Great atmosphere for a Raptors game with tasty eats and drinks! Loved the decor/vibe! Will be back again soon.
Service was quick, friendly, and thoughtful! Our server made sure we were well looked after and was quick to bring out both our food and beverage orders. Will definitely return in the not too distant future!
First time here and totally loved it! The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing. Definitely coming back and highly recommend!
The food was great, the beer was on point, the staff and the atmosphere were amazing.
The restaurant service was great. But the ambience of patio outside is kinda alright. I would’nt say it was amazing.
I didn’t know that my date has a dairy free dietary restriction. If you do, this place is not the right choice 😅 I felt bad that he got to choose only one item that was dairy free from the entire menu.
The wings were some of the best I've had in Toronto. Buffalo chicken nachos were tasty. Server was prompt and friendly, excellent service. Only thing I would change is there is no price for doubles so even rail liquor is overly expensive at the moment. Would definitely recommend/return.
Highly recommend the salmon, comes with the most delicious potatoes you've ever tasted and a fabulous sauce. Started the evening off with their Margharita special - very good, nice and salty! and on sale! Service is excellent, friendly, efficient but not obnoxious. Tables nicely spaced with greenery, great atmosphere! Good place for dinner or drinks, I'll go back for sure! and a two minute walk from St.George station - Love it!
It was great service. Difficult to split bill the way we wanted to.
Food was OK, but not the best pub food. Chicken pot pie was salty and average tasting. Salads looked almost sad. Drinks were decent though. Service was very friendly but a little bit slow even though only few customers were there.
Loved this place and will definitely be returning! The spirits list was extensive and reasonable priced, all their cocktails were creative and tasty, our server was absolutely wonderful and the food options (even on the late night menu) were definitely a step above standard bar food. Even the nachos, a classic bar food staple, really stood out! Overall a great experience and can’t wait to return!
Not good. I arrived for my reservation only to stand at the door waiting to be seated and overheard a waitress tell customers that she was too busy to check something for them but she would when she found the time. She ignored me standing there. I was eventually seated. Waited for a waitress to order a drink. When my Negroni finally arrived I was told “heads up we ran out of compari so we made your drink with Aperol. Let me know if you don’t like it. I eventually left after telling the waitress that the drink was no good and my appetite for staying had all together vanished. Also, very loud rock music. The vibe of this place did not match the decor represented in the photos on Open Table. Very disappointed.
this is just a casual bar/grill/pool table kind of place. However, the service was extraordinarily friendly, and the food so good. I had the salmon dinner- cooked perfectly, potatoes and asparagus. Five Stars!
Loved the live music
Very disappointing for a Kimpton property ... and a very nice Kimpton property at that ... no inspiration, no creativity, just average bar food with a below average bar ...
Had the nachos with chicken. Have to say wasn't the best - cheese wasn't melted through (enough said) . As for the service there was no follow-up after the food was served , nor second offer for drinks or top up for water ( which by the way was served with no ice) can't say I'd make the effort to go back.
1. off key singer was in attendance that night.
2. Gusts of cold wind came thru every time one of two doors opened.
The short rib poutine was great! Their drinks are very creative and tasty. I had the 'Fox News' and it was quite refreshing.
We also ordered the peppercorn steak and shortrib mains, and both were okay. The Short Rib dinner wasn't particularly inspired. It was much more in the style of a "meat and potatoes" British pub meal, rather than anything fancy. Tasted almost like packaged gravy and the shortribs were more like a shaved pot roast type of meat.
Otherwise the ambiance and service was solid.
Super Bowl event, great crowd, good screens, good food, staff engaging in Super Bowl prizes. Would like more squares called out next time. Only half time square called.
It's been a long time since I've gone to a restaurant and enjoyed the ambiance this much. The restaurant was full and I didn't feel like I could hear any other conversations; the acoustics were really well controlled. The food was delicious (though, they definitely need more cheese on their nachos) and the drinks were very reasonably priced. Especially for a hotel bar/restaurant, the value was very good. Will definitely be back and recommend The Fortunate Fox to friends.
This was the first time I was there and definitely would go back. The food and service were both very good. There was four of us so lots of catching up to do and it was so nice not to be rushed.
A surprisingly nice dining experience at a great value. When you walk in there's the wallet butterflies of being in a really nice space in a good neighborhood in Toronto but the value was impeccable. Appetizers were large enough to share with a table of 4, drinks were affordably priced, refills were plentiful and prompt. Entrees were appropriately priced and well prepared. There's nothing more disappointing paying $20 for a burger and regretting every bite. Not here! Great burger, dressed well, good bun and a healthy amount of fries to go along. Also well under $20 for their burgers. Well done! (My burger was a nice medium.)
Friendly service. We ordered a plate of nachos, the house chopped salad and a foxy cobb salad. The food came out very quickly and was delicious and fresh. Very fairly priced. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely no food
What a terrible experience! The service was horrendous! Waited 20 minutes to order our drinks. Had to ask the waiter 3 times for water for the table to the point that I actually had to leave my table and find him to ask for the water for the 3rd time! We were on a time constraint because we had a movie to catch and told the waiter as soon as we sat down. When he brought the food, we asked for the check so we could just pay and leave as soon as we were done eating. We asked two more times and he didn’t bring it. Finally got up and had to go and pay at the bar. Waited a good 7 minutes until any of the bar staff even bothered to speak to us or even bother looking up from what they were doing. We told them the about our experience- no apology at all. He handed us the check in a very rude manner. No thank yous, no apologiesa huge disappointment. What a bad reflection for the hotel too.
It was Christmas Day and they were open for service! I’m thankful to the cooks and and service staff for a wonderful dinner and looking after my family when they couldn’t be with theirs.
I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered as I ate off everyone’s plate. Pulled pork nachos and poutine were good share items that everyone enjoyed. Drink list was reasonably priced. Staff were lovely up to and including the security man.
I will absolutely stop in again next time I’m in that area.
We generally request and are given a special table. We are 5 ladies who come at 1pm and there's no telling how long we'll be there. We left at 7:45 last Sunday after brunch, afternoon coffee with dessert and then a light supper!!! We are treated very well by staff, even staff who know us but are not serving our table. Ruth especially. Merry Christmas and thanks for everything!!! Maxine
Disappointingly loud ... has the ambiance of a sports bar - lot's of yelling from the restaurant goers, TV screens with sports and darts (sigh). Last year when we had our Christmas gathering there, it had a more elegant vibe. Definitely for a younger, more "energetic" crowd. Not my scene any more sadly. Service was very good but we were situated in a very cold area by the door. When the restaurant is half full I am mystified when you get seated in a really uncomfortable place in the restaurant - with an icy draft up your back. Sorry, wish I could be more positive. However, our server was quite good - very attentive and prompt.
Amazing, thanks for a great night! My friends and I had a lot of fun.
I had a reservation for my birthday for this past Saturday. I found The Fortunate Fox online and it looked like exactly what I was looking for. What I got was a call a few hours on the day of my reservation that they were closed for a private event that night. I was told a manager would call me to offer another of their establishments since it would be almost impossible to get reservations for Saturday night late Saturday afternoon. I waited and waited but no call came. I scrambled calling places to get a last minute reservation, I had no luck and had to cancel my birthday celebration. I am extremely disappointed.
Enjoyed our meal, and the ambience, at the Fortunate Fox. Will return sometime and recommend it.
Appetizer was cold and waiter took it off the bill. Well done. Food was tasty, mainly pub fare. Noise level high. We would go back perhaps if in the area again.
Overall good. We ordered nachos as a starter, unfortunately they arrived together with the main course.
Slow and confused service. There’s a drink on the menu called “spirit animal”. Culturally appropriative and offensive.
Mac and cheese was good.
The "Fox News" was a delicious cocktail, and I really enjoyed the Short Rib Hash!! I will return for a repeat another day! My lunch companions also enjoyed their food and drink, though a few of the ladies were disappointed that we could only order from the "Brunch" menu. It is rather limited compared to the "Lunch" menu which we discovered is unavailable on the weekend.
Enjoyed our dinner. Only negative is that the restaurant’s ventilation is poor. Our eyes were burning by the time we left and our clothes smelled of grease. Otherwise, staff, service, and food were great.
For a pub setting, it was very impersonal although maybe that should be expected given its locale (a large metropolitan city). The food was fine - not outstanding but fine. The service was still good and our server very willing to swap out a beer that didn’t taste quite up to snuff so kudos to him for trying to enhance the experience. Would I go back? Yes but it may not be my first choice.
Ambience was fine. Food was strictly mediocre. Service was slow. What struck me above anything else was after I inquired about poached eggs that were hard, I was told that I did not ask for them soft. I did not bother to continue argument and I simply ate the Hard poached eggs and the mediocre food.
On the positive side there was lots of space and it's a very central location. But anyone looking for a fine brunch with good service should definitely steer themselves elsewhere.
Just went for drinks. Had some nachos and it was a good time.
Our server was attentive without being intrusive. Decor is rather dark for my taste, but tasteful and on trend. We ordered fish and chips and vegetarian burger - we both liked our selections. Our first visist and I would return.
