Great view, service and food. Nice cocktails too. Wonderful cheese platter
We had a wonderful evening and Cacha was outstanding in her attention to us
Really lovely very Oxford style restaurant. Excellent service and lovely atmosphere.
Stayed in Oxford for a few days, and found the Folly to be recommended on several websites. When we approached the restaurant after a stroll along the Thames, i was a tiny bit wary that this restaurant might be a bit of a tourist trap, since it was a little too perfectly situated at such a choke point for tourist traffic, at this old bridge. And there also turned out to be a tour boat operator in the same premises, the boats mooring right along the outdoor dining tables. So it might well be very crowded here on the busiest of days. But now it wasn't. Everything was actually quite perfect. The food was great, the wines were great, the restaurant interior was very appealing. I think i read a review on here that said The Folly is overpriced. Well, not at all. It should be expected that for really good food and great service, one should pay a proper price.
Food atrocious and not welcoming — hit or miss on food, and more for regulars and locals
good for the location. food was ok but not spectacular, and so overpriced.
Very enjoyable evening. Fully booked so glad we had reservation. Great choice of food on the menu.
We book a table here whenever we visit Oxford. It is of a consistently high standard and a joy to spend an evening here.
An excellent meal - we went for Father's Day with our 2 teenage kids and thoroughly enjoyed all our courses and meals. It's not cheap but the food was excellent and delicious and well presented. Everyone enjoyed it. Very good service and a nice surroundings.
Lovely attentive service in a gorgeous Riverside location. Portions were big and dishes well presented, perfectly cooked.
The atmosphere is very nice. The food is also great.
Exceptional food and venue! I would go back in a heartbeat!
Very nice food, with great service, only complain is they only had small bottles of beer no pints
Lovely location by the water. Excellent service. Food was good.
Most definitely. The setting was amazing. Window seat over looking the river Thames. Food and staff. Fantastic.
Had a lovely first visit with my vegan partner. Lovely atmosphere & staff. & the vegan options/menu didn’t have to be pre-ordered which is a bonus! Food was excellent. Definitely recommend & will be going back!
I couldn’t recommend this beautiful restaurant enough. 10/10 for atmosphere, decor, staff, food and professionalism. They made it a wonderful evening.
The restaurant has a great setting on the banks of the river and the place itself is very cosy and pleasantly decorated.
The waiter was very attentive and friendly and the service was good. We didn’t have to wait too long between courses.
It’s a shame the main dish was such a let down. We ordered the duck breast dish at£20. It was more like a quarter of a breast cut into two on a tiny piece of spinach and two small dollops if mash.
It looked well laid out on the half a plate it covered, but extremely overpriced for what you get.
The potatoes and soup starter was actually far tastier and more filling.
Had a lovely meal here last Sunday evening. The waiter was knowledgeable and efficient. Gluten free options were good on main course but not very inspiring for desert which was a shame. Had to have an espresso martini instead which was yummy.
Lovely food and good, quiet atmosphere with charming view of the river.
Lovely setting,view and decor.
Food very good and ambience excellent.
Few niggles apart from being expensive(£60 more expensive than The Old Parsonage).
No seating in bar area for pre dinner drinks. Sharing bread board had 5 slices for 4 people, so was it 1 and a quarter piece each?
amazing food and service. great for vegans and dietary needs.
Food, drinks and service all very good. The only slight concern was their desire to seat everyone by the windows (on a dark night), leaving the rest of the restaurant empty. I'd have preferred diners were spread around, giving a little more privacy and comfort. Regardless, would return when next in town.
The atmosphere, location and food were all very good. Highly recommend.
Beautiful place with amazing food! Highly recommend.
Lovely meal and evening at The Folly the atmosphere was great and the food delicious, enjoyed the pre dinner cocktails also.
Great restaurant beside the Thames river, great food and good service, will visit again
Slightly let down by dessert (chocolate pud) whixj didn’t seem of quite the same excellent quality as the rest of the meal.
Restaurant setting was perfect, food was tasty but the cleanliness and tidy ness of outside could have been a lot better. Decks need a wash down daily and tables could do with either a paint or replaced. Outside of building looks tatty and is not aesthetically enticing you to come in to dine.
We are regular diners at the folly after finding this fantastic restaurant about 2 years ago. I had put a review on trip advisor after our last visit picking out a few niggly things that the staff might do a bit better. Well someone obviously took note of my observations & to their credit this visit was absolutely flawless. This is one of our favourite restaurants. There are very few quality restaurants in Oxford so we would highly recommend this one for superlative presentation & quality of the food. It’s a must for foodies. Well done to all the staff this time for the outstanding service. 😄😄
Lovely waterfront location. Food was excellent. Service a little slow but we were not in any rush so that was fine. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Happy to recommend this one.
Very nice location. Lots of history with such noted on back of the menu. Special (fish dish) was wonderful, as was the beef pie, mash and carrots.
Pea and mint Soup was refreshing and the service was excellent. Looking forward to visiting again on our next trip to Oxford.
We took our teenage son for Sunday lunch. His burger was outstanding as was the carrot and orange soup he had as a starter. We both ordered the fish of the day which was nicely prepared and well-presented. The vegetables especially were well-cooked. The cheesecake was nice though not wonderful. The service was fine, but the ambiance — it manages to be both relaxed and festive — was perfect. We’d definitely go back.
Lovely location and food & service was good.
Great setting on the Thames, but very slow service. And after waiting so long, the food was ok, not great. The sole was disappointingly flat and tasteless and the lamb was a bit over-cooked. Impossible to park anywhere near the restaurant.
Nice view nice food. What an enjoyable lunch there!
A wonderful dinner on the river, excellent wine list, small menu but everything is delicious.
Friend over from Brisbane
Food was good not great but we did have a very pleasant time. We had to wait for our food order but the staff kept us informed and gave us some olives "on the house" which they didn't have to do. It was a nice evening so to dine outside by the water was a real bonus. The menu was varied and the staff were all very good - helpful and attentive. It was busy whilst we were there.
Had a great tkb
