The Fox and Hounds Llancarfan
Jim and Rhiannon Dobson look forward to welcoming you to The Fox and Hounds - a destination pub in the secluded village of Llancarfan on the banks of a little brook. In the winter, relax in a comfortable chair in our newly refurbished bar next to the roaring log burner.
Dogs are more than welcome at The Fox and Hounds and they can join you at your table should you wish. There is even a jar of doggie treats for them on the bar!

Very cosy restaurant, good food, nice choice, good service.
Highlights of our meal this time were the beef croquette starter , hake with brown shrimp sauce and the mince pie ice cream and Fox’s special was lovely. The food gets better each time we visit and the welcome is warm and friendly despite the current restrictions.
Bwyd a chroeso arbennig. Diolch
Great pub with great food served by very friendly staff. Felt very safe in current Covid situation
Always very very good quality ☺️☺️☺️ Food and staff very very good
Very pleased we found this pub to stop for Sunday lunch while passing through. The roast beef was incredible and the staff were all very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Welcome warm and friendly despite all the restrictions. Safe environment with adequate spacing between guests and all adhering to mask wearing etc. Food was all delicious as usual. I especially enjoyed my main course, so many yummy tastes and different textures
in a plate sized vol au vent!
The nicest meal we’ve both had in a long time. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was delicious. Fish and chips a must.
Amazing food and wonderful service. Best place to eat in the Vale.
Lovely to get out and meet some friends for lunch. Pub very quiet due to restrictions but first class food and service. Have already planned our next visit.
The food was fantastic, the service was quick and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere with good music playing.
Fantastic service, food was lovely, what we expected which was good food and good choice. Definately recommend
Look - this is our local, 50 meters away! We love it, we support it, it's the centre of our community. And we enjoy visitors, as much we hope as they enjoy our welcome. A very special place to stay.
The food and service was excellent. Really nice food, generous portions at reasonable prices. £80 for 3 courses, 2 pints and a coke.
I'd say the only downside was the over extravagant local couple sat near by. The gentleman knew everyone in the pub and after a few bottles of red, he wanted to make this clear to everyone within a 3 miles radius.
I would definitely return but be cautious of some of the locals that can come across quite snotty, with endless pockets and big mouths.
A little gem! We love this place. A cosy village pub with fantastic food. We were reassured to see the staff clearly following the Welsh COVID regulations. Good spacing between the tables and a one way system around the pub in place. The staff here are always friendly and helpful and the food is superb. Menu is varied and there’s a good choice of wines. We definitely recommend the Fox and Hounds and will certainly be going again.
The food was lovely, the service the right level of attentiveness. Children sceptical with whether they find something they liked, but absolutely did. The blackcurrant mousse was possibly the nicest pudding I have ever had.
Excellent food and great service. Would recommend it.
Excellent Sunday dinner and very welcoming to our family - toddler and dog included 😃
First meal out since March and very impressed. Restaurant well set up to deal with COVID. The food and service were both first class. I couldn’t recommend highly enough. We have booked again for next week.
Sunday roast was excellent and very good value. Staff very friendly. Will definitely return.
Delicious food, a lovely atmosphere and great wine 👍
Sense of peace as you enter. Seem to have good old fashioned values but in a modern setting. Very professional outfit.
A great rural location with superb food and a great wine list.
Dog friendly so Ralph can enjoy too. Its great to support a local business during these difficult times as they are doing such a great job. Would highly recommend
very friendly staff, excellent menu choices and a choice of seating areas. They even stock a decent non alcoholic wine.
Lovely food and good service. Restaurant could do with a bit more love on the decor front
Really enjoyed our visit to the Fox and Hounds on Sunday. All the staff were very attentive and cheerful. The wine and food were brought out in perfect time and the beef was incredible.
First time to visit was really impressed Had a Sunday lunch will definitely be returning
Lovely Sunday lunch and vegetarian option. Good COVID procedures in place. Staff were friendly enough although it was understandably difficult while wearing face masks. Beautiful setting although narrow lanes to access the village.
The food was delicious. We had starters of whitebait, scampi, bread and polenta chips between four and they were all very good. Mains: chicken with an onion and mushroom tart and two cod with fish stews. All excellent. Desserts were also very tasty - frangipane tart and rhubarb sorbet with vanilla pudding and cheese board. Service was a little slow but otherwise very good.
Enjoyable food, very enjoyable first visit. We shall return!
Lovely place very friendly atmosphere found menu bit limited and was quite expensive for what it was but as they say u get what u pay for and the venue was outstanding
Lovely old pub with great food and friendly staff.
Lovely old pub with restaurant
Decorated well with plenty of room around tables
We sat in a corner table for two
Food was very good and portions were not too big which suited me
On the night we visited we shared our part of the restaurant with a large group of twenty something females who were loud and excitable . We have children that age so it did not bother us too much until their use of bad language increased !
I had the feeling they may have been locals or more local than us . With low background music we had no choice but to listen to their natter.
That said the food was good and this would not put us off visiting again .
However more thought should have gone into where we were put to eat knowing that the noise levels were likely to be high and intrusive
Lovely little local pub, the food was amazing. My husband and I both had the roast beef dinner, it was so tasty, was the best we have ever had. The staff were so friendly and could do enough for us. Will definitely be visiting more often.
After hearing so many good reviews I opted for this pub for my brothers 40th birthday.
Food was barely average I’m afraid.
We are, of course, really sorry that clearly we did not live up to your expectations on this (important) occasion. Truly sorry. With best wishes
What an excellent pub/ restaurant. We have not been here for about 18 months but it was so good in every way that we will be back quite soon. All the food tasted freshly cooked and was first class in every way. Service was knowledgeable and very pleasant.
We were about 30 minutes late but all because we got lost on the way and did not allow enough time - not again!
We will be returning quite soon and will encourage all our friends too!
Great Sunday lunch but service was hampered by two larges tables turning up late. However, the offer of free dessert or drink was greatly appreciated for having to wait a while for our meals. Thanks
1st class food & service as always. Best Sunday lunch by a mile. Great choice of wine as well.
Lovely staff. Sunday lunch was very good.
Really enjoyed the Sunday lunch, the food and the service were very good. Very friendly staff, the only slight issue was that we were seated in an area that seemed particularly cold which put a bit of a dampener on the experience. But it won’t put us off going again.
Good brunch on New Years Day, helpful staff and great value.
