The Evenlode at Eynsham
08:00 - 21:30
Table dirty, Staff awful, Food Rank. Toilets to far away.
Helpful friendly waitress. Tasty food that arrived in appropriate timings. Good portions. Large selection
We had a meal on a Monday evening and the restaurant was almost empty. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The service was good but I would expect that when it was that quiet. The food was good and plenty of it. The portion size was generous. The price was fair considering the size of the meal. The place has been recently refurbished and the decor is fresh and appropriate. There are some lovely outside seating areas if the weather is right. The beer is good too. I would be happy to go back again.
Good food, friendly staff, lovely decor, good parking worth a visit.
Booked last minute out for a meal for two my daughters pizza was gorgeous I had a burger and asked for it to be pink and it came rather over done crispy but I ate it as I was rather hungry this would not stop me going again nice clean place and lovely staff
Excellent food, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. My wife is a coeliac and the gluten free choice was fantastic.
This was in fact our second visit and we brought along another couple to experience the good food and service we received on our first visit.
We are looking forward to coming back very soon and have already shared our experience with many friends local to the evenlode who previously used and were disappointed with previous management.
Enjoyable Sunday Roast, lovely environment, service was good.
Lovely food and a nice place to be! Will definately be returning!
Very nice Sunday roast, great Yorkshire pudding! Enjoyed by all.
Food was good, seating not so great, but drink is exceptionally overpriced. Sad to say we won’t be back 😞
Meal with family as away for weekend staying in Eynsham
Nice setting and excellent inside decor lovely
Friendly staff and a good gin menu
Food a little disappointed with some of it - I had scallops £8.50 and only 2 scallops on plate (3 would have been better value )- had to get fresh one sent as they were really burnt - friendly staff when I requested a change
I then had the placid which is a light delicate fish and again the portion size of the fish was very small for the cost.... my sons girlfriend had the sea bream which was a much better portion. Overall there were elements which were great and others that were not so great
Think portion in ratio to price needs to be considered or more even portions ?
Again staff lovely - setting great it’s a lovely clean and well thought out restaurant (style & created ambience )
We’ve always had a positive experience at the evenlode. Some dishes seem slightly pricey for what they are and the service is AlWAYS slow in terms of bar, restaurant and food waiting times. The staff are consistently friendly though and the food and ambience good.
Very pleasant atmosphere. Staff very efficient and food very good
The starters were very nice indeed but the main courses all lacked the same attention. The fish although looking large actually had very little fish on it. The vegetables with the roast were very under cooked to be almost raw and there was no crackling with the pork. Having said that the place itself is very nice and the staff were excellent. If they up their attention to ensure the same standard to the mains as the starters this place would be a winner
Lack of staff for Saturday night meant food being bit slow coming out. Otherwise we had a lovely evening .
Great food and great service, what’s not to love!!
Nice atmosphere in the pub apart from a baby/young child crying & screaming the whole time we were there which seemed to annoy a few people, obviously not the restaurants fault but I think children under a certain age should not be accommodated after 6pm!The service & food was very good. The Evenlode has changed for the better!
Very pleasant evening spent with friends. Good, friendly service. Comprehensive menu to suit everyone and most enjoyable food.
Disappointing. Slow service, but pleasant waitress. One burger was burnt and had to go back, a pasta dish was tasteless and wasn’t finished. Didn’t stop for dessert.
Nice place to meet with family, as old eynsham people it was nice to go back to see what the evenlode was like as we had happy memories going there as children!
I booked this restaurant as I'd heard good things about it so I thought I'd try it for myself!
Upon arriving we were shown to our table, the waitress then disappeared and we were left for 15 minutes waiting for her to come back to get our drink order and give us a menu.
We waited another 15 minutes before anyone came back to get our order, 10 minutes later the waitress came back to say they'd run out of belly pork so we had to choose again! The starter arrived 15 minutes later, I had the balsamic and oil dip with bread...well the oil tasted like it was out of a chip fryer it was awful I couldn't eat it! I tipped the oil off of the balsamic into a bowl so I could at least have something! My husbands chicken wings were very nice.
Our plates were removed and we were left to sit waiting for 40 minutes when a waitress told us our food was on its way only to wait another 20 minutes! Once the food arrived all I can say about it was that it was average it was nothing special. Once again we sat with our finished plates in front of us for 15 minutes before they were removed by this time we just wanted to go because the service was so slow and we were sat right in the middle of a hen party. the bill was brought to us and yet again we were left for another 15 minutes waiting to pay whilst all the staff were at the bar chatting!
Overall I wasn't impressed by the food and the service was awful.
Amazing service Emma W, unfortunately the kitchen had run out of lots on the menu.
Needed somewhere local from Minster Lovell for dinner. Great menu choice. Brilliant service & food fantastic. Quietish but we dined late on a Monday evening however great decor & vibe.
The meal and the service were really quite excellent. Best Sunday lunch for a long time.
Returned after one poor, once off experience and found it to be very much improved. Very good meal and friendly efficient service. Good bar selection and specials board. Thoroughly recommend. Will book again.
food plenty of a good plate full enjoyed by all 4 of us
service was good as they were very busy
also very reasonable price
In the past I have always been impressed with the size of the portions. Unfortunately when I ordered the scampi the portion was extremely small and left me hungry. My wife ordered the pizza and it had been microwaved so much the crusts were very dry and rubbery.
Thia is not the standard I have experienced in the past, but will try obe more time to see if it improves?
I came along today with my daughter and friend for afternoon tea.
The sandwiches we were offered was ham, salmon and cucumber.
When I booked I advised you that one of us was vegetarian therefore asked what the alternatives was for sandwiches to be told there were no alternatives.
You will understand that due to this we opted for the Princess.
I’m the vegetarian and don’t eat fish and was certainly not prepared to pay an extra £5 for a cucumber sandwich.
To say we were disappointed with what came out is an understatement. It wasn’t even presented on a cake stand, just a slat.
There were 3 scones, 3 very small pieces of vegan lemon drizzle cake and 3 pieces of coffee and walnut cake. Due to a nut allergy I asked what the choice of alternative cakes was to be told there is none. It’s good to see you cater for vegan but supplying nuts you obviously haven’t thought of but allergy sufferers.
The scones were delicious so to make up for the cake we asked for 3 more scones. We didn’t even get more cream or ham!
We had 2 cups of tea and an orange juice. We then asked for refills of all of these.
So what should have cost £20 ended up costing me £32.
This was a treat for my friend who was celebrating her 60th birthday and I feel so upset with what should have been a lovely afternoon tea was a a real disappointment. I’ve had afternoon tea at many places and this has to be the worse I’ve seen. Gutted.
We went for the Sunday roast and it was amazing! Great food and very friendly staff.
This was our third visit & we felt disappointed. Price of steak gone up, burnt chips & couldn't have the chocolate brownie as told it was off the menu as others had complained!
It’s a large pub but all diners seemed to be cramed into two areas, causing eveyone to shout. Drinks was great. Food was very slow coming out and over cooked (if you like stake medium ask for rare and so on!) at no point did any one ask how everything is or if we needed anything. For a Friday night would expect a few more staff would of helped with all the issues!
Excellent lunch menu .Food was fantastic.Service was great.Thoroughly recommend the Evenlode.
Wonderful staff, lovely food, quick service, food could have been a bit warmer.
Very impressed after not visiting the Evenlode for a few years. New decopr is very pleasant.
It was nice enough but not great for the price. I wont be returning.
Firstly we were expected to sit very close to other diners but we asked to change table as the restaurant was not busy that was done. We then placed our order, I had beer battered fish and chips but I couldn't find much fish at all in the batter more natter than fish. Very disappointing meal.
I had a dinner on Easter evening, by 630pm the restaurant run out of pork and lamb....there was no evening menu still lunch menu I had to choose from.
Very poor selection.
Easter Sunday Lunch
Very Good all round experience and would visit again
Recommend for casual dining, lunches, family get-togethers & dates
Nice to see real homemade food being served, not just heated.
My area’s of improvement are personal preference so may not be applicable to all:
1. Too much fat served on the roast rib of beef
2. Vegetable choice - improve selection
3. Sticky toffee pudding - sponge was over cooked around edges and dry
The Evenlode was very nice food excellent, unfortunately the service was very slow
