Open 7 days a week for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and with free WiFi, The Gables is a popular all-day meeting place. Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays is simply buzzing with life and a big hit with families.
Dinner transforms the atmosphere to one of casual elegance featuring fresh fish, lamb, pork, chicken, aged beef and venison. All are cooked to perfection with a Mediterranean twist to create a feast for the eyes and nourishment for the soul by head chef Simon Williams.
Great food and very efficient friendly service. Fabulous wine list at very acceptable prices.
Great restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner , and even in betweens.
The only complaint I would have was that the staff were nearly too attentive. I felt like they were hovering around waiting for me to take the last forkful of food so they could clear my plate away but we had a lovely evening in general.
Very limited menu - quite dated. Nice staff.
Would like to see more interesting options. Restaurant is quite dated and could do with a makeover
Great brunch, delicious food and amazing service
Always enjoy visiting for the lovely food, friendly staff and good value,
Look forward to the next visit.
Very enjoyable lunch , lovely food , friendly staff , no complaints..
A most enjoyable evening at the Gables. The staff were welcoming and friendly. It was lovely 😊
You were a little short of non alcoholic drink options ie wine with low alcohol content.
Mid week dinner with friends. Lovely meal tempura cod, chips, mushy peas. Salad with avocado, pomegranate, broccoli gratin. All delicious. Service friendly. No rush to vacate. Would eat here definitely again.
Bread did not taste like todays bread today. Spoiled the smoke salmon dish
We had a delicious meal with the family on Saturday evening. 2 adults and two children. Great value for money and everyone enjoyed themselves. Will come again.
Only complaint would be that the toilets need a good scrub from top to bottom.
Lovely spot and great food. Good for both business and social meets.
Scratched scuffed table top, wine ordered not served, main course portion very small, asked for no peas, got them, not asked if we’d like dessert, very poor overall, wont be back.
Very disappointed to read this. We do work very hard to make The Gables a pleasant experience and our overall star rating of 4.1 reflects this, but clearly in your case we fell down here. This is certainly a bit of a kick in the teeth and we will have to try harder. Jim PS. We are doing some upgrading and table respraying is on the list! Please come back soon and see the difference.
Nothing to fault what so ever! Very tasty food, friendly staff and just a lovely spot for brunch
Dissapointed with the range on the Menu, seems quite limited and "standard type fare".. Service was initially good but slow with side orders and they forgot to take our desert order for 15 mins, at lunchtime when they were not that busy. so unfortunately dissapointing as its a great location and nice setting and layout inside
Hello Eamon. Disappointed to read this. With our new Head Chef we are gradually changing the menu so I hope you come back for another visit. Jim
We love the Gables and regularly dine here for a quick breakfast coffee or a family dinner, the menu is nice and good kids choices too.
Lovely restaurant in the heart of Foxrock Co.Dublin. Lovely food and good service. Comfortable and nice ambiance. Great wines!
Food was fab, staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. The red wine was to die for but pricey at €10.50 a glass for the rioja.
Overall great night out and we will definitely be returning.
Have been here numerous times and really enjoy the food.
Carrot and coriander soup is like magnolia paint, so boring, dated and unimaginative. The chicken wrap was nothing special, tasteless, didn't know what I was eating.
The staff were inattentive and indifferent. The restaurant is shabby. Battered and torn leather seating. Scratched and battered tables making them look like they haven't been cleaned. Sorry I didn't take photos of that! Clearly no updating done since the day it opened many years ago. It's not a cheap restaurant, they need to put some money into all-round improvements. I won't be back!
very slow service. Was 5 minutes early for reservation, but we were told that our reservation wasn't until 11:30 and we'd have to wait. Don't mind waiting, do mind being told what time reservation was booked for as if we'd arrived 2 hours early and this was an issue. Service very slow to take order. Food came out worringly quick. Were told coffee would take a while 'because the barista was busy'...? had to ask for water.
It's a great venue and always has been, staff etc are great. Main courses were disappointing.
Very pleasant venue for Sunday lunch. Service a bit slow. Food delicious but portions of beef cheek surprisingly small. Sticky toffee pudding - extra sauce supplied when we asked!
The experience was OK! We were close to the kitchen pass, and when the back door was open there was a terrible draft.
They ran out of coffee cups and we had to have our 2nd coffees in takeaway cups!!
We weren't rushed which was gf rear, but when we asked for extra water or another coffee the service was slow. Disappointing overall
Love going to the Gables either for a quick coffee and a snack or dinner with family and friends. Always enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Staff are top notch too which always makes the whole experience all the more pleasant!
Lovely atmosphere, will go back again and again
Louise and her team looked after us really well - thank you and a very happy New Year
Food decent but service very poor. We weren't even offered a drink.
A great local choice ..... we love The Gables & their G&T glasses are cool ..... the ones with the gold rim x
We were very disappointed about our 1st visit, the food was below average level, personnel were not wearing uniform, the place from outside looks more beautiful than it is inside, and the value of the food didn't correspond to its quality.
Took way too long to get a waiter and ended up getting our own menus from the front desk
The Gables paid perfect host to our party of 9 people for a week-day lunch celebration, food was prompt and staff/ ambience was lovely! HAd a lovely table near the glass entrance. Staff were attentive but non-intrusive. Always come here for special work/personal occasions and the Gables never fails to impress! Menu is varied and always delicious!! Highly recommend!
Disappointed with food especially the fish dish which was obviously left under heater too long. No sides came with main courses.
The Gables Restaurant is a family favourite and the centre of the community here in Foxrock. The food is consistently good and the staff are so friendly and polite. Highly recommended.
Man who greeted us and seated us was initially rude although he at least tried to claw back on his mistake (over tables). Server was very nice and professional. The decor needs updating. The cups are wrecked and the black colour is chipped all over making them look really grubby.
Three of us had brunch recently. Great choice, great service and good value. Will definitely be returning.
Well done The Gables.
A lovely Sunday brunch with the family! Very comfortable place and the staff are always welcoming. Love the coffee here!
The Gables is an excellent venue for a casual lunch - it has a very nice menu in the sense that you would almost like to eat every dish that is available, the food quality and quality of cooking are of a high standard. We received excellent service - everything was done promptly and professionally. The prices are reasonable and in keeping with the quality of the product offering. The restaurant is warm and comfortable and has a good buzz of being busy but not annoyingly loud. There is plenty of metered parking a short distance away.
Good food, pleasant service and excellent value! Plus the coffee is great!
