The Fox & Pheasant
The pub was founded in 1846 and it began its life as the Bedford Arms. Ten years later it changed to the Prince of Wales and in 1965 became The Fox & Pheasant and we have no intention of changing its name again!
Not only are we a snug pub in the winter with 3 fire places, a dartboard and dog biscuits for the well behaved companions (dogs)! We are lucky enough to be able to wind back our roof in the conservatory for those long summer lunches to.
Alongside our a la carte menu we have a bar snack menu that not only runs all day, everyday but also contains such pub classics. Roasts run all day on a Sunday and we guarantee to make sure you will always have ample spuds, gravy and yorkies!
A wonderful dinner! We very much enjoyed the atmosphere and our meals.
Delicious food, beautifully presented. Helpful and friendly service. A really good, different and comprehensive wine list. Terrific ambience with the place full of people really enjoying themselves.
This is an absolute jewel of a place - highly recommended.
This is what you want in a neighbourhood pub/restaurant. The food is excellent with a well conceived and brilliantly executed menu. The ham and cheese pie is epic as is all the food, wine and coffee. Top notch all round.
A real hidden gem!! Great food, Wonderful atmosphere, and nice people.
Always fab food and service. Our favourite pub in the area
We had a delicious Sunday lunch. Restaurant was lovely and the staff were really lovely. Highly recommend
Real nice outside seating area (with glass roof covering if the weather's bad). Amazing roast lunch.
Great food on every visit and staff are always very friendly. It’s great to have a ‘county pub’ in the middle of London
Too noisy in the dining room a drunken crowd on the next table spills drinks on at least 2 occasions not enough space around the tables
Always a nice vibe , polite staff , food great
Absolutely amazing food and the staff were so pleasant and friendly, we went early for opening time and I was lovely and quiet, I would definitely go back and definitely recommend.
Absolutely love this place. One thing annoyed us this time though was the tinny music coming from the tiny speaker overhead. A small thing. The food, as always, was delicious and the staff are really lovely
We brought our Spanish family visiting from Spain to prove British food can be great and they were delighted with the Sunday Roast beef. Mission accomplished. Well done Fox & Pheasant. Immaculate service too.
Really nice place - fantastic dining room which is essentially a huge conservatory but with a retractable roof - brilliant on a warm summer evening
A light and charming dining area in a conservatory at the rear of the pub with retractable rooflights to create an al fresco environment in good weather as it was yesterday evening. Informal, friendly service and a varied menu with very reasonable pricing, starters £6-10, mains £15-21, puddings £7. Plenty of choice on the wine list and draught beers and lagers available from the bar. For starters, we had a deeply-flavoured pea soup (unexpectedly hot rather than, as we had assumed, cold, which was our mistake for not asking) and a tasty but slightly under-seasoned beef tartare (but that might just be personal taste). For mains, we had the lamb rump, beautifully cooked, tender and full of flavour with just the right amount of pinkness, and the pork chop, cooked well done as requested with good accompaniments. For pudding, my lemon posset with blueberry compôte was excellent, rich with massive lemon flavour contrasting nicely the sharp-sweet blueberries (it was also a massive quantity which felt like enough to share between two) but my companion's peach soufflé lacked any discernable peach flavour, being a well-prepared soufflé but tasting blandly sugary-sweet as the delicate peach was presumably overwhelmed and lost in cooking. Overall, though, an excellent meal, with only a couple of small and forgivable mis-steps, and thoroughly good value at £120 for two people for three courses, a glass of champagne and another drink (one glass of rioja, one small lager) each, coffees and 12.5% service charge. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service. It was everyone's first time in the restaurant and everyone said they would come back.
Love this little place. Very keen to try the Sunday lunch one of these days
this was our first time to the pub and found the overall price was on the high side - the bill was £90 for two starters/main course, bottle of wine - for a local pub this is expensive - we won't be rushing back for dinner maybe a drink at the bar!
We have been here several times now and absolutely love the place, very relaxing, food lovely especially the sunday roast chicken. Staff are lovely very friendly and make you feel very welcome . Just one small gripe this time we shared the carrot cake which was a special, thought it was going to be a big slab of cake but in fact a very small square piece of cake, slightly burnt and very overpriced.
Pub appeared a little cliquey at first but restaurant was great and steak really tasty.
Really good all round and quickly becoming a benchmark venue.
Favourite pub in London. Incredible food and beautifully decorated pub. Highly recommend.
Lovely meal for my fiancé’s 30th birthday, staff were amazing. whilst four of us enjoyed our meal tremendously one member of our party had the bavette steak which was far too chewy but the staff dealt with it brilliantly and removed it from the bill. The conservatory area with the roof pulled back was amazing on a summers evening. Lovely ambience!
The food is always so tasty, really top quality and fantastic value
Brilliant food, pie, lamb, desserts. Brilliant place to eat with friends and family, particularly conservatory. We're becoming regulars
As usual we had a very good meal . My husband and a friend shared the beef special and said it was excellent. Friendly and helpful staff
Great food and drinks. Service is excellent a hidden gem.
Fabulous. Nice vibe, great food and wonderful service.
As always amazing Sunday lunch. Have never had a bad meal. Service and all staff are amazing
Friendly pub, delicious food... very lovely evening.
Had a lovely evening seeing family over from Australia on Friday night. Staff are great, the right side of attentive, drinks and food were absolutely spot on. We’ll be back for sure.
lovely pub which makes you feel like you're in the countryside! delicious fine food
Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and had a perfect Irish coffee at the end👍
Very impressed, the overall atmosphere was good the food was first class.
Great value for money would recommend the Fox & Pheasant.
Delicious food, Great pub! Country Inn LONDON! Would highly recommend
hidden gem with outstanding food - the best souffle I have ever tasted
Great food and really cute country style pub. We sat out the back in the greenhouse which was cute. The only negative was the the staff seemed so stressed, they were running around like headless chickens which created a stressful atmosphere. Inevitably there were some accidents of staff knocking things over and dropping things. It was busy but didn’t see the need for them to be literally running across the room
The food was absolutely delicious. I had the fish and chips which I usually regret ordering because it is often too big and too greasy although always seems like a wonderful idea when you’re hungry! The Fox and Pheasant served a fat free (not really obviously but it tasted like it!) perfectly sized yummy plateful. My partner had the chicken pie which was amazing too
Fantastic food and service. Scotch eggs are delectable. Beautiful summery dining room at the back. Thoroughly recommend.
