Tuna Fillet Steak
Fish & Chips
Fantastic food, in perfect surroundings. We went on a Sunday afternoon with only one waitress working, the food was worth the wait. Starter for 1 was enough for 2 and as for the onion rings! Wow.
Great steak in vibrant atmosphere, dessert good too. Wines reasonably priced.
Absolutely amazing food. The staff were so lovely and made it a more enjoyable evening for us however the drinks orders were very slow to arrive, at one point we waited over 20 minutes for a cocktail however it was a Saturday night and they were fully booked so it’s not as long as it could have been.
Steak was good but had better, salad was satisfactory. Chips were really good. We also had a dessert of apple pie with ice cream and it was awful, tasted very powdery , tasted as it wasn't fully defrosted. Food was delivered before our drinks but we waited for dessert nearly half an hour and had to chase it up couple of times. Won't be going back for sure.
Fantastic food lovely staff and superb atmosphere
We go at least once a month and this time
We was sat upstairs the service was really good girls always asking if we was ok and really helpful
After a friend recommend we thought we would try it out
It was such a great experience
staff were lovely and friendly food was amazing loved that you cook your steak yourself just to how you like it was over all great quality and a lovley visit
Terrible slow service. Had to get our own drinks from the bar. Steaks finally came after 1 hour 45 minutes. One totally inedible, 2 really salty & 1 was ok. Men’s loos disgusting & overflowing. Unsafe entrance te the bar several people fell including my husband. Food left on the floor, grind slipped on it whilst manager was filling in first accident report form. Absolute disaster.
Very disappointed, very long wait between finishing starter & main, over 1 hour. Asked 3 times when food was arriving was told “just coming” then was told “just started it”. Asked for a drink to accompany our meal waited over 30 mins for a glass of wine so no drink with meal my partner waited until her drink arrived in the mean time her meal went cold. Waitresses was very apologetic they seem to be being let down by kitchen & bar staff. This is very unfortunate because they get the complaints from unhappy customers like myself. The major plus was I can not compliment the food enough very tasty stakes. Unfortunately the experience as a whole was not good & left my partner feeling she had had a poor birthday night out. If the service can improve I’d recommend this restaurant. Thank you also for the honesty of your waitress on returning the phone we left behind.
Very noisy environment- crispy prawns good - steak / chateaubriand should melt in your mouth but didn’t- although 16ozs was enough for 2 to share
We absolutely love the forge BUT was this time did not seem as nice as all the other times. I like my steak quite rare & by the time it got to the table it was cooking very fast. When I started cutting it was already cooked through so I was slightly disappointed as I had to take it straight off the black rock. Looking around at other tables, another couple next to us had to ask for a spare plate because there’s was the same. Onion rings was not as nice as last time either. Last time they was herby & crispy. This time just plane & quite soggy. Bit disappointed but still love the food.
By far the best steak I’ve had in very long time 10/10 🥩👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
After many many visits here it's so difficult to find fault cos there is none! Excellent food and service - just fabulous 😍
Extraordinary good night we will be back when we are in the city next
I didn't think I liked steak before ! 😊
Thanks. I'll be back.
Visited the forge Sunday lunchtime . We had booked an inside table but was lovely weather so sat out . We had steak on the stone with extra sauce and onion rings . It was absolutely gorgeous. Couldn’t fault a thing. . The service was good both at the table and bar and the staff are all really nice and friendly . Will definitely be back and definitely do recommend .
We booked a meal for 2 for our anniversary (advised on booking it was for a anniversary)
We got seated next to a table of 6 who were very very loud. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all so I don’t see why groups and couples we’re seated together
We arrived at 8pm for our booked time and it was 8.25pm before someone came to take our first drinks order.
2 other tables near us complained of the food and drink wait time.
Ordered a 2nd drink that never even arrived with us
Food was ok but I’m afraid we won’t be returning
Chips were very dry - tasted like they had been sat there for hours and reheated, sauces were forgotten, no tomato or mushroom was provided for one of the steaks. Cooking your own steak is just a gimmick not worth paying for, completely overpriced, will not visit again.
This was my 4th visit to the Forge. The 3 previous have been sort of ok the food is good but the service can be hit and miss . The 4th visit the service was shocking our booking was for 7.00pm we ordered starters which came very quick, around 7.20pm but our mains came at 8.45 which is not acceptable this was our last and final time here .
Menu’s and decor seemed pretty dirty. Food was terrible. Camembert was overdone meaning the garlic in it had become bitter. Vegetarian pie was dry and unseasoned and over done. I know it’s a steak restaurant but would expect there to be a decent veggie option and the sides to be good quality given that the steak was being cooked by us. Chips were soggy and greasy as were the onion rings. Peppercorn sauce was nice though! Service was fairly poor.
Really nice as always.
Could do with butter to cook the steak in because the steak just sticks to the rock and gives you that burnt taste and makes the hole restaurant smoky.
Apart from that great experience for a once in a while treat
Delicious food. Great place. Good staff .lovely place to eat & drink, the food is really amazing, and you must try the onion rings. We will be going again. Thank you.
This was our first time here it was recommended by a few friends. The place is great. Me and my husband both love a steak but these were probably the best weve had. Very large portions, lots of extras, service was brilliant young lady that served us was lovly. Will definitely be returning soon.
The meal was satisfactory, the restaurant itself was dirty . My table was dirty and the staff looked shabby . The staff were polite .
This was my second visit to the forge and I was a little disappointed with the overall experience. The restaurant was busy and the staff were working hard to deliver the level of service expected, but for whatever reason that service fell a little short.
There were six of us dining and the expectation is always that all meals will be served together, but for both starters and main course this didn't happen.
4 people ordered chateaubriand, but when served to the table there were no plates to eat from, and when plates were requested and eventually arrived, they were side plates.
For myself I ordered steak pie, which, when eventually being served (ten minutes after my fellow diners) the pastry was was not fresh and crispy, but very hard as, were the chips.
This was a special occasion to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday with our family, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.
The meat was decent, but the potatoes tasted like they’d not been washed, the fries tasted like old chip pan oil and we wasn’t even asked how our meal was by anyone. Everything seemed extremely careless and rushed. When we had finished our meal, one of the waitresses walked past and whilst walking, threw the bill on the table without saying anything. About 10 minutes later the same waitress walked past again and muttered “Oh f**k, has she not brought you the card machine?”, and walked away again. She then brought us the card machine and left it with us to pay. Considering the meal for two of us cost just shy of £70, the quality of the food and service we received was not good at all and we were really disappointed in the experience. The only decent experience we received was the welcome we received when we arrived. It went downhill from there.
Fantastic food with a great atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff.
We were sat down straight away. Then waited 15 minutes to be served( I had to ask the waitress over)
The food was lovely albeit it the chips were very hard and not ver nice, the onion rings had no onion in or very little .
The toilets had no drying facilities that were working in the men’s and no bin . My husband and I were very disappointed as this was our wedding anniversary .
I love this place but unfortunately there were no mushrooms! No salad dressing and the salad had definitely seen better days!
The sirloin wasn’t the best I’ve had there but still okay….
Staff are amazing …
A beautiful meal and I enjoyed the hot stone enabling us to take our steaks off when they were cooked to our liking. Staff were friendly and helpful and even rang us when my child left their headphones behind. We will be back
The food was delicious 😋 and service was great. The only downfall was the incredibly slippery floor, nearly went over twice.
The ambience is good and they were welcoming but as soon as we sat down we didn't really get any service apart from food being dropped off. The food really was below average, stale chips, cold sauces that you pay extra for. Definitely, not somewhere I'd go back to.
Love the food here never disappointed when we go staff very friendly and helpful
The food here was good, although I think an extra plate should be supplied to place your steak on once it has cooked on the stone (to save overcooking?). What let our trip down, and has meant a low star review, was the service time. The staff were friendly enough but the amount of time we had to wait was unacceptable. 15 minutes for drinks and then a whole hour between starters and mains!
Cannot fault the food or prices . We have visited a few times and will return
Food was very nice and promptly served after ordering. Staff friendly and attentive.
Nice layout restaurant greeted nice at the start and shown are table.
Then the menu was given to us which for my experience let it down it was very tatty did not look clean. They need re doing.
Apart from that great night
This was my first visit and was disappointed with the very shabby menu. Surely they can afford to have new one's printed. Otherwise it was okay.
We've been here a couple of times now and everytime never been disappointed food is amazing and staff are so helpful and welcoming and definitely will be returning again soon
