About
Our menu is an expression of our local food culture and a showcase of the region’s best produce. Our menu uses local and seasonal ingredients wherever possible, prepared sensitively and skilfully by our chefs. This includes seafood from our reliable high quality supplier, meat from nearby farms and locally shot game, which features prominently during the season. Alongside favourite British dishes, you’ll find more innovative flavours, as well as a discernible Asian influence.
In addition to our main menu, our specials board is updated daily to take advantage of the very freshest seasonal produce from around the area.
Saturday - Sunday: 12:00 - 21:30
This has to be one of those over rated so called gems. The view from the front is great. The beer garden in the back is basic. The service was ok but the food was a disappointment. Several desirable dishes weren't available. My fish wasn't cooked properly and my wife's meat dish, while tasty was almost devoid of meat!
Booked for Monday evening, so it was quiet, which was just as well because there were only 2 serving, one for the bar and one for meals.
The food was very good, with a selection of dishes to suit all tastes. We had a starter and main course, having no room for a dessert. All 4 of us enjoyed the food. Wine was ok, but at restaurant prices, it should be.
Price for 4 was high average, ut we enjoyed our evening, so it was worth it.
We enjoyed our lunch (scampi and chips for me, salted beef sandwich and chips for my husband) very much. Sitting in the slight shade of a tree, on a beautiful sunny bank holiday afternoon, close to the River Windrush. The quintessential English pub lunch.
Friendly staff, but food was not good and very expensive. Definitely will not return
We were shown to a table and felt immediately welcome.
Service was good and time was allowed to choose from the menu with no pressure. Very polite.
The food was hot, presented well and tasty. The portions were big.
We had Roast dinners- lamb and beef and these were thoroughly enjoyed.
Desserts were scrummy and finished the meal well.
Overall, we had a good time and we look forward to the next time.
Lovely Pub in a delightful Cotswold village. Generous portions of sunday roast - leave room for the Bread & Butter puddinng - my mum is still raving about that!
Enjoyed our afternoon out and with the food and drink to finish it all off. It made a wonderful evening more enjoyable with the food and quiet atmosphere here at the fox inn.
Wonderful Sunday lunch, we all had the Sunday Roast which was as good as ever with plenty of Veggies to go with the meat, no room for pudding. Ate in the Bar area as the dinning area near to the River was full of Children which meant it was very noisy. Staff looked after us very well so no complaints
Been to the Fox a few times whilst staying in a local barn with inlaws. Lovely food and atmosphere as always! Highly recommended.
Had booked for 4 on Sat night before Christmas, then phoned to increase number to 5 with some trepidation but need not have worried as we were the only customers there!
Undrinkable first pint of cask ale was changed with no trouble and we had 5 mains and 4 desserts
lady staff member spent quite a lot of time working on a laptop on the bar alongside us
Completely devoid of atmosphere due to lack of customers but we were sat by the fire which was very welcoming
Service was good as one would expect, food was ok but very overpriced for a country inn
Lovely spot after a walk and very welcoming log fire. Staff very helpful and friendly and food lovely. A little gem
Quaint country pub with a good selection of beers and tempting blackboard menu. The oysters were particularly good. The roaring fire is a welcoming sight now the dark nights are upon us.
We have been to this pub many times over the years when passing through Burford. The food never fails to impress all year round whether Sunday lunch, lunch time snack or dinner. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere. A lovely friendly country pub with excellent food.
First time at this pub on Bank holiday Monday,
Bands were playing, sun was out, and the food was outstanding!
Will definitely be going back, Food is a bit pricey however very tasty!
We will return very soon x
This is not a gastro pub. The title allows the Fox to charge £15 for fish and chips.
We went as a party of 6 from 80 years old to 5 to have lunch before a visit to the circus. We enjoyed what we had, but thought it was really too expensive. It was a Sunday, so the regular pub menu I had looked up on line didn't seem to apply. Really lovely setting
Booked a table here for dinner before seeing a circus event down the road. On arriving we were told that as there's only two of us they would put us in the bar area, as they wanted to 'save their restaurant tables for more people'. From the outset this didn't make us particularly feel valued or glad to have booked a table in advance. As there was only one other couple and us eating in the bar (surrounded by people and dogs standing around drinking) we were essentially forgotten about by the waiting staff who were attending to people down in the restaurant area. Very slow, and not particularly friendly service (45 minutes after finishing our mains the plates were still on the table and nobody asked if we wanted desert or more drinks etc). Ordered two pints of coke, both came only about 4/5 full each time - glad I didn't order beer here! The food was 'ok', but more expensive than it deserved to be. Ie, very average good from a laminated menu, at Gastropub prices. Overall it was only just ok, and very underwhelming.
Food was quite good. Service was average, not very friendly. Place really needs updating, cleaning, money spent on it.
Lunchtime visit - 45 minutes and no show of food the waitress confirmed she had left the order in the bar. She was not particularly apologetic. Food was over priced for quality. Gastric pub prices but definitely average pub grub quality. We won't be back.
We cancelled the dinner and didn't go there at all
Really enjoyed our meal out with family. Staff very friendly, good lunchtime atmosphere and great food.
Prices more like a medium / high end restaurant but food and service did not really come up to that mark.
Good country pub with nice atmosphere, friendly staff but on pricy side.
