Service was terrible. Waited 40 minutes for a starter. One main came out and then waited a few minutes for the next only for it to be forgotten. Food itself was very tasty.
Fantastic Meal and staff very friendly helpful and fully accommodating of needs. Will visit again soon.
Our booking was on the same night as the Chipping Norton Fair so understandably the Pub was very busy upon arrival. As a consequence, I think the waitress forgot our order as it was at least a 30 minute wait for our fish and chips. Luckily when I prompted her, the kitchen bell rang for service, so all ended well.
Great selection of ales and very nice portions of food served.
Staff was amazing and friendly we loved this place
Staff were friendly but service was slow. We waited almost 30 mins for our food. We both chose the Sunday roast beef but it was barely cooked, being completely pink and bloody with no browning around the edges. The rest of the food was delicious but barely warm. We were given a partial refund but it spoiled our wedding anniversary celebration.
The food was very well presented and delicious with a good choice on the menu.
Sadly they seemed short staffed and so the service was a little slow....it was a good thing that the food was definitely worth the wait !
However the waitress acknowledged our wait and was very apologetic and seemed most sincere.
I would definitely recommend eating here.
We enjoyed our evening and the food was lovely.
Service was very fast , friendly and efficient especially our waiter who was Portuguese. We would definitely recommend The Fox.
We went for a meal on a Monday evening which is 'pie and a pint' night. The pies were lovely just the right size with fresh vegetables and a choice of potatoes just right. Several of our party had different things and everyone enjoyed their meal.
Great steak, great atmosphere with great service to match!
Welcoming, great food, good price. Attentive staff but not overwhelming. What a lovely place for a good meal out. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic find - beautiful pub, lovely team who knew their stuff (both food and drink) and looked after us fantastically. Food was all lovely and menu great (try the snack starters!)
Nice location, staff provided excellent service and the food was great, would recommend a visit
Enjoyable meal in a nice family pub vibe. BBQ sauce on the brisket was actually quite spicy!
Lovely location with good rooms. Staff were friendly and food and drinks top drawer.
We went to the fox for fathers day with out toddler and dog they were very accommodating for sitting us in a dog friendly area and very quickly had brought over a high chair and colouring for my son. The service was wonderful very friendly especially for our friendly spaniel who enjoyed a few biscuits and water brought by the staff. The food was delicious my son had the fish goujons and I've never seen such scrummy batter before! The advantage of having their own parking and town centre location was great. We shall definitely visit again, thanks for making our visit so relaxing team Fox!
We were staying locally but chose to eat out in Chipping Norton. My youngest daughter found The Fox after trawling the internet for somewhere close by that would cater to her (somewhat selective) tastes. The Fox delivered and we had a very enjoyable meal. We had booked a table for 7.30 but happened to be ready earlier and they were very happy to accommodate us an hour before our booked time.
Lovely plate full of food. I went for the bangers and mash - my all time favourite comfort meal and the local bangers came with creamy mash and some perfectly cooked seasonal vegetables and red onion gravy. Would recommend.
Food good, waiting staff did seem very busy perhaps more staff needed on a busy Friday.
While there was plenty of food, especially with the starter, the quality left a great deal to be desired. Service, while friendly was disorganised and unprofessional.
Food (for two) ordered at 7.30pm food served at 8.50!! Waiters apologetic however disgusted to wait so long without any justification.
The only waitress was clearly struggling to cope with the busy evening. We arrived for 7.30 for Pie Night, but by 8 pies had sold out.
After waiting nearly 45mins for much anticipated pies we were disappointed with the tiny portion size, but thought at least that meant room for a pud... again a good half hour wait for pre made desserts which at £7.50 each were again tiny and shocking for the price. Unfortunately we won't be returning anytime soon :(
Welcomed when we arrived and quickly shown to a nice window table. Food was excellent with the tiny exception of a piece of something unexpected in my sticky toffee pudding. Parking facilities make this a no-brainer location for anyone who doesn't know the local car park locations.
Great food & service. We had a 4 month old baby who was making a little noise, so can't review noise. But will defiantly return when visiting the area.
The staff over lunchtime were lovely and friendly and the service was great. The food was good, could have done with a bit more veg and potatoes with our roast though.
We had a pleasant meal at The Fox. We had the squid to start which was very nice, followed by two steaks, a seabass and a vegetarian moussaka. All were fine. It was a very busy night.
Great roasts. Only issue is they had run out of 2 of the options.
On arrival we were show to a table right by the door. It was very draughty in this area and we asked to be moved. Waitress was very accommodating and found us another table. Not sure whether this table should be offered as too close to the door. Music in the new area was loud, but immediately turned down when we requested. All in all great service and lovely food
Comfortable dining - waitress was excellent with our young grandson.
Sunday Roast Chicken is a triumph, plenty of food for two and the sides were lovely too, however I think that they could have thrown in the Yorkshire pudding for free, £3.00 is a bit steep.
Its nice to have somewhere else to go for Sunday lunch, however it did take some time to be served and its not as if we hadn't booked a table.
We will be back though.
We had mussels in a Thai sauce, they were amazing. Can not fault food and service
The fox did well looking after a party of 14, delicious food, amazing service and our own private room, bonus.
Food was ok, portion size was a little small, staff didn’t appear to know what they were doing and kept apologising, part of the order didn’t come out and we had to ask for it. That said, I’d possibly eat here again, as it could just be a one off, and I’m always ready to give a place another try.
Staff excellent treated well from the minute we arrived to when we left . food good would recommend if your local or not
Nice setting, tables well spaced, cosy log fire. very helpful and friendly staff. good wine list. menu offered rather few choices but there was some nice local produce included. We found the food rather underwhelming. Nothing actually wrong with it, just not particularly delicious or exciting. Because of that it seemed rather expensive. Given all the other good choices we probably won't go back. a shame, as we thought the waiting staff were very charming and helpful
Service was great food not bad but personally I don't like piled up on the plate I like to see what I am eating.the waiter was very helpful .
Have had better value for money elsewhere.
Very organised and good food. We shall be visiting again!
Five of our family had lunch at 'The Fox' last Thursday. The waiter was courteous and friendly without being over-powering. Sorry couldn't sample the dessert menu as, unfortunately, some of the party had another appointment, so we ran out of time. The food was very good - compliments to the chef - thank you.
Lovely venue, good menu, the sausage and mash I chose had the tastiest sausages I’ve ever eaten, and delicious creamy mash. The seating was comfortable, not too close to the next table, and the room was warm and cosy. The staff were friendly and quietly efficient. Enjoyable experience.
Lovely Sunday roast, will definitely be returning!
I chose four stars because for the Sunday roast the Fox only supply beef gravy for the chicken and pork , which is poor because some of us don’t want to eat beef at all . May be they should do an alternative gravy for the other meats too !!
Had lunch on Monday at 'The Fox' with friends. We all had ham, egg and chips, followed by dessert. The chips were beautifully cooked as were the eggs. Absolutely, no cause for grumbles!
