the music could get 'club' loud, and also on a week-day evening when chilling and chatting with friends and great food made for a wonderful evening. Book to ensure a table as this little gem is very popular.
Need to state what the fish is I thought I was going to get cod but it was not. also to much batter could not taste fish what Eva the fish was
Food was nice ! Cocktails were lit would defo recommend a friend :)
Third time going and still cannot fault anything. Food, cocktails, atmosphere all excellent.
Usual have a good time . But this time despite pre order for 16. Waited a long time to be seated and also for food. As people b4 us we're really late. I was the last one to be served. Some of us had already finished before I started. Food good. Were offered a discount. Thanks dutchie
I really enjoyed my time at the Dutchie it was proper authentic Caribbean food just like being back on the islands.
Great cocktails nice vibe all night what prevents this getting 5 stars the service is slow, although we had a 8pm booking we had to wait about 10 mins to be shown our table.
Drinks and food took a while to come out but it was worth the wait!
Great food even better cocktails and I will be going back!
Enjoyed this evening meal very much, with delicious food. A lot better than my first experience there.
I went the previous week with a friend, the service and food was outstanding. I booked to come back the following week, I was not let down. Might be back for a third week. Polite, friendly staff, clean venue, comfy environment and good menu with lots of options. Not to mention the bogof cocktails during happy hour.
Food was nice tasted fresh seasoned well priced a little high though macaroni didn't have no flavour at all!!
Waited 15 minutes for my drink it was strange as there wasn't anybody in the restaurant really,
Waiters didn't have a smile or no eye contact with you just very straight faced except Jordan one of the Waiters really pleasant young guy,
Drinks where really nice also the place had a very BAD STRONG sewer smell in there off putting really
Really good! Used to pass everyday smelling the sweet aroma of jerked meat. finally had a takeway which was a very good portiton. It was then that i decided to try a sit down meal. I had read reviews about slow service so warned the others I was with. However, there was no need really. Starters and main received in a timely manner. Was too stuffed for desert. Will be visiting again with the kids - they'll love the fried chicken (really fresh)
We had a 7.00pm booking but arrived at 7.25pm , we were told our table was given away and there was a 30 minute wait which was fair enough. We showed ourselves to the bar and ordered cocktails which took a very long time to prepare but were lovely all the same.
After the 30 minute wait our table was available, we ordered and the food came within twenty minutes. The food was absolutely delicious, we ordered a quarter jerk chicken and a Ochi platter.
My only criticism would be I didn't like the seats they were not very comfortable and the staff could be more engaged with their customers. One of the owners however was very pleasant and took time out to chat with us. Well done Dutchie I'll be back!
Went to The Dutchie on Tuesday 28th March, for a low key birthday meal with family and friends. I was treated to several cocktails; tasty and good value for money as they are 2 for 1 at all times. I recommend the "Bob Marley"; I can still feel the overproof rum running through my veins!
We shared a Negril platter. The portions were large and was really filling. Next time we'll order extra festiballs to mop up the juices... delicious!
If you want to try authentic caribbean cuisine in a relaxed environment, then I thoroughly recommend The Dutchie.
Booked a table for 8pm didn't get seated until after 8.30pm. We were given no menus. They never cleared our plates or glasses just left them to pile up on the table. Our main was served whilst we were eating our starter and had to wait over half an hour for drinks. The young waiter we had worked so hard and was rushed off his feet I felt sorry for him until I saw him sitting down with his friends whilst we waited half an hour for the drinks he forgot to order for us. Food was ok nothing special cocktails were the best part although they were watered down. Would I go again maybe in a year if it's still there once they have learnt how to run a restaurant. Turtle Bay down the road was packed and it has only been open a couple months.
Table was booked for 6pn we were not seated until 6.40 was not offer a drink or kept updated while we waited.
Once we were seat service was very good food was excellent, only thing that let them down they need mire staff.
Ok for get together cocktails are nice but didn't enjoy food.
Food was great and authentic. I would go back as it was a nice small hideaway food joint akin to a dive bar in New York. I hope the business grow but not at the cost of the service and taste.
The food was 100% compliment to the chef. Unfortunately the serive was very poor due to the demand on Valentines day. I believe they should have employed extra waiting staff for the special occassion and also they could have made a effort to decorate it a bit for the occassion. Will definately return.
