The Fox Inn
My first time at The Fox Inn with my wife. We fancied somewhere different so booked our evening meal for 8:30. Fantastic food, cooked to perfection, very warm welcoming staff from the bar right through to the kitchen staff. Would definitely recommend The Fox Inn. San Miguel on tap too... Bonus :)
As ever enjoyed a lovely meal with a frien. We were seated in the conservatory which was a little chilly re the sudden change in the weather. Asked to move but log burner quickly lit and room warmed up in no time. Fabulous service. Thank you
Found the food really good service was outstanding. All ways willing to top up your drinks. No noise very quiet and lovely people in there no noisey crowds while eating
Will deffo be going again very soon me and my partner had a fantastic night
Well done to all the staff food was out this world 😁
We love The Fox and have been coming for over 25 years now.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary the other night with family members.
We were given a table that we felt really squashed in. It was no good asking
to be moved because it was packed, otherwise a good night.
We have been before and had an all round good experience. This time the service was very poor, with not taking our order to getting the bill. It needed somebody in charge of the staff.
The food was very good and would try again.
Had a great evening with the hubby at The Fox. The service was very good, at the bar and at the table
Looking at the menu my hubby thought it was basic but when he had his food ,he said it was the best fish and chips he ever tasted! Was good food. Thank you to Stefan for our complimentary white wine, a lovely gesture. Definitely go again to try the pizzas outside!
Staff were all lovely. Food was great and i will definitely return!
It was a toss up between the Roe-Deer and yourselves after visiting both the wife thought yourselves where friendlier, and she was proved right. Steak great. We shall see you again.
They took one and a half hours to bring our main courses, saying that they’d got a function in the back room.I’d booked the table well in advance, and we were put in a dark part of the pub next to a very roudy table of men.Poor show.
Service in my book very slow, 40 to get main course no starter selected!
Poor vegatables, only one bowl of peas to share between two!!
What a gem of a place. Acknowledge as soon as we walked in. Shown to our table even though we were early and not all of our party had arrived.
Sunday lunch menu definitely a cut above the rest.
Nice bit of friendly banter with the owners dad. Very funny man.
Lady serving us was lovely very attentive without being annoying.
Clean plates all round.
Will definitely be back.
Food okay. We had the special which was swimming in butter and although it said it was on a bed of asparagus this came separately again drenched in butter!
A lovely setting with lovely food the only problem we found was there was not a children's menu or the choice of smaller portions from the main menu so made it difficult with children.
This was a first visit for a meal at the Fox Inn, although we had visited previously for drinks.
The waiting staff seemed efficient, although the wait for our meals to arrive did seem a little excessive, even taking into account the fact that everything was freshly cooked. The food was very well presented and full of flavour.
The menu was slightly limited for choice but was good value for the money paid.
Excellent food and a very warm welcome. Would thoroughly recommend.
Another great meal at The Fox. Food, great value for money and always cooked to a high standard. One criticism, vegetables were overcooked, and expensive at £4.50. Otherwise, all great and we will return soon.
The food and service were very good. The issue we had was the high table and high chairs/stools that had been reserved for us. They were uncomfortable but we were told there was no other table free so we had to put up with them. By the time we had our desserts the table below us was free so we moved to that. I would recommend The Fox but would advise anyone booking to check what sort of table they will have as the high ones may look trendy but are not comfortable or suitable for everyone.
Lovely place went for Sunday lunch really good quality of food the meat combo was lovely staff are good too lovely country pub
Bar service was good but It was quite a while before anyone welcomed us from the waiting team. Our starters were excellent. Prawns in garlic sauce and lamb lollipops. There was quite a while between courses. Fish and chips were good but the scallops although plentiful took a long time to eat and were quite cold at the end. I know a wedding was on in the other room so that could account for the service.
We had a lovely evening though.
As always The Fox delivers on great food, service, quality and ambiance. Would not hesitate in recommending The Fox for a meal out or during the summer months just to have a drink in the garden area. Excellent.
Lovely food as always and service is great . Would recommend the Fox for any occasion.
It was our first visit to the Fox as we have only recently moved the area. We were amazed by the food and the service and such a gorgeous location. We have already recommended to friends and we will be returning.
Good choice of food. Well cooked and presented. Didn't realise it wasn't all day food so will remember to book an earlier time for lunch when we go next.
First time I’ve been to this little gem it won’t be the last. Booked in for a Sunday lunch time and my partner and myself had three excellent courses. I’d highly recommend the three meat roast dinner with all the trimmings. We had a lovely relaxed meal, the waitresses were very attentive but not pushy or intrusive. The food and wine was excellent as was the value. Thanks to all the staff at the Fox, I look forward to returning.
Nice Food and pleasant staff, but we waited 1.00 for the starter after ordering and then 1.30 hours for the main. One of our party don't have a starter so she waited 1.30 hours for food. Spoilt our evening
It was a shame as the food is always nice however, service was appalling and the girls had a really can’t be bothered attitude and would look at you and almost pretend they hadn’t seen you. For the price it was reasonable and it was lovely food. However, they had ran out of most things such as fries and didn’t inform you until the last minute they had. Wouldn’t rush back in a hurry.
Very busy took some time to be allocated a table even though had booked some weeks ahead. However staff were attentive and polite and working very hard as was busy so more staff needed!
Best Sunday lunch in the area so I will be going back for more!
Staff were pleasant enough but service was very slow. We sat for 12.45pm Sunday lunch which took 45 mins to arrive... not ideal when you have a toddler to keep entertained. Having said that, we took colouring things for him to keep him entertained and he was very good. Many other establishments provide things to keep kids occupied but nothing was offered. We don’t assume there will be such things that’s why we take our own but it might be a nice touch for you to think of providing in the future for younger diners. Also we had to ask twice for a simple glass of water.
The Roast beef was said to be cooked rare unless we preferred it cooked longer. My husband would be happy with rare but in our opinion, the beef wasn’t even cooked to that degree.
The Vegetarian options were poor. Who really wants a curry for Sunday lunch? Ended up asking for another option & ended up with a simple vegetarian burger & chips which seemed rather overpriced at £11.00 and was nothing special. Could your chefs not provide a vegetarian Sunday lunch? Just because vegetarians don’t want the meat component of a Sunday lunch doesn’t mean we don’t like a gravy dinner full stop.
The Child portion of food was however very good and we felt it was good value.
We also liked being able to book our table online.
Sadly, would not visit again or recommend, sorry.
Good menu selection.Quality was first class and service excellent...highly recommended
Myself and my husband visit every couple of weeks for lunch always a warm friendly welcome staff are always helpful and food is excellent neither of us have ever had cause to complain . Wonderful place we will be here again this week !
From the fabulously warm welcome, the attentive service and the very thoughtful celebratory bottle of Prosecco our evening was perfect from start to finish.
I haven't been to the Fox for a number of years and found it rather tired. The staff were a little slow and when asked questions like what is the soup, or what lagers do you have they had to keep checking this of course could have been lack of training and inadequate number of serving staff. That said, the food was excellent, it was probably the best meal out I have had in a long time.
Dined here several times and always enjoyed the experience. Hope to be back soon and would have no reservations about recommending on every level.
Staff really friendly, dining room comfortable, food delicious, will certainly go again!
Came for lunch on Easter Monday. Limited bank holiday menus but a good choice all the same. My husband and son in law had the rib eye and they wolfed it down. My daughter and I had the very tasty burger. Food was hot and very tasty. We received th3 wrong bill but it was soon put right. Thank you for a lovely meal served by happy staff.
Great food and service......highly recommended!
Food was good, service was excellent, food was pricey for what you got.
Fantastic food great service would highly recommend
Great Sunday lunch with friends. Service was a little slow to start but the food and wine were good.
