Wonderful news Melanie! Thanks for sharing... It is so gratifying to still be picking daily from our organic greenhouse and serving up all that goodness. Glad you enjoyed your visit!

Amazing place to dine for a special occasion, or any brunch/lunch/night you feel like enjoying high quality food and impeccable service. We enjoyed Sunday brunch to celebrate my in-laws' 50th anniversary. We were there for almost 3 hours savoring every course and never once felt rushed. We loved the fresh pastries, local ingredients and had the best french toast I've ever tasted. The chicken and waffles had unique spices that were simply sublime, the quiche was excellent, my smothered hashbrowns were probably my favorite. And if you like mascarpone and pana cotta you MUST get the parfait for your dessert.
It was an exquisite meal from start to finish.
Always incredible food and truly outstanding service. Superior value on an extensive wine list.
Our new favorite restaurant but just a bit too far from home. Delicious food -- loved the French onion soup with a little sweetness added and the appetizer of cauliflower and mushrooms in delicate cheese sauce; the flounder was also delicious with brussel sprouts and squash on the side. Excellent wine choices with a courteous host who discussed the choices and offered samples. Finally settled on a Sancere that was tops. Will definitely go back next time we're in the area.
The service was painstakingly slow. Waitstaff was not available enough. Our glasses were often empty and the butter was served without the bread. As it turns out, we were there over 3 hours and were ready to leave after 2 hours. We felt the the volume of customers served exceeded the amount of help needed.
Although the food looked good, our meals were very undercooked (veal & lamb), the center of the meat was cold. We didn’t send it back because it would have taken a very long time to rectify. Sadly, the meal and dining experience was underwhelming.
We have been patrons in the past and love the soup and brunch. Just disappointed that our New Years Eve was very disappointing.
Excellent! My favorite restaurant!
Interesting building, good food but expensive.
We always love this place because of the beautiful ambiance and the food. It’s not fair to judge a restaurant on New Year’s Eve, because it’s busy, but we had a few issues. The waiter rudely brought us our check right after we started eating desserts. We didn’t ask for it. At the price point we were paying, this was surprising and not welcome. We felt like it was a clear hint he either wanted to leave or wanted us to leave. It was at 9:30. There was also a long 25 minute lull between the appetizers and the main course which seemed disjointed. I’m chalking it up to it being New Year’s Eve. Other than that, everything was wonderful. It’s a magical place.
Totally exceeded expectations. Farm to table there actually means back yard to table for almost all of the vegetables. Locally sourced meats both butchered and cured in house were outstanding. An expensive meal but totally worth it.
Excellent in every way Gorgeous home, outstanding food and an owner or representative always comes to make sure all is well. Expensive but not outrageous. Our waiter, Aaron, was superb
Fantastic food and exceptional service, a combination that cannot be beat!
Excellent food. So great to have this caliber of dining in Howard County. Right up there with the best of Georgetown and DC.
Chef Dan always prepares the best food and the staff are pleasant and attentive without hovering. Our server, Brian helped us with selecting our wine and made our dining experience all the better. Kudos for the gluten free menu with excellent choices available without sacrificing quality.
This is a special place to go when you want a special meal. Our waiter was very helpful in assisting us to pick the right wine, and in recommending dishes. My husband had the filet, which he said was perfectly prepared, and I had the mushroom risotto. Elkridge Furnace Inn always has great sides, and I was not disappointed with eggplant and braised greens. The room was warm and inviting, and we had a lovely evening before Christmas.
Wonderful Sunday brunch! Service and food and ambiance could not have been better and price very reasonable. Highly recommend!
We came because of the extensive gluten free brunch menu. The food was delicious and fresh. We will be coming back!
This is a copy of my Yelp review:
Found this gem on the web looking for a nice restaurant in Howard County to celebrate our anniversary. Made the reservations via opentable about a month out. I called the day before to alert the restaurant that it was an occasion. Finding the parking at night was a little challenging, but the restaurant itself is a beautiful rustic building the main part constructed in 1744. There is a LOT of history in this place! Ambiance was cozy and relaxed, semi formal with a fireplace and wood decor. It was comfortable having a glass of wine and chit-chatting without the "hurry up and order so we can turn your table" routine often projected by restaurants. The staff congratulated us on our anniversary upon arrival and offered complimentary champagne that was truly very nice. The menu is limited and creative featuring seasonal game (duck and rabbit) as well as common proteins (steak, pork, fish). I had a very tasty pumpkin chipotle soup followed by rabbit shank cacciatore with cheesy orzo and broccoli. My wife had crab cakes with potatoes, leeks and broccoli. For desert we both had creme brûlée and cappuccino. All was prepared wonderfully with great balanced flavor and a attractive presentation. There is literally nothing I can complain about from our experience. It was exactly what I wanted for a classy night out to make a memory in celebration of our anniversary.
Service was good but slow. Food was good but not great. The restaurant is quaint but drafty.
We do take our customer remarks seriously, Purple. Our seasonal menu will be changing on January 7 with lots of great new chef-inspired options using a lot of local sourcing as well as produce from our own greenhouse. With the historic building that houses the restaurant, complete with a lot of original glass, it does unfortunately get drafty some times. Of course, there are many seats next to fireplaces which certainly are a plus! Hope you'll try us again! Cheers and Happy Holidays!!
Everything about the Inn is lovely and well-appointed. The food is delicious and very plentiful. The wait staff is courteous and anticipates their clients' needs. The owner/chef is friendly and personally checks on each table. And the ambiance is charming and welcoming. I can't say enough good about it all.
We love this restaurant for special occasions in a quiet and intimate atmosphere. The food and service are always outstanding!
As always excellent food and service!
Excellent food and service as always. Safe for gluten allergy. Thanks again!
Excellent in all categories. A bit pricey. Great venue for a special occasion.
Great overall experience. Service from the moment we went through the door was top notice. The space was festive and a great choice for a small office dinner. The food was on point. I am still dreaming about buretta. Will definitely go back again. A real treasure.
The hour tour was interesting and full of history. We had brunch after and really enjoyed the food and the ambience was quiet.
Nice selection of cheese and charcuterie. Noise level was not bad at all. Staff was very polite.
The Elkridge Furnace Inn is a very welcoming place to dine! I've dined there many times over the years.
Glad you felt welcome and enjoyed the time. Our regular guests mean so much to us!
Our annual Thanksgiving dinner was phenomenal. The rockfish with spinach risotto and baby carrots was delicious. The Furnace Inn keeps getting better every year. Thank you to the chef and his wonderful staff.
Very nice Thanksgiving dinner. Not as hot as we would prefer but everything was well prepared and tasty!
Thanks so much for joining us for this treasured holiday! I'll pass your comments onto my staff as we debrief the holiday service. Cheers!
Food was excellent but my pecan tat for dessert was very overdone. So hard I could not use fork to eat it.
Oh, dear! So sorry to hear that the Thanksgiving Tart wasn't quite to your liking Catherine. Must say Chef and I shared one at the end of the day and enjoyed every bit. It was nice to have so many happy diners join us for the holiday. Thanks so much for sharing the time with us!
Outstanding service and great food! From the moment you step inside you are greeted and served. It was our anniversary and the provided us a complimentary glass of champagne.
Glad your time with us was worth the drive Manny! It is fun to discover new places and to try new things. Thanks for checking us out!
It had been several years since our last visit. We were pleased to see an updated menu. Everything we had was delightful, and the service was top notch.
Thanks for coming back to see us Deanna! We are delighted you enjoyed our updated menu...and a little redecorating as well. Cheers!
Outstanding yard to table food. Chef owned and run.
We do try to be authentic SatNight. Our Chef is so passionate about what we do. Cheers!
Great service. The steaks were tough. Definitely not worth the price. The specials were amazing
Thanks for the review sachicago. I'll pass on your concerns to the Kitchen Team. Our specials are always an adventure!
A wonderful placed to dine. The ambiance provided by the old country inn feel combined with the off the beaten track location set the stage for a wonderful meal.
Once the stage has been set, the menu equals or exceeds expectations. The Farm-to-Table menu tastes as good as it looks while still providing the inherent value of farm-to-table.
Service is attentive but not overpowering. The host and the chef came by to check on the food and the service.
What a thoughtful review Harv. We know there are many dining choices out there, but know we are unique with our history, our gardens and our chef-inspired seasonal cuisine. Thanks for the encouragement! Cheers
Excellent food in an excellent ambience. I will definitly go back.
We always are curious and love to see the categories chosen by our guests since we are a bit diverse. Thanks so much for your wonderful review and we will look forward to your next visit SelcukO!
What a find!
Very unique building and grounds.
Love the intimacy of the small dining rooms.
Highly recommended for meat lovers!
Crab cakes were outstanding.
Cool! So glad you found us sneezemd! Our mustard pan sauce accompaniment for our crab cakes is a unique backdrop as well. Thanks for your encouraging comments. Hope you'll join us again. New winter menu in January...
Our evening began with an extensive and reasonably priced wine list; we selected a Frog’s Leap Zin and a Duckhorn Sav Blanc. We started with a Delicious Grilled Fig appetizer special and wonderful ‘special request’ of Fois; Lovely beet salad followed. Mains were complemented with vegetables and minor substitutions were graciously accommodated. Rib eye 8oz was perfectly prepared and melt-in-the mouth tender. Corvina special was an unanticipated delight and Wild mushroom risotto was perfect; the scallops and shrimp were also enjoyed. A slight mistake with the pork sausage dish delivered instead of the requested pork shank was handled with impressive finesse. Chocolate mousse topped off an excellent evening. It was a joy to be welcomed in person by the chef; Jack and Hillary, our waiter/host were engaging and efficient; however, at times water glasses went empty well before the bus staff noticed—a small but important task which can be easily adjusted. The menu offered a number of unique options; all seasonally sourced. First visit will not be the last!!!
We so appreciate your thoughtful comprehensive review Joan and do take it all to heart. Every aspect of guest service from the time a guest arrives in our lot is of utmost importance. I'll pass on your kind remarks to Jake and Hillary. We love having our seasonal menu and specials so that there is always something new to try when you visit.
