Lovely building, oodles of character and presented beautifully. The food was very delicious, only wished we lived closer so we can visit again!
Food is always good, service is always good, prices are always good. WhT more can you ask for from a local pub and restaurant?! Just a really good place to go for food and drink in a pleasant environment.
Good food and choice.Fish was a little over done for my taste .
Superb service superb food great staff and great location - well done the eight bells for a fantastic customer experience
Food was delicious and very big portions. Would recommend to anyone to try.
Staff were friendly and welcoming and very attentive
Excellent food and service. Nice evening all round.
Very tasty, as always. Good service, distancing in place.
My friend and I went for lunch. We both had fish and chips! Batter was lovely and crisp! Very well cooked. Delicious deserts. Thai rice pudding and chocolate mousse! Staff were very friendly and helpful! Will definitely go again!
Thoroughly enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Eight Bells. From welcome to goodbye the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or more helpful. Nothing was too much bother. The food is good quality and well cooked - amazing croutons in the caesar salad! Good value for money too so can really recommend The Eight Bells for lunch.
We had such a lovely meal at Eight Bells. Really love staff and delicious food. Thank you!
Imaginative menu, very pleasant service and well organised layout.
The staff were very friendly & courteous, food was excellent! Although a little pricey, especially the wine. But we enjoyed it very much
The butter nut squash risotto was delicious. The Caesar salad was excellent.
The service was first class,2 helpful waiters who were friendly and efficient.
First time visiting the eight bells Saffron Walden, my partner and I were not dissapointed. The venue was in an old building with a lot of original character The restaurant had a vaulted ceiling and gave a feeling of airiness. Tables were spaced enough apart from a covid perspective. The staff were welcoming and attentive. We had the rib eye steak and ceaser salad with sticky toffe pudding for desert. Great food, great drink and a lovely 1st anniversary celebration. Highly recommend this eating venue
Excellent food and service in a lovely environment
Great location. Great service. Great Food. COVID Secure.
Beautiful old building,
Friendly and helpful staff,
Good lunch menu
The service was hit and miss depending on who served.
They play an Australian commercial radio so you have to sit through endless ads which is really annoying.
The food was okay.
Won't rush back.
We had a delicious meal for two.
Staff very friendly and food delicious.
Great ambience despite social distancing. Thoroughly recommend
A tasty meal, friendly staff and a great ambience - what more do you need for a great meal out!
Medium rare steak was massively underdone.
We ordered Rose champagne. I think it was the worse I have ever tasted.
On thes two items it is fair to say I was very disappointed.
poor social distancing, not following their own rules
Food was hot and tasty, served well and in friendly way. Very pleased with the venue and would go again.
Very welcoming. It had great Covid measures, we felt very safe. We will definitely return
A lovely setting for a lovely meal with excellent service. The main course of sea bass was absolutely delicious and will be going back to have it again.
Good value for money, good service And welcomed the baby - would recommend and also return
Very nice. Lovely old pub with ridiculously kitsch decor.
Most of our meals were lovely but one of the ladies in our group had fish and the portion size was tiny. It was £18 so not great value at all. We were given a poor excuse about it being to do with the ‘eat out to help out’ and they weren’t particularly apologetic!
Great meal with the family only negative was that the children’s meals were quite small
A bit difficult to judge on this visit as the kitchen had no gas, rather limiting the menu! They did well under the circumstances.
We booked The Eight Bells for Sunday dinner after an afternoon at Audley End House nearby.
Stunning decor, delicious food (we loved the fact that the roast dinner came with so much fresh veg - perfectly cooked; plus the sticky toffee pudding was divine). Great value considering the quality of the food and the lovely atmosphere.
We had a lovely lunch. We felt safe and well looked after, and the food was lovely.
The food was amazing and staff incredible, cannot wait to come back again
The CV-19 precautions in the eight Bells were very reassuring and thorough whilst still maintaining perfect ambiance and service. The food, as always, was very well cooked and served. Highly recommended in all.
Lovely food and great service
Thanks Charlie and David
Very nice environment to spent time with family and friends
An excellent and tasty meal for two. Both the sea bass and pork belly were superb. Delicious pea, spinach and mint soup as well and friendly, prompt service.
Good choice of food, all delicious and very good service. Good value too.
Lovely building and good food
Delicious freshly cooked food, friendly and quick service, lovely pub. Incredible value on the Eat out to help out scheme. Children’s menu has tasty choices and good portion sizes
