The Fox Inn
We had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Fox. The children and I had roast beef which was perfectly cooked and my husband had roast pork which was also delicious. The portion sizes were generous too. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the place itself was cozy. Would highly recommend.
Great Sunday lunch etc.
However I did feel that there was a ‘pack them in’ attitude - tables were not as far apart as should be given the current situation, altho’ staff & customers were behaving correctly
Moules starter was great but service was quite slow for the mains (took almost an hour to serve)!
Really good local pub/restaurant. Excellent food and good and very friendly service and very good atmosphere. Would definitely go again😁
Great ambience, good food and wine selection and the best part was the service. Our waiter was very welcoming, knowledgeable and pleasant.
Always has been and continues to be my favourite pub in Cotswolds. Food is tasty, hearty and good value with attentive friendly staff. Wish I could go more often!
Was excellent . Great welcome for owner
Definitely be back
Living up to its reputation. Busy, busy but a lovely experience
Had a very enjoyable lunch here. Enjoyed the best cheese soufflé and sticky Toffee pud and my husband enjoyed the fish & chips. Definitely will return if visiting area again.
On a short break we were recommended the Fox - lovely cozy pub and warmly greeted. Food was lovely and served in a reasonable time - however we had to wait ages to get the bill (over 20 mins) so this was the only negative !
Excellent food and service in a very comfortable pub/restaurant. Needs to be warmed up a little in the cold weather but overall a very good meal.
Our first visit and it did not disappoint. The service we received was very good, the food was excellent and a couple of dishes we had one a starter and one a dessert were outstanding. I have already booked to return.
Excellent and attentive service made for a most pleasurable experience. Excellent food.
In the current climate I would not recommend this place. Having spent a week in the Cotswold on a break this was the only place which did not have a track or trace sign in, either via the app or by noting names.
It may be that this is done via the booking system, however this was not made clear and we were there earlier then our booking and could therefore not be informed at the correct time.
We were also moved tables twice, understandable once given we were early, and the tables were not wiped down for the people we were moved for after we had moved. We are perfectly healthy, but in the current climate we did not feel this was good enough.
Dear Guest, Thank you for reviewing your experience with us. We have two track and trace systems, the first one is on the menu highlighted and we have the NHS' Qr code in every different room of the Fox. Indeed you had booked at 2.30 and when you arrived at 1.15 we were willing to accommodate you even if we were busy as the weather was not great. We offered you Champagne for your lunch to apologise for moving you from a table to another. Your review comes very cruel. Best Regards Thom
We love the fox! It’s our local pub and the service is the best around, closely followed by the food. Thanks to Thomas, Sam and the team for another lovely rainy Saturday!
Another excellent meal at the Fox Inn. The food was as good as ever; the service was wonderful and friendly notwithstanding the social distancing and masks etc.
Add to that the best C-19 precautions at any restaurant i have yet been too...
The food is always great here - their soups are to die for - great barometer of a good cook. We had sweet potato and lentil soup which was sublime and then the leek and cheddar tart - so light and flaky - tasted like proper homemade food. Great flavours served by friendly welcoming staff - we will be back
I lovely country pub and great food. Staff were lovely
A lovely old pub, well presented and updated to allow for Covid restrictions
Sunday lunch was generally good but Beef a bit tough and over cooked. It’s normally rare. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Generally a good place for Sunday lunch
The fox used to be a slightly dressed up pub which felt glamour outs and special - very chef lead menu with top ingredients. The menu is now serviceable rather than special though the twice cooked soufflé was delish - large and very cheesy. But salmon was overcooked , no advertised samphire which was replaced by spinach. Fish as in fish and chips was fine but the chips out of a catering pack rather than hand sliced. The service was jolly and friendly but somehow the whole place was a bit run down and scruffy. No style so as to speak off. So if you want a serviceable place it’s fine but not special any more alas
Dear Maxwell, The Fox is a country village pub, a public house, where you can have a pint, a bowl of soup or a three course meal. Open to everyone, every budget, as should be a village pub. Sorry for the disappointment and the lack of glamour. We are willing to offer you a refund for the spinach instead of the Samphire. I did not hear the head chef telling me about the Samphire missing. I did offer some champagne to your wife, i wish you had mention this on your review. Best regards Thom
Great value birthday dinner. Highlights were cheese soufflé, pork belly, duck confit & chocolate cremeux. Pint of Hooky ale also went down very nicely!
Very nice staff, food excellent, tasteful decor in a very pretty village.
Having dined here before Covid and since, several times, we have always found The Fox to be worth the effort. Excellent service, excellent food and excellent atmosphere ... perfect for all occasions, high is why they are always busy.
We always enjoy our meals at The Fox - the perfect mix of great food, friendly service and wonderful ambiance. And, what’s more, we have felt very safe with all the attention to Covid regulations.
Wonderful food and excellent service. The suggestion of the cheese soufflé was a great recommendation.
Lovely pub. fabulous food. Great host. Shame not open every day all day thanks
Brilliant - even the current covid provisions were well managed. We will return soon. Thanks to Thomas and all his colleagues at the Fox.
John and Linda
Only complaint was service a bit slow- they were very busy!
The service and food was extremely good. We were lucky enough to enjoy one of the last hot days in the garden. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely will be back.
Great food and a perfect setting, good social distancing measures.
Met friends. Sat in the sunshine and had an amazing lunch.
Service was wonderful as was the food.
The Fox never fails to impress.
Lovely little village. Food was excellent but service was slow. This didn't worry us because we had plenty of time.We will certainly go again next time we are in that area.
Wonderful lunch in the sunny courtyard
We booked a table here for Sunday lunch. The starters were amazing and that just set the scene. The mains were also outstanding. Cooked to perfection. The service was superb. This pub (the cooking was to a high restaurant service) deserves to be successful.
Pretty poor I’m afraid, service terrible, totally unaware of the customer. Food acceptable but not great. Stuck to a main course and left.
An evening spoilt
A good meal however I was a little disappointed with the menu. There were not very many imaginative dishes available unlike the sample menu.
It was our first visit to the Fox. It had been recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. We will certainly be going again.
Waited a long time to be served. Starter very good main course totally messed up partner got main (pork) tough veg cold. My main never arrived So left
The service was only a bit slow as there were fewer staff at work that day. Otherwise the food, being in the garden and the staff serving were all lovely. Have already recommended it to friends and would love to go back soon . Thank you
Excellent meal with great service. Will come back!!!
