Going to take a bit of getting used to, but the staff coped admirably with the social distancing. I'll be back.
What a fantastic Sunday lunch - the food was delicious, the service friendly and the setting was bright and welcoming. I had the soup, followed by roast chicken and panacotta whilst my son enjoyed the melted camembert, roast pork and the carrot cake. Will definitely return.
Another lovely meal at the Florence Arms. Can’t beat the food service and overall charm of the place. I love coming here and am never disappointed.
Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at The Florence Arms and the food was lovely. Deducted one point as not all menu items were available. Service was excellent, staff are really friendly and helpful, attentive without being intrusive.
Booked Florence Arms on Valentines evening. Restaurant busy but spacious. Service was excellent, waiter and waitress very friendly, efficient and attentive. Did not feel rushed at all but food arrived fairly promptly. Food was excellent.
Initial look through the window put me off but once inside was made welcome, our table was reserved and ready and staff friendly. Would have preferred chairs rather than a bench. Our food was delicious. Ambience mixture of old style pub and modern bistro
Had a lovely evening, highly recommend. I’m from Southsea and have never been before. Staff Food everything was lovely.! Will be back!!
We ate here because we were staying at the linked Florence House Boutique Hotel. We were delighted to experience a proper neighbourhood pub which was welcoming to us and our dog. It provided good food at reasonable prices.
Our first visit....
Very friendly service.
Will be back
Lovely food! We had the fillet steak and peppercorn sauce and it was delicious 😋 we also had our two dogs with us and they were very accommodating. Not far at all from the beach and pier. Aquarium and water park are also nearby. Would definitely visit again
It was my husbands birthday and the staff were exceptional, they looked after us so well. Food was delicious but the staff are a stand out for us
Delicious food, and great atmosphere
We had a lovely meal, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back!
Good value food and good quality. Gastro pub and we sat in the pub as look like nicer atmosphere rather than restaurant.
An ideal place for lunch pre ferry to France. Parking surprisingly easy. Sandwiches, chips and beer hit the spot. Will be back
Sunday lunch. Restaurant half full. No atmosphere. Food was not very hot. Beef was tough. Dissapointed.
Lovely staff but the roast beef was awfully- it was as tough as old boots. The quality wasn’t good and really over cooked. Roast beef should be medium rare or no more that medium. However even we’ll done beef can be soft but this wasn’t good at all.
Not the best quality food for the prices they are asking. Veg was overcooked on some dishes. Chicken burger was very dry.
A very friendly greeting, followed by excellent service and food made for an extremely enjoyable dining experience. Will visit again when in Southsea area
Thoroughly enjoyed eating at the Florence Arms, even though it was a reduced menu for the Great South Run. The roast was delicious.
Loved it. I can't believe I haven't been here before!
We chose The Florence Arms because it is dog-friendly. Actually it was dog-wonderfully welcoming. It is in a quiet backstreet just off the seafront: so it was possible to park in the street instead of having to pay. The restaurant itself is really nicely laid out and the service was brilliant. We were really nicely looked after. Highly recommend.
We were visiting Portsmouth for the weekend. We booked lunch never having been before. We enjoyed our lunch very much. The food was delicious, vegetables lovely, Yorkshire pudding and gravy smashing. The one thing that let it down was the beef. It was quite tough and chewy, not helped I must say by very blunt knives. Having said this I would recommend it and return if in Portsmouth!
Excellent food....the pies are something special, and large! Service was a bit random.....seems like three staff were busy serving the restaurant and bar areas. Always very pleasant service though
Excellent service friendly and welcoming the staff were extremely helpful and tentative
The food was great and they catered for me being gluten free
Absolutely delicious Sunday roast. The vegetarian option was excellent
We had a lovely meal and our waiter was really lovely
Good food, great personal service. Quiet location.
Had pre booked and sat in the bar to eat. Menu wasn't extensive. We ordered the duck dish with tagliatelle. The dish had a very strange flavour and was quite bland. Poor response when asked what Vietnamese duck was! He couldn't tell us what is was. Overall, poor value for money and drinks were expensive. I wouldn't call it a Gastropub. As we were only visiting the area it is very unlikely we would go back again.
Staff were lovely and welcoming. Excellent level of attention.
Menu is a little limited but better than having a huge one.
Portions adequately generous.
A pity there is not more atmosphere in the dining room!
Great stay. Staff , food, room excellent. Great breakfast. Martha was particularly helpful and polite. The Florence gastro pub across the road has fantastic food. Bed a little hard for us but this is a matter of preference. A little disappointed that when we asked for a second night the price went up by £20 so we declined and moved on. Otherwise good value and a great hotel.
Lovely decor and friendly atmosphere. Delicious food not an extensive menu but very well presented and a good selection of dishes. We were staying at the nearby boutique hotel that belongs to the same group who own the Florence Arms which is a few steps along the Road so very convenient
The meal was ok at best. The big issue with the meal this evening was the service. After waiting 40 minutes to place a dessert order, I finally had to find an employee and just request the check. Multiple times servers would pass by, look at our table, and then hastily move on to seemingly avoid us. We had two kids with us, but the establishment had kids menus and made no mention of them not being welcome. Assumptions and conjuncture, but regardless there was an issue with the service.
A little gem hidden in Southsea. Pleasantly surprised the interior and the atmosphere.
Lovely atmosphere excellent food especially the huge pie. Catered easily for my gluten free. Will definitely recommend to family and friends visiting the area
Over two separate evenings, we saw almost two different restaurants, first night was very good service, friendly, lots of smiling faces, light background music. Food was exceptional, good presentation, really enjoyable.
Next evening, slow service, no ambience, no smiles or friendly greeting. Food was very good. Overall we did enjoy our meals.
Really nice place, you walk in through a nice bar and then they have a lovely back room restaurant. The service is excellent. My only mild gripe was the size of the salad I order. It really was tiny for the price.
Staff were very friendly and provided good service. The food was very nice and the lamb pie was big and full of chunks of lamb which I would highly recommend. The restaurant doesn’t have much atmosphere where as the pub side does and the restaurant wasn’t full but the room was very hot and diidnt seem to have any airflow
Worth a visit
We had a lovely lunch at the Florence Arms after a graduation ceremony. Great service, lovely food and friendly staff.
