The Ferry Inn
A 17th Century former smugglers haunt-- this is a pretty little pub in a lovely marshland setting with tables and benches on the front terrace and in the back alongside the riverbank.
Inside it's very easygoing and chatty. The main bar has hop-draped painted beams, a green dado, and stools against the bar where they serve a beer called Oxney Ale specially brewed for the pub by Westerham Brewery.
To the right is a cosy eating area with wheelback chairs-- ideal for a banquette with friends around a few long tables.
Beautiful setting, lovely staff and food was delicious :)
Beautiful setting, great food, particularly the scallops and friendly, efficient service.
Amazing food, service ! 100 percent worth a visit !
I am unable to fault the meal for the 3 of us. I had the mussels, delicious, and possibly the size of the spoon for the tasty sauce could have been bigger. I did ask for one bigger than the small soup spoon, and the only alternative was a dessert spoon , different shape, same size. We were sitting outside in the front, and it is not the fault of the management that there is traffic on the road. We prefer the front to the back garden, which is a little soulless, lacking atmosphere. I suggest that the management should consider asking a professional designer for advice on how to make it more appealing. However, it may be that the home team likes to fill the front first, and, anyway, the fare is so good compared with the competition I know that I would accept it anywhere!
This is a delightful pub in the middle of nowhere with delicious food. The staff are very friendly and chatty, and nothing was a bother to them. It was pretty busy, so you need to book, but it is well worth going. We all chose different options for our 3 courses, and noone was disappointed. The quality of the meat and fish was excellent, and every dish tasted great. We would go back again when next in the area.
We all had steak and nobody was disappointed. Well cooked meat, great chips and delicious mushroom plus some asparagus. The landlord suggested a Portuguese pinot noir which was a good recommendation.
5 happy diners.
Excellent early evening, the scallops delightful, the rib eye steak was magnificent. Best steak I’ve had (since having same three weeks ago!) Hi five to all at The Ferry.
Two of us had the Sea bass filllet (Fish of the day), it was delicious. The landlord was mixing with the guests, which was nice and the staff were very attentive. The sun was shining and we watched a beautiful sunset, a perfect evening after a day at work.
Lovely to eat outside in front of the pub; great food snd beers, evening sun, views and atmosphere
Really had a good lunch in the back garden, service was first class and food was awesome
Excellent food and service.
Plenty of food on the plate, good value for money.
Had a wonderful meal, service was excellent & the food was fantastic, been many times & always enjoy our meal, weather was lovely so sat outside. Had a lovely day out.
A perfect way to spend a sunny lunchtime. Thank you. :)
Great rural location, good food. Two different areas for sitting outside
Very impressed by food (a Saturday lunchtime we ate a haloumi burger & steak sandwich). Service efficient & friendly. Great position and ambience.
The food was delicious - we had scallops and a prawn cocktail for starters followed by espadata - an excellent brochette of chicken, king prawns, sausages and vegetables - my wife had mussels. We will definitely return - there's so much more on the menu we'd like to try!
A lovely dining experience - good food, excellent service and wonderful views.
A warm welcome and excellent on all counts. A pleasure to visit every time.
The Ferry is a proper pub with good food and atmosphere, not the cheapest, but good quality.
Lovely country pub feel with open fire and very welcoming hosts. Would certainly recommend.
Absolutely fantastic find. Scallops were amazing. Some good vegan/veggie options, delicious fish, steak pies and steaks. Portions very generous.
Food was perfect thank you and very nice to be able to get back to some sort of new normality again and appreciate a very nice pub meal. We will return.
Only comment is that there were quite a lot of tables full and NO open windows!
Dining room was well prepared for covid restrictions and comfortably heated. Service was polite, unobtrusive and efficient. Menu showed fair variety, dishes were interesting and showed ingenuity, were nicely presented and delicious. Only slight criticism was the lack of soft furnishings in the dining area made for a noisy atmosphere. Poppy was cute though!
Excellent food and service, although not far from London feels properly like a country pub but food quality is as in a London gastropub. Prices similar too but it's worth it.
We enjoyed the food very much and the service was very friendly and welcoming pub looked lovely in its surroundings would very much like to go back and have another meal there on a nice sunny day
Been coming to this lovely pub for over 40 years. Best it's ever been with amazing food and good drink choices. Good car park too.
We were very lucky with the weather and were glad to see other brits brave the unsettled forecast for a delicious pub lunch! Luckily the weather held off and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch out with friends.
Lovely place to visit, food always excellent
Great pub with good outdoor seating. Delicious food and attentive staff
More a restaurant menu than a pub menu, but in a lovely old pub setting with big rough tables. Plenty of space around us (outdoor eating only at that stage) and friendly, efficient service.
Perfect Sunday afternoon in the sunshine. Beautiful food and wine. Great service.
Very pleasant setting outside, friendly staff and good food.
Fantastic pub with incredible food. 10/10
A delightful restaurant with excellent food, service and ambience.
Beautiful pub with excellent food and service, staff all very friendly and welcoming.
Great selection of roasts and other dishes too. Food delicious and plentiful. Will be making it a regular stop.
We felt like every other table was served quicker than us, to the point we felt invisible. Even when we asked staff to put up an umbrella, they came out to do it and did every other table before ours. This was the same for taking orders.
Food was amazing, large portion and excellent quality. Does get chilly as only outside seating so rake a hot water bottle, they fill them for free.
Excellent, as usual.
Lovely fish and chips and good ale.
