The Fire Station Cheltenham
Attentive. Professional. Friendly. Duck that cut like butter.
Wonderful dinner at the Fire Station.
Relaxed atmosphere , outstanding cuisine and service in historic building .
We had a lovely Mother’s Day brunch/lunch here today, would definitely recommend
A v good meal with great service. Would Recommend!
Alll very good overall, but no coffee available !
Fire station was lovely staff very helpful! Not a great choice on the menu, Fantastic cocktail menus
Booked a table for a set time online as the system said it was available. 3 - 4 hours later, I received a phone call to say my table was no long available but they could fit me in 2 hours after the time they had previously confirmed to me. If their food is like their admin then I probably dodged a bullet!
Finding myself in Cheltenham for my birthday, the only place I wanted to have dinner was The Fire Station.
As always, the food was delicious and well prepared. The Crispy Duck salad is a favorite. The lamb is thick, juicy and cooked to perfection.
Nice meal out - it was really quiet when we arrived but got busier later. Food and service were good.
Food was good but the menu is limited and it was a the top end in terms of price.
We booked this as had passed it many times and thought it would be nice for a change. The menu is quite limited, although the snacks and starters were appetising. My wife had problems selecting something from the main course and we commented that we would rather have a couple of starters than the main courses.
Eventually, we chose all of the snacks ( the squid rings were not available) and main courses. My pork belly was excellent and very tasty, but the burgers were fairly standard. All in all a satisfactory meal, but with the competition there is in Cheltenham, this level of cuisine is probably slightly overpriced considering what you can get elsewhere.
I got the impression it was more of a bar with some food than a dining establishment as when we arrived, we seemed to be the only ones eating and everyone else was out for a drink.
Interesting building, unusual, but I woudln't say we would rush back for the food, although would pop in for a drink or two.
Service was incredibly slow and when the food eventually arrived it wasn’t great. Will just stick to drinks next time
Most enjoyable meal with excellent service. Highly recommended.
Initially a bit noisy because of a hen party. Staff were very friendly. My older friends found the food a little modern but you managed to convert them by the time we got to desserts! Amazing setting in a fire station.
I have been here several times and the service & food are hit or miss. Most recently we watched a World Cup on a Sunday and it was a good time; a bit nicer than your usual match venue. On sunny days, they open the large windows in the bar and bring the great weather inside.
Gluten free bread is now available (I’d been previously & servers were not helpful at with my gluten allergy)
Lovely venue for a lunchtime get together with friends. Great service with very friendly and helpful staff. It's a vibrant restaurant so quite noisy, but still easy enough to chat. Food came quickly and was well presented. Saturday lunchtime "bottomless brunch" is a great idea if you have all afternoon to enjoy the prosecco and champagne cocktails.
Prices are reasonable too - good value for money.
Been several times and usually a great meal.
Last night was a bit car crash as they were massively understaffed. Dishes arrived late or out of order and three of us had well done steaks when we asked for medium rare. One guy basically covering the whole floor who did a brilliant job but can’t be expected to perform miracles
Will go back as I know it’s normally not like this but they need to avoid this happening again.
Restaurant didn't have our booking. We were invited to have some drinks in the bar whilst we waited for them to sort out a table for us. They took our drinks order and then after waiting 20 minutes the drinks never arrived and we were told they did not have any tables available other than stools next to the main entrance and open kitchen which would have been fine to have drinks at but not suitable for a meal.
During race week in Cheltenham its always difficult to find a restaurant that can maintain high levels of service and food, the Fire Station did both easily a great venue, well worth a visit.
went for a Mothers day lunch - on my own to remember Mum who died last year. Mum would have been proud of our Brunch and the Bloody marys were bloody excellent, thank you
Jazz music too loud. Waitress charming but food service unbearably slow. No ambience. Brunch was perfectly ok but overpriced. Disappointing overall.
Great seat by the window! Very helpful waitress. Good value and good food - fishcake was delicious!
We arrived at the restaurant only to find that they did not have our booking despite being sent an email the day before from Open Table confirming my booking. Luckily they were able to accommodate us anyway but I will not be using Open Table ever again.
First time visit on a very busy Saturday just before Christmas. Table was about 30 mins late but only to be expected at this time of years. Staff were very apologetic and we were given a round of drinks on the house, so worth the 30 mins wait in the bar! The service at the table was very good, especially considering how busy it was, with friendly, helpfully staff. The food was well presented, well prepared and very tasty. Very good casual place to meet friends and have some excellent food. One word of warning that it gets very busy and on a Saturday they have live music which can make for a noisy meal!
the food, service and ambiance were good but I thought the menu was a little restrictive, especially as one of the main items (sirloin steak which I wanted) was not available
The service was poor as the girl was new and appeared not to have been trained. When we ordered steaks she didn’t ask how we wanted them cooked. The steaks were stringy, she asked how our food was before we’d even had a chance to take a bite. Then noone asked again. It wasn’t cheap and wasn’t good. The starter of parsnip soup was tasty but the rest was really poor. They add 12.5% service regardless of how they’re service was.
Really lovely evening out, the staff took particularly good care of us and our 6 year old. Special thanks to the chef who indulged said 6 year old with just the right amount of ice-cream sprinkles. Food was also very good, the lamb chop and roast butternut squash perfectly executed.
Had a very nice evening, the food was great. The cocktails were fabulous ! Nice ambiance too.
Lovely food - generous portions. Lovely attentive staff. Lovely decor. Had a lovely casual lunch with friends. Toilets spotless.
Shame it's a bit out of the way, but once you find it the food is excellent - one of the best Sunday roasts I've had in a long time.
My wife and friend wanted somewhere central that provided something different.
Perfect they said, especially as it was one of the girls birthday!
Fantastic staff who really knew the menu & described it very well .
Food was good but your menu tries to be too fancy the food is actually quite straight forward however the menu almost needs to be interpreted as many items are not everyday and needs explanation. Don't get me wrong I like trying different food, but most of the different items were actually sauces or a minor part of the meal. The waiter ( not the waitress) was quite rude on 2 occasions once interrupting my wife's conversation without waiting a second- he did apologise, but then proceeded to be rude about the fact you do not offer either semi skimmed milk or skimmed milk - hello hello which planet are you on? After saying he had never been asked for that! The rest of world starting consuming skimmed and semi skimmed about 10 years ago! Oh and no surprise for my Birthday . I did say for you to Surprise me it could have been a candle in my burger I would not have minded. So overall not a great experience.
As a local Cheltenham couple enjoying weekend date nights, we love trying new places. This was our first time in The Fire Station and it was fantastic. The food was enjoyable but the cocktails were the main attraction - we were looked after all night by Sophia. She was willing to make mix up personal favourites as well as promote the house recipes, and every single one was presented in outstanding style!
The addition of live music from Dan, Marcus and Olly really capped the night off - can't recommend this place enough, for a group or a couple looking for a great, relaxed night out that feels like a treat, book The Fire Station now!
Excellent food, service and ambience. We lucked out as there just happened to be live music - not for everyone but we thoroughly enjoyed it and it made our evening. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Arrived in time for 2 for 1 cocktails and then we ate a fantastic meal.
Peppers for starters along with croquettes followed by guinea fowl and the slow braised short rib.
Great atmosphere and excellent service which fully justified the service charge.
Definitely going again
Took my husband for a birthday meal, nice table for 2, service as excellent.
The food is absolutely amazing, very generous portions. The staff were very helpful and friendly, made us feel very comfortable. I will definitely be returning!
Very good food and excellent service. Highly recommended
Just lunch on this first visit and duly impressed with surroundings food and service. Will return one day for evening drinks.
