A 17th Century former smugglers haunt-- this is a pretty little pub in a lovely marshland setting with tables and benches on the front terrace and in the back alongside the riverbank.
Inside it's very easygoing and chatty. The main bar has hop-draped painted beams, a green dado, and stools against the bar where they serve a beer called Oxney Ale specially brewed for the pub by Westerham Brewery.
To the right is a cosy eating area with wheelback chairs-- ideal for a banquette with friends around a few long tables.
Always had a fantastic meal here, good prices for the quality, I would have prefer it to be open

First time we have tried an evening visit. Loved the menu options, food presentation and quality. Great personable and attentive staff. Will be returning as soon as circumstances allow.
One of our favourites for years now. Staff are always so lovely and the ambience is perfect. We always go for their signature burger, it’s delicious!

It's a great pub in beautiful surrounding producing quality food. I'd say it's punching significantly above expectation. As well as huge Sunday lunch the a la carte items were complex, very well cooked and unusual

Unfortunately there was a pub dog which was allowed to wander freely (including under our table!) She seemed lovely but unfortunately my daughter is very scared of them and so we had to eat up quickly and leave.
After a long windy walk the Ferry was indeed a welcome sight. Beer was good, food was only average and a little over priced. Service dropped towards the end. Wear and tear has taken its toll on the pub too.
Not particularly busy.
I would happy pay more for better food and surroundings and support local business during this horrible time. But I'll need to give this pub a bit more time before I go back.

In a quiet rural location. Unexpected varied and exciting menu choices. Dog friendly. Cosy on inside, nice outdoor space for alfresco eating in nice weather. Parking across country lane.
I had the Halloumi Burger - so tasty, great presentation and no holding back on the halloumi and chipotle sauce ☺️
My lunch (party of three) 19th October at The Ferry was my first social outing since before the March lockdown so I was feeling quite apprehensive, but I needn't have worried as the pub's Covid precautions were extremely good in minimising the risk of infection and were observed by staff and fellow diners alike. I felt comfortable and relaxed, enjoyed my excellent lunch with good service and it was wonderful to actually feel 'normal' again after so long. I would definitely recommend The Ferry and hope to pay another visit very soon.
Lovely welcome, seated early, friendly service, great food - try the scallops! Or if you like kidneys (I don’t, partner does) apparently they are amazing!! A fab Sunday roast for our meat eaters and a really great vegetarian version too. All in all a memorable family lunch for all the right reasons.

I really like the atmosphere in this pub. Service was great and the staff wore masks. The food was of good quality and quantity and good value. This is definitely one of my preferred pubs in the area.

We were visiting nearby and was recommended to eat here by our hosts. The steak was cooked perfectly and the chips were lovely. The deserts were amazing too. Couldn't fault the meal.

Very good Sunday roast and local beers if a little on the expensive side. Fabulous puddings. Staff managed the delicate balance of being attentive without repeatedly asking if everything is alright. Also tipping is genuinely optional rather than being automatically added to the bill.

We met up with family for Sunday lunch. The food was good and the staff were attentive, in this this very cosy pub. Staff wore mask, and everyone was expected to wear a mask, while walking around the pub.
Sunday lunch. We shared a Camembert but we’re disappointed to find white supposedly artisan bread. The local lamb was good, cod chips and peas also good as usual. Our picky half veggie friend had roast veg and plaice fillets, which looked lovely but he loved the red onion marmalade relish which we had with the Camembert, so had a pot to go with his main! Good atmosphere in spite of Covid restrictions!
We had the perfect late lunch here at Ferry Inn with mother in law over from Dublin. Easy ordering. Delicious food. Charming staff.
If you are lucky enough to come across it just book it!

Unfriendly lady at the bar, didn't smile and it seemed like we were an inconvenience. We had a roast dinner, the meat was very nice but the vegetables were like school dinners - hard roast potatoes, sloppy cabbage. Not worth £18! We were expecting a higher standard than we got.
The young lad who waited on us was polite and provided good service.
Menu was limited and my"Dungeness Battered Cod" seemed as if it had been microwaved. The fish was ok but the batter was leathery. Ferry burger was good.
I had scallops to start as I always do there: they were excellent, as usual, then ordered the special which was lemon sole, although that became plaice by the time it was served. It was clearly ultra fresh, and very tasty. It would be hard to beat the setting, sitting in the front garden on a sunny day.
As always the Ferry at Stone in Oxney did not disappoint. Beautiful setting, friendly & efficient staff. Charcuterie board to share followed by an enormous cod & beef dripping cooked chips & a superb chicken kebab skewer left us in a food coma! Only rescued by the Harvey’s bitter & an excellent Sauvignon blanc... till next time 😊

We were surprised that none of the serving staff were not wearing masks and that at one point, the bar was very crowded, which in other pubs we have been to this is strictly monitored. No apparent control of social distancing.
Rather alarming and surprising, especially as there is a resurgence of the virus. However, our lunch was good and service was prompt.
