Really nice experience , service was lovely ! Definitely will go back in the future
Everything was 100%
Some louder background music would have made it that much better 🙏🏼
First visit to Game Bird, as many of our usually haunts were sadly still closed for mid-week lunch and perhaps unfairly I tend to avoid hotel restaurants. However, it was the perfect choice and I wished I’d visited years ago!
The place blends being classy in traditional way with a relaxed atmosphere and the service was exemplary while being genuinely warm and friendly way. The team also made excellent wine list recommendations. Food was first class too, both Game and other classic dishes.
Also nice to be able to retire to the American bar after with a lovely outside court yard.
Wonderful location, excellent service. Food well cooked and presented. Plenty of room between tables and hence COVID secure but still a great atmosphere.
Excellent as always. My favourite Sunday lunch.
Always a pleasure
The Service by ALL the staff was Impeccable and of the very highest global standards. The food and wine were excellent.
Wonderful beef wellington, excellent service.
Decent reopening of this site; good Mayfair/St James’s vibe albeit with price to match; good game options and overall quality food
The game menu is a bit conservative, in range and cooking style. The crab as a starter was spot on. Breads were good. The stuffed partridge was less then tender. In such a classy place, setting to by hand to pick off the remainder did not seem on. Nice touch offering the leather bib to wear when first cutting the chicken Kiev, protection against hot butter splatter. Otherwise although plenty of butter, it failed to deliver a strong garlic hit. And on its own the chicken proved a bit dry, not helped by the coating. The venison wellington, not chosen but seen, looked the job and although listed form two persons I guess would don nearer four with some added veg etc. Also service was a tad slow, it was attentive. Wine by the glass although expensive was good.
Excellent food and service.Exceptional service from Master Sommelier Mr Gino Nardella in both food and Beverage
The luncheon was enjoyable and the venison cooked to perfection. The wine was delicious but the list could have benefited from a bit more variety at a reasonably price.
Fabulous lunch in the Game Bird. Food was delicious, the market menu is excellent value. Really comfortable ambiance, service friendly and helpful.
An absolutely fabulous meal. The dining room is beautifully appointed, not too noisy, food was outstanding and sommelier really knows his stuff! Highly recommended
Top as always
My PA pre-booked a particularly quite table as I was entertaining a client and would be talking sensitive financial issues. Unfortunately, the table I had booked had been granted to somebody else which resulted in me not being able to discuss deal with the matters we had hoped. My PA made contact with the restaurant well in advance of my arrival to arrange for a good bottle of wine to be opened well in advance of my arrival to ensure it had time to breath. We had pre-lunch drinks and presented with the menu and wine list. I explained my PA had already arranged for a bottle of wine to be opened. Thirty minutes later, when at the table i was asked if I would like to order wine! I again explained the situation only to be told that they had no trace of the pre-order. After the meal I was informed that the email requesting the wine had been received and had been overlooked!
Following the meal we asked if we could retire to the American Bar for cocktails to be told that it was full and we must sit in the lounge area next to the restaurant. Despite this, I walked to the American bar and asked if they had room for two people and was told yes!!!
I have been coming to this restaurant for over ten years now and must say, sadly the standards have dropped.
We were really looking forward to coming and it didn’t disappoint. Plush without being flashy decor. Lots of round tables so few people have their backs to the restaurant. Menu traditional as you would expect superbly executed by very knowledgable staff. Broad in-depth wine list and delicious food, can’t wait to return
We were remembered by name even though we hadn’t been there for a year. The place is perfect, as is the hotel, in my opinion, in London.
I've been to the Game Bird before on a trip to London. I enjoyed the lunch on both occasions; the food is excellent, the service prompt and friendly, but unobtrusive, and the surroundings elegant.
Very high quality English fare. The Steak and Kidney
Pudding was exceptional as was the pigeon. Excellent service.
Comfortable restaurant Food snd Service as expected in this price category
Really enjoyed the classic food - dressed crab, chicken kiev, baked Alaska. Delicious.
We came not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised with the food! Everything was well-prepared and were tasty. Starting from the various array of oysters, followed by the salmons and finished with the mains. Overall, I will come back for more the next time in London
Really attentive staff and a really high quality Sunday lunch.
Go. Eat here, as often as you can.
The menu is exciting, the food is brilliant, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance is splendid.
At least one person at your table should order the eponymous dish, “The Game Bird.” The wood pigeon is astoundingly good. The grouse was also phenomenal. As an appetizer, you won’t be disappointed by the oysters Rockefeller.
Restaurant staff would benefit from Additional support
Great ambiance, broad menu
Staff attentive & my husband was especially impressed with his crepe Suzette cooked at our table
We celebrated with our twin boys and one of the boys girlfriend. Everything was fantastic!
Overall a lovely meal, with the benefit of the American bar before hand. The food was good to very good and the service exceptional. The only negative was that we seemed to be the only party which seemed strange.
Great tasting food, main menu has mainly fish and meat options but there is a vegetarian/vegan menu available too. Massive wine selection £45 to £500+, smoked fish prepared at the table, really good main course selection and possibly the highlight was Crepes Suzette prepared and served table-side. The service was excellent. A really good find and hope to return for a Sunday roast!
Once again superb second visit with four days. Excellent Sunday Roast excellent cut of meat.
Great table side service. Wonderful serving table side of Dover sole. Intimate setting.
When we arrived & were settled at our table, we were offered the champagne option with our afternoon tea. We were also given a cup of a green tea mixture to settle our digestion before we began to eat. The sandwiches were fresh & well filled. The scones & cakes were delicious & unusual. The restaurant had a very comfortable, unhurried feel to it. The staff were friendly & helpful but unobtrusive. We would definitely return again & recommend our experience to others.
I prefer not to write otherwise to many people and enjoy this hidden jem of a restaurant
On other note the manager show my oversea friends the cellar area they found it very interesting
and the visit was experience tops all other restaurants

It was a fun place to eat but leaves a lot to be desired. The American bar we went to before dinner was great fun. The restaurant has a sense of occasion which is great fun. But the food isn't that great sadly. My husband had the dressed crab and it was swimming in mayonnaise - he had to send it back. The smoked salmon was super. I had the chicken kiev which was a disappointment. My husband had a pie which was very decent. I wish they would top up the food and we could go more often because it was quite fun
Visited the American Bar first for cocktails before eating. Bartender very helpful in selecting drinks. Service was friendly and the food delicious - Lobster Mac and cheese - yum. So full up we didn’t make the dessert menu. Next time 😀
Great fan of Game bird Sunday lunch
However roast beef and Yorkshire pudding stone cold and gravy far too sharp tasting
Also issue with incorrect bill
However will return
The only negative thing about this restaurant is that it is quite small so that tables were near the bar which, fortunately was not very busy. The room is lovely and comfortable. The menu is varied and includes traditional English food as well as more modern selections. It even has a vegetarian menu. food is interesting , well-prepared, and attractively presented. The service was attentive and unobtrusive.
