The Fish & The Chip Ratings and Reviews
Great first visit the staff were fantastic with my young nephews and the whirlwind of chaos that follows them around, a great addition to the city and the food was delicious I had the special of the day which was a beautiful fish covered in spiced breadcrumbs. Would have liked a few more chips but then that's just me being picky.
Thoroughly recommended and will be certainly recommending them to all who will listen !.
We wanted a different lunch to the norm an we certainly got it. With an excellent lunchtime deal for three courses, we treated ourselves to a feast. Starters of an asian salad with tofu and an oxcheek dish provided very different experiences but both were superb. This was followed by a mutton dish and a Thai chicken dish. Again both wye delightful. We could have eaten the whole dessert menu but settled on a sweet beetroot dish and a roasted pineapple dish. Fantastic. Not a sour note anywhere. Highly recommended!
We were ther to celebrate my husband's birthday, the place we were seating was very nice and well decorated, but the music to loud and not the type of music you chose to have dinner, it was more for after-drinks. The service was good. We were there for recommendation of vegan/vegetarian options. We were amazed with the starters fine cuisine, very tasty and elaborated. It was not the same with the mains. It was a really big difference with the starters. The mains was just fine, not very different of the type of cooking you can find in any restaurant, so we find them overprice. Shame that Mayango doesn't take care so well about the mains as the starters are.
Our visit to Maiyango was a really special occasion - a friend's surprise 50th birthday party - so we wanted everything to be perfect. It was!
The booking and advice were spot-on and we all went for the 7 course vegetarian taster (since it was a surprise our guest didn't get any choice!).
Fab cocktail to start with: the comfy little bar area is really nice and a great start to the evening. We were put in a booth, which was a nice touch as there were a couple of big groups in.
Our server was continually helpful throughout the evening and introduced each dish and wine with knowledge and real enthusiasm.
We started with watermelon and goats cheese which was a fantastic start to the meal. So tasty, the watermelon was pressed and full of flavour with the goat's cheese adding real contrast.
Now things get a bit blurred - there was some tempora battered tofu with soy sauce; a cannelloni thing and a little truffle rissotto number. These were all amazing - the flavours and textures contrasted perfectly and each course was an event on its own.
I would recommend going for the wine taster, the wines are cleverly matched to each dish and do make a perfect accompaniment.
For pudding there was a pineapple with a sorbet and a sweet almondy thing. I'm not sure I know what it actually was but it was fab.
Have we got to 7 courses yet? I can't think of anything else but if I've missed it then sorry, but it was lovely.
We finished with coffee and some small chocolate things.
It was a great evening and a fab way to celebrate a 50th birthday.
Yet again my partner and I returned for another luncheon date and we were not disappointed. The food was truely excellent and even a slight issue with some sediment in a freshly opened bottle of red was swiftly and courteously dealt with. Overall very happy with the whole occasion.
The food and service were both excellent and the prices were very reasonable. The menu options were diverse with something to suit most dietary inclinations - they were all imaginative and attractive. The restaurant design was imaginative and a substantial number of diners were accommodated without it feeling busy. The staff were friendly and well informed- the attention to detail was noticeable. We will definitely return.
Attended Miayango for my wedding anniversary. My partner and I were asked if we would like to move into a private booth. This touch was fantastic. We chose the 3 course summer menu. All of the courses we chose were beautiful as were the cocktails. Service was friendly and very efficient. Would highly recommend.
The food was excellent and a flavor sensation!
Me and my wife recently went there and had a lovely time. The atmosphere was very laid back, the service was good and the food was excellent.
We understand there has been a new Chef in the last 12 months and they certainly exceeded our already high expectations of this place with an interesting and diverse menu.
We will definitely be back
