The Farmhouse at Redcoats
Haven't been there since shortly after they were taken over by ACI. They certainly have a great chef, as the food was excellent although portions could have been a bit bigger and the prices could have been a bit smaller. Very attentive and friendly service. Certainly a good venue for foodies. Wine list not that impressive, though.
Disappointing start to our meal as the cauliflower soup was so thin that it lacked flavour. Main course lamb very good. Service friendly & attentive.
Food was wonderful, lovely atmosphere
Always great food and service when we come here. Perfect venue for dinner or a family function in one of their lovely rooms.
Excellent food and service, couldn’t fault anything.
We had a lovely evening. The food was delicious and the service outstanding.
Went there for my birthday lunch and opted for the 3 course meal with my family. Our food order was taken before the drinks order as the waitress stated that she wished to get the order in; she then promptly returned to take our drinks order. Although we ordered our starters as soon as we had arrived, we had to wait a considerable length of time before the starters arrived and guests who had arrived after us got their food before us! The waitress apologised saying the starters were on their way after nearly 45 minutes. However, when it arrived, the food was excellent. Due to the initial delay, our main course arrived barely 10 minutes after we had eaten the starters, so we felt rushed and could not really enjoy the main course properly as there was too short a gap. We requested that we required some time before desserts which were outstanding. Overall, the food is exquisite and we did enjoy our meal.
Amazing restaurant with fantastic quality food and drink. Visited for a wedding anniversary meal and could not fault the service or food.
My only slight critism would be that there were a few too many fish based dishes on the menu but we knew that before we booked.
The Rump Steak was heavenly. I would definitely recommend this venue.
Good as normal? Roast potatoes, wow ?? Lamb shoulder braised correctly, but reheat was terrible, over cooked on top side and ok on under side which ment half a portion was unsatisfactory, desserts very highly skilled chef ? Starter terrine? Dry ,texture ? Flavour bland ???
The ambience is really great and the dishes are different. Give it a try for a special occasion!
Fantastic food and service as always - the Farmhouse never disappoints!
Perfect birthday lunch in the garden - bright sunshine (always an added bonus, shade if required) and marvellous food. Starters, mains and puds were all of uniformly excellent quality and much appreciated.
Absolutely fabulous place!
Nice venue and setting. Food was of good quality and choice was excellent. Service was excellent and overall I would recommend
Just a perfect place to chill without any huddle and bustle of the busy city life
We wanted to try the restaurant as it is fairly local to us, and is a reasonably new opening.
Also, we wanted to find a venue for a family celebration coming up in October.
The lunch was quite good, although the lamb dish was over cooked and rather ‘crunchy’ on one side ( had been seared off).
When we enquired regarding an October booking for a party of 12, there seemed to be limited options to accommodate us.
Continued in next section.....
Excellent but too busy at the end but would recommend
Excellent food excellent service. Could not have been better. Brilliant
Amazing dinner in the old kitchen private dining room for the six of us. We had crab fritters and terrine to start then a selection of roast dinners - beef was the winner :) lovely room and very welcoming to our 15 month old.
It was as always perfect no more to be said, have taken several friends and family there and everybody says the same
Thoroughly enjoyable school reunion meal - Excellent food and service would highly recommend your Restaurant
Beautiful surroundings and first class food.
We enjoyed our Sunday lunch although, in fairness, the starters and sweets were more impressive than the main course. The room we were in was rather cold.
Very nice atmosphere and surroundings, food was good a little on the pricey side.
Wine wasn't chilled, broccoli was sitting in water had to drain on fork with almonds. Not pleasant meal, disappointing!
Tremendous Sunday during a bank holiday weekend spent in the garden behind the restaurant. Whiled away 5 hours in the lovely heat, eating three lovely courses and having a few drinks. Lovely food and staff. Service could have been a bit quicker but was excellent when they did get there and anyway this is a place to savour, not to rush!
Very pleasant experience good food and good service in a rural location
Fantastic place lovely ambiance shame the food did lack any real panache, safe and a bit boring, dare I say bland
We had a fantastic meal, the staff were great. Looking forward to coming back soon.
Redcoats has always been a favourite of ours since our wedding there 10 years ago. It's changed hands since so thought we would try it for our big anniversary having heard good reviews. Well we were not disappointed the food was amazing bursting with flavours. The staff were all amazing and answered all our questions with confidence and expertise. Finally when our taxi failed to show the manager, Graham, gave us a lift home. Can't wait to go back and would definitely recommend Redcoats.
Took my boyfriend for his birthday and he absolutely loved it the food was amazing a truly delightful dining experience
A lovely place to meet the family, beautiful gardens and attentive staff. Pleasant experience.
A very cosy and romantic restaurant with amazing food and very welcoming staff! To me the best restaurant around!
Fabulous meal slightly let down by the waitress not knowing how to pour the wine!
We had a lovely meal there on Saturday, celebrating a 50th Wedding Anniversary. Everything was as we had hoped for. Pre dinner drinks in a very comfortable lounge and plenty of space between the tables despite the restaurant being full - always a good sign. Would have no hesitation in recommending the Farmhouse for that special occasion.
Service a little slow, some ordered drinks never arrived, had to ask for the bill three times? Food was quite slow to arrive 40 minutes between starter and main course.
Really lovely food. Only let down was the fact they had no bread for my gluten free friend. Service for drinks could have been better as we had to ask them. However the outstanding quality of the food made the evening
We went to the Farmhouse at Redcoats to celebrate a family birthday. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented with the exception of my main course lamb which was extremely fatty. On mentioning this to our waitress she said she would inform the chef; a small adjustment on the bill would have been a nice gesture!
The menu choices were good and for 3 of us the food was delicious. One person in our party had a steak and wished he had chosen something else as he said it wasn’t great. One of our friends thought the service could have been better. I personally was very happy with it so it’s personal taste. Overall it was a great evening
Setting and service was lovely. Starters were wonderful and my fellow diners loved their mains. Also a nice touch that the Birthday girl received a little complimentary dessert.
