We had a take out from Gaerwen Arms as it was a lockdown suprise the night before our booking.
The food was superb and we look forward to going there again but this time for a sit down meal.
Diolch yn fawr a Nadolig Llawen!
Found this little gem by accident and so happy we did ..it was quiet as they were closing at 6 pm .Food was excellent we had a Turkey dinner it was delicious, tender turkey with all the trimmings and I had a lemon meringue pie like no other, divine ..well done chef .Sadly while we were there Wales was put into tier four very sad for all concerned, here’s hoping it won’t be too long before they are open again and I have recommended to everyone I know . Thank you all so much .
Friendly staff, lovely food and had the best Christmas menu with lovely mocktails!
Lovely staff Christmas lunch, helpful and attentive staff. Thank you
A lovely place and excellent food, shame about the no alcohol rule, we will certainly return,
Great service with a lovely waitress. The food was so disappointing, dry, fatty turkey, tasteless potatoes, hardly any gravy, cauliflower cheese with no cheese.
After we were given mulled wine truffles. They were so good. Shame the rest of the food wasn't as good.
Lovely staff, warm, ambient, relaxed feel with plenty of space between tables. Amazing delicious food cooked perfectly. We had beef in the xmas menu and sticky toffee pud which was very delicious. A Little wait cause it was busy but oh so worth it. Highly reccomend this place.
Xmas lunch was very dry and not much gravy on our plates, the lady behind the bar could not cope with drinks orders. No need for the dish of pebbles with the sweet (hilarious 🤣), food overall was a disappointment.
It was very nice and quiet and understandably with the COVID restrictions was a lovely Meal. The surroundings were spotless and every care was taken to make the meal as special as could be possible. We had the Christmas menu. Will try it soon for the bar snacks xxxxx
Great service and fantastic food. Best Christmas dinner we’ve had to date!
Really enjoyed the Christmas Menu and felt it was very good value. We were a group of 4 and made different choices. Everybody very happy with their meal. We’ve considered feeling safe etc under present Covid restrictions in our ambience score- Very good.
We live locally and have visited a few times now and the staff are always very pleasant however we are disappointed that not one member of staff has spoken Welsh with us.
Excellent food & service every time we’ve been there.
As always this was fabulous food, a gêm of a place.
Very god value for money. Excellent service, friendly staff.
We love Gaerwen Arms, always lovely food and the staff so friendly. It was a shame it was so quiet but not their fault!
Good thank you
Best meal out in ages! Lovely menu, but not too vast. Great food from starter to dessert. Would highly recommend
We had our first Christmas lunch this week at The Gaerwen Arms and it did not disappoint. The quality of the ingredients they use are local and fresh and you always know you are going to get top notch food here.
Over priced for what you get. We paid £40 for two of us for a very poor quality Sunday lunch. We dine out every Sunday for lunch and always have roast dinners and this was the most expensive, with the poorest quality we have experienced across the a North Wales area.
We were attracted by the previous reviews claiming how good the food was, but our meal was way off the mark as acceptable. For example, my roast lamb was full of inedible fat and gristle on two out of the three slices sent out by the kitchen/chefs. We were told that if we reordered to expect the same!
My wife had already finished her meal before my substitute of roast beef was delivered.
You expect at this price the food to be tasty, but both cuts of meat lamb and beef were lacking in flavour and so to were the roast potatoes and the limited veg that was served to the table. Suggest the chefs are checked for what they plate as this totally ruined the meal and despite the staffs excellent service, it’s the poor quality of meat and lack of flavour on the plate that led to the low score of the meal, but not for service as the waitress was excellent in handling the problem.
Second visit and throughly enjoyed again. Went for Sunday lunch - my son had the lamb and said it was beautiful. I had the sirloin of beef. I can honestly say I've never had beef like it. Served pink and just melted in the mouth. Divine
Great food was so tasty, the girls that served us were amazing from when we entered to when we left, this is a really nice restaurant which I will return to soon
Food outstanding but the service is painfully slow.
We went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch, the premises are lovely and the view in excellent, of snowdonia from 2 sides of the restaurant.
The starters were fabulous, so was my dessert, the mains were both not hot enough, so after a quick word, this was sorted out with no fuss and the fresh meals (lamb and vegetarian) were both served piping hot.
Would we go again, we most certainly would, a recommendation.
Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend and worth the hype. Thank you
Great food (fish and chips) at the Gaerwen Arms again. Really friendly staff and good food.
A bit expensive for lunch but great pub. Need to visit the restaurant.
Food is superb but could do with nicer salad other than just lettuce and less bread on the menu ❤️
Excellent venue, food and service and far far superior to the expected pub restaurant in an 'ordinary' town. The portions looked small on the plate but were actually very substantial.
Very accessible off A55 and only a few minutes from the mainland.
Extremely good and thoughtful dishes . All four of us were very impressed .
Quiet understandably so but food good. Weekday lunch time
Service impeccable. Food delicious and different. Well worth a visit.
The beef roast dinner was just amazing. Me and my boyfriend went for a lovely roast and we got so much more than that. The sourdough bread was amazing as well as their cocktails
Fabulous meal. The three of us had lamb and it was cooked to perfection. Plenty of vegetables that were all delicious. All staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Looking forward to our next visit.
It's such a treat to eat out at The Gaerwen Arms, I'm a big fan and recommend all my friends to go.
Excellent food and service, could not be faulted, through our own choice we adjourned to the bar after the meal which was slightly loud as it is an open bar, however that was our choice and did not detract from the evening at all.
Was clean tidy and COVID secure which is a plus. The major downside was the portion sizes unfortunately especially considering the price, meals above average price so, would have expected a decent size meal. Ordered 2 adult meals and 2 kids meals... the kids meals literally came with 3 chips each which is no exaggeration unfortunately and one of the main meals was also an extremely small portion. Kids were still hungry leaving.
Great friendly welcome. The food was amazing I had the tofu dish my friend had the steak we were both very pleased we then had the pebble dessert very well presented and delicious.
The gaerwan arms just made my stay in Anglesey so memorable and enjoyable! Food and service was impeccable. We are even considering driving up to wales just for a Sunday roast, the beef just melts in your mouth....
Best meal we have had for a long time and we will be returning very soon. My only comment is that because of the acoustics the bar area was a little noisy. All Covid precautions are taken and appreciated.
Good choice, good value and would definitely go again.
