What a treat this was. Every morsel was imaginative and fascinating. I’d be hard pressed to pick my favourite course but it’s maybe the aubergine starter. Totally amazing! There were splendid amuse bouche tasters along the way too. One often sees fine dining as a form of theatre but these dishes were art too. Quite beautiful.
A clever menu which gives you the main flavour of the dish but leaves a surprise because you don’t know how the dish is going to be constructed.
The staff were approachable, wonderfully helpful and charming. No fake snobbery here. Professional service, showing how it can be done. Smooth, unfussy and faultless. My soufflé was held up and the staff were very apologetic for the delay. Furthermore we were presented with an extra sweet from the taster menu. I’m still thinking about the bright green granita. I couldn’t work out the amazing flavour. It was tarragon, a little basil and lemon juice. We had already enjoyed a sweet little orange amuse bouche so three deserts! I couldn’t bear to leave any and I don’t usually have a dessert.
Great wine by the glass at reasonable cost. Some very fancy wines available too. My only complaint would be bottles of water at over £4 a bottle. Ok, we should have asked for tap!
It is difficult to get a booking but keep trying. It’s worth it.
Best meal I have had in London. Beautiful, tasty food.
Started off very well, with excellent service, and uninterrupted supply of items from the tasting menu.
But suddenly stopped after about 6 courses when there was almost one hour delay - with explanation or apology.
Also, there was no supply of fresh air in the restaurant - so it became very stuffy after about 90 minutes.
Wonderful start but poor finish.
This was our second visit and it was just as good the second time around with lots of new dishes to try. The food speaks for itself but the staff are wonderful too, they work very hard to make it a very special experience for everyone.
Looking forwards to going back! Many thanks!! The service, ambiance and locally sourced food and talent behind the menu was lovely.
Each to their own, but I found this to be one of the most boring meals of its type I've ever eaten.
Had the tasting option, and every course was, naturally, beautifully prepared and presented.
However not a single course was memorable. Probably good for impressing business colleagues you don't care that much about. Service was efficient (although oddly, it took some time for the first course to appear), although almost too many staff, doing too many things. Chairs and table are low and uncomfortable.
There was absolutely nothing really wrong at all (and the wine was very good), it was just a deeply predictable, forgettable meal.
A really exceptional experience at The Five Fields. Except for one small error which was swiftly and gratuitously corrected, the food and service were immaculate, delicious and perfect in every aspect. I am certain we will be returning soon.
Excellent food, excellent service and great company so all in all a great night out!
Outstanding, simple as that.
Actually any occasion! Fabulous food and will return!
Excellent meal and service from the staff. Special mention to the sommelier who was very attentive and knowledgeable about the wine.
Excellent service to the very details. Many surprising small treats.
good and comfortable
A high-level presentation, service and taste meal we haven't had since the mid-90s in NYC and Chicago. Most impressed with the incredible amuses bouches and the vegetable and floral accompaniments that made each dish look like a beautiful work of art. Worth the reasonable fixed price and the pleasant hours it took to float through the entire experience. All capped off with a complimentary bag of delicious canelés!
One of the most outstanding dining experiences in London at the moment with food as art as well as food and brilliant (perfect) staff and service. The Five Fields is a place not to be missed out on for a wonderful occasion.
The Five Fields is an exceptional restaurant!
One thing I wish to point out is the absolutely perfect matching of meals with reccommended wines.
Believe to your sommelier! :-)
Over all a wonderful experience. Service levels exceptional and personable staff. The offerings on the menu for that day made for a hard choice. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I can hardly wait to visit The Five Fields the next time I am in London.
I want to keep this short and clear... greatest dining experience ever!
The warmth of the greeting at Five Fields sets the tone for the service to come - thoroughly professional but warm, friendly and with a good sense of humour. The food is truly exceptional - do consider the "Prix Fixe" menu, not just the tasting menu as the "larger canvas" of the Prix Fixe dishes allows the presentational skill of the kitchen to show at its very best. A perfect combination of the two styles can be had by choosing one of the multi-element starters - such as "Sea and Earth". The wine list has a great representation of regions and styles - but for a simple (yet enjoyable) life I would recommend asking the sommelier for some accompanying wines by the glass to go with your meal - the selection is always excellent and really enhances each course.
It's the best from start to finish. Amazing food and even better service. The Sommelier is extremely helpful and friendly.
Fresh, local and delicious. Innovative and locally sourced ingredients expertly prepared in an elegant environment. Restaurant is small and so are the menu choices. Wine list is interesting and contains the requisite "greatest hits." "splurges" and very few real values. Nevertheless, i was more than satisfied at the end of the evening and so was my dining partner.
We have dined at The Five Fields over 20 times in the past four years - it is our favorite restaurant in London and one of our favorite in the world. The attention to detail - from the food to the dishes that it is served on - is flawless. We had the tasting menu - each course from the asparagus to the roe deer was beautifully presented - and each had a vegetable component which we think infuses freshness and delicate texture. The ambiance is lovely - quiet and calm. The team is incredibly welcoming and personable yet professional. We have also had occasion to use the private dining room upstairs (seats up to 10) which we can highly recommend. Do not miss this restaurant when you visit London.
Great decor, Dover sole excellent
Yet another outstanding dining experience with a superbly designed menu and outstanding presentation. One of the very best in London
A truly wonderful experience. Staff were very well informed and professional. Food was tasty with beautiful presentation. Wine list is very good and sommeliers very helpful.
Delightful resturant with attentive staff. Dishes are interesting and intricate, the tastebuds were in over drive.
Gran experiencia, la comida y el servicio fueron excelentes!!
Very good -excellent food and wine - will go back
This restaurant is totally exceptional. The intimate, comfortably elegant surroundings are matched by the highest quality of food and wine. These are served with a delightfully light touch, expertise and meticulous attention to detail. We’ve never come across such a superb combination anywhere else. It’s expensive and worth it.
This is one of the best dining experiences in london where food is art as well as food. The service is outstanding and intimately professional.I have rarely found better in many years of top dining.
Dining alone, felt very welcome, beautiful atmosphere, spot on service, loved the food
Nice place beautiful food excellent service!
We met friends for a great evening.
Perfect anniversary dinner! Elegant room, delicious/interesting food served by charming, knowledgeable people. A high-light of our London vacation.
Long wait for food. Excellent starters very disappointing mains... served just warm. Good deserts... not great value for price.
Very refined / elaborated food
Reasonably price for top quality
This is one of my best finds over the last couple of years-the creativity of the food, the outstanding front of house welcome and service and the quietly intimate atmosphere is simply superb.Well done to Taylor and the team.
If you enjoy eating out then this is a must. No "small plates to share, which come when they are ready" here. This is the absolute definition of fine dining. 3 course or tasting menu with a good (but not overwhelming) choice and, an excellent wine list.
The food really is the star of the show. It is not just delicious but the presentation is fabulous without being pretentious. Sometimes when the food is this good, the portions can be small, but in this case everything is served in generous measure.
What can sometimes let down a good restaurant is the service. No danger of that here, it is exemplary. The attention to detail, welcoming and attentive staff make The Five Fields a true experience.
The price will mean this isn't for everyone (£75 for 3 courses), but if you like to treat yourself from time to time this will make you feel special. Worth every penny.
Mixed feelings about 5 Fields. Service was fabulous, however there was either a lack of communication or a mistake on the wine order that was off-putting. The food is very creative, however it was somewhat over-the-top with flavors. The food should speak louder than the sauces. We were also intrigued by the architectural of the dishes--some were immaculately laid out, some were Jackson Pollack designs...
