Wasn’t expecting to much having looked a previous reviews. However we had a lovely meal everything we had was delicious and we’ll presented, the service was good and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Service was a bit slow but that was to be expected as the bar and restaurant were both very busy and there was a new waitress being trained so no complaints, it actually gave us time to talk between courses. Overall a great night we will be returning soon.
The food was terrible, and so was the service. Beer was ok though
The food used to be very good but seems pretty ordinary these days. My chips were soggy and tasteless. My husband’s fried chicken was not fried, but the stuffing was tasty. Too bad there was only a teaspoon of it. Insufficient staff meant we had to keep asking for the bill and finally had to go to the bar to pay. And it used to be so good! There was also no record of our booking a table.
A bit disappointed this time with the small beef fillet salad. It was mainly onion!!! Other meals were up to usual standard
Food is excellent, lively, good vibe. Service was a bit lapse, but still good. A good all round place to go out locally, better than the pubs in the area. Good place with a mix of people, well behaved and everyone enjoying themselves, staff are friendly too.
Great Sunday roast.
Excellent as always - never fails to please - thank you.
Charlotte was an amazing host. A credit to this establishment. Perfect service, good food and beautiful weather.
We booked for midday and were the only people in the restaurant. We were given the wrong menus to start with. The first bottle of wine we ordered they didn’t have so we chose another bottle which we had to wait 20 minutes for as the manager was trying to locate it in the cellar. The starters were fine. There were 3 of us and 2 of the mains were brought out while one was still eating his starter and all the used starter plates were on the table. I had to instruct the waiter to put the plates down on the next table while he removed our starter plates so he could then give us our mains. We were asked, after we finished our main course if we wanted to see the desert menu. We declined but ordered a glass of wine, a coffee and a cocktail. After 25 minutes wait we cancelled the drinks order as we had a train to catch. The last time we went there, about a year ago the service and lack of wine (they didn’t have 2 different bottles listed on their wine menu) was just as bad. I would not go there to eat again.
I booked on OpenTable for a Friday evening. When I showed up, my booking wasn't there because "open table has to call the Fishery Inn to make your booking - it doesn't work online" So we didn't get to eat in the dining room. Fortunately, a patron overheard the issue at a table near the dining room and offered us their table because they had a booking. So we were able to eat - without service. The food was good, as usual, but the experience was not.
We have eaten at the fisheries on many occasions and it has never let us down been an excellent experience every time.
When I booked I specifically stated I needed a table suitable for a severely disabled lady on sticks. When we arrived we were given a table down steps which were difficult to negotiate. It was obvious this was going to be a problem, but was told there was nothing else. As we frequently take these elderly people out for lunch, we will not be returning here.
Late home and didn't want to cook, so we booked from the train (via OpenTable of course!). Excellent food and good service - we will plan a return.
It is almost always good returning to the Fishery Inn - sometimes it has been very busy at lunchtime and quite noisy for a business lunch - and the food is always very good.
The restaurant was great. The problem was Open Table had not sent our booking through so no reservation. Luckily whilst full the staff found us a corner table so we could eat.
