The Garden Room at The Merrion Hotel
The Garden Room is open all day - for breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner, alone or with friends, family or colleagues.
Welcome to The Garden Room and to something different.
Wicker chairs and table for the bigger man are too uncomfortable. Oysters were great but at €4 each are twice the price of anywhere else. Mains were OK, the Sole was great but venison was average at best. Service was slow. Beautiful room and setting.
This was the perfect setting for a catch up with a friend who had just landed in Dublin for the weekend.
The service was impeccable, the food delicious and we were made to feel relaxed in a truely beautiful setting in the heart of Dublin City.
A phenomenally relaxing night with exquisite food, excellent service, and relaxed ambience. Our sincere thanks to all the staff who made the evening for us after a particularly stressful couple of weeks with work.
This was our second visit, alas the first didn’t quite go as planned; management and staff showed their exemplary customer service skills, making us feel welcomed; recognising our disappointment with our first visit. A glass of champagne each greeted us with compliments of the house. The starters were beautifully presented and well portioned, tasty but not overpowering before the main.
Mains were veal and a pasta seafood dish. The veal was cooked to perfection with a delightful garnish and sauce. Pasta was aplenty with an excellent helping of clams.
A light sorbet to cleanse and some sensual popcorn and chocolate tart for me and raspberry soufflé for my partner. Both deserts were portioned just right, presented with passion and divine.
All food was paired with an excellent and fruity white wine.
We cannot express our gratitude enough for this night and look forward to our next visit.
Absolutely loved it! From the food (the burger is simply the best I’ve tried in Dublin) to the service it was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. I genuinely can’t recommend this place enough! Go and enjoy. You won’t regret it
I brought Mum here for her 70th and she and I enjoyed every minute.
It felt really special. Nothing felt forced or false.. it felt warm and friendly in the beautiful Garden Room with a lovely view.
We both went for the vegan menu..which was wonderful and plentiful.
Especially the Eton mess was to die for..such lovely flavours throughout the whole experience.
My Mum enjoyed every minute.
We would highly recommend for somewhere really special.
Lovely setting, food and staff. Exactly what you’d expect from a 5 star hotel.
Fantastic food in a cosy sophisticated setting
Excellent reception by the very professional Fiona .
Great table and ambiance.
Food struggles to match the setting and excellent service.
Similar experience on last visit .
Food lacks flavour and attention to detail expected at these prices.
Very similar experience on last visit.
Amazing, excellent service and delicious food. Ambience was fabulous and the staff brilliant.
The food is not nice at all, I ordered filet stead, it was very dry and no taste.
My husband and I had lunch in The Garden Room last Sunday to celebrate our recent birthdays. Once again everything was absolutely outstanding. It was the first time to bring along our 8 month old son and it was such a good experience. The staff were outstanding! They gave us a perfect table by the window to accommodate our son’s buggy and allow him to amuse himself looking at the birds in the beautiful water feature in the garden. They also surprised him with a balloon which he just loved. We were so impressed with their kindness!
I had the pasta from the vegan menu which was just beautiful (I am not vegan), and my husband had the steak again which he said was perfect as per usual. Finally, even though we thought the experience couldn’t be improved upon, the glass of champagne each we had ordered was comped when the waitress heard we were celebrating our birthdays! Fab service, food, surroundings and people, well done The Garden Room. Thank you so much to all, we can’t wait to come back.
We went here for my dad’s 64th birthday. They gave him a special chocolate dessert with a happy birthday on it at the end of the night and he was really happy and surprised! Thanks for that guys!
The service was great. The staff checks on you if everything is going well throughout the night. Although once it gets busy, service gets a bit slower but we didn’t mind waiting.
The food was amazing! We didn’t get to try the starters but the mains and desserts were very tasty! Totally recommend to try the Fillet Mignon and Chocolate fondant!
Overall a 5 star experience for a 5 star venue and we will definitely be back again!
We had a great table overlooking the gardens. Food was amazing and service was second to none. We will definitely be back to The Garden Room.
We were a group of 8 ladies who enjoyed a delicious late lunch on a Friday in early March 2019. From our first glass of champagne, to a delicious glass of pink champagne with the amazing raspberry souffle to conclude, everything was superb. The dining room is elegant, spacious, bright but quiet. The service was attentive and excellent. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We felt spoiled! We will definitely be back: a superb way to spend a Friday afternoon and evening!
Excellent service, food delicious, and The Garden Room serving team is professional and welcoming and accommodating to patron!
Beautiful Room. Went for lunch. Just two courses and a glass of wine. veal and sea bream Both excellent. Not cheap but you are paying for 5 star quality.
The new Vegan menu is a great addition. Very enjoyable evening had by all.
Lovely night. Would certainly recommend it to friends.
Food was fantastic. Service great also. Will definitely be back.
The three course vegan menu was absolutely delicious, we really enjoyed it. The Merrion itself; a really relaxing and enjoyable atmostphere and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The view from the restaurant onto the garden is also fantastic. Thank you!
Lovely hotel. Garden room very nice environment for a relaxing meal. Price range on menu will suit everyone.
Thomas and his team provide the best experience. And the food as always is outstanding!!
Fabulous dining room and wonderful staff. Special mention for Alessandra who served our table and was exceptionally nice. Alessandra is an absolute credit to the Merrion Hotel. All staff lovely & special mention also to the lady who took our coats who was so, so nice. Glamorous dining room in what’s probably Dublin’s best hotel.
Stunning all round
Lovely setting for upmarket lunch. Beautiful views of gardens, staff attentive and food very high standard.
Went to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed. From the moment we arrived staff were so attentive and polite. Food was outstanding and delicious. Will return again soon. Would highly recommend.
The Garden Room is an excellent place for a quiet lunch.
Lunch was delicious
When we arrived the table we booked was occupied by diners who had overstayed the time allocated for use of the table. We were given complimentary glasses of sparkling wine and the waiting staff skillfully negotiated the release of the table.Service was excellent throughout the meal and the wine we chose was lovely.Unfortunately when we both ordered pork we discovered it was unavailable.I was also surprised that a restaurant in a 5 star hotel did not do daily specials. However the food we did order was excellent ,sea bream and filet mignon.Indeed the steak was one of the best I have ever had.Disappointly the chips that accompanied it looked and tasted like oven chips from a bag.No triple cooked chunky chips or anything like them. However that was the only complaint I had and overall an excellent meal in a pleasant environment with excellent service and worth the 102 Euro paid. Would definitely recommend.
The Garden Room is a truly lovely dining experience. The service was very professional and yet relaxed. Decor very welcoming, and comfortable. Food outstanding and they have an excellent vegan menu, it’s small but the dishes are Devine. This restaurant will be especially lovely in summer time because as the name suggest it opens up into a charming garden setting. It is without question one if my favorite go to restaurants in Dublin. It’s situated in one of Dublin’s top hotels, The Merrion , that boasts an outstanding art collection. I would suggest an aperitif in the hotel bar before dinner and soak in the atmosphere.
Once again, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the Garden Room Restaurant on Saturday last.
Alexandra and Frederika looked after us extremely well, always with good humour and excellent service. I chose the Venison which I would recommend - it was truly delicious.
We will be back to see you all again very soon I expect. Best regards - and thanks again to all the Garden Room team.
Beautiful dining room. Delightful Italian waitress. Excellent food extremely well presented. Superb wine and prosecco. Flawless.
Very nice room excellent sevice the food was disappointing and dod not match the rest of the product
The service was excellent, unfortunately the food took some time to come and the steak was not prime quality, a little tough. The French fries could have been more golden... it was more like an average pub dish. I expected just a little more finesse. The goat cheese starter on roasted beetroot was however very tasty.
It was great to see a Vegan menu at the Garden Room as one of our party is vegan and though I am not, I chose from this menu as I like to eat vegetarian occasionally but find that vegetarian offerings frequently feature cheese which I avoid for health reasons. I had the courgetti to start which was very nice if a little boring. The main of Shepherdless Pie was really delicious and the meat eaters enjoyed an excellent venison dish and one of pork too.
Vegan dessert of fruit crumble was not great but there was a delicious raspberry soufflé and coconut rice dessert which were both delicious.
With one bottle of wine, two beers, sparkling water and coffees the bill for four came to €238 before service. Not cheap but not bad for a 5* hotel restaurant. The service was excellent, friendly and discreet and the ambience lovely.
I would recommend for the vegan offerings and the lovely surroundings. The bistro like menu is large and you will be sure to find something to take your fancy.
We enjoyed lunch at The Garden Room whilst staying at The Merrion. Our party consisted of three children and a vegetarian. All were catered for as the menu was varied and appealing. What a refreshing change in comparison to other restaurants in the area. With its deco feel and eclectic art there is a distinctive classy ambiance created, that just works well.
Staff were attentive, patient and discreet. Our waitress was friendly and amazing as well as offered knowledge on their specified menu.
The restaurant has wheelchair access and welcomes families. We had plenty of time to select from the menu, and three courses to be delivered without feeling rushed, portions of food are generous. Excellent selection of oysters!
A wonderful experience and enjoyed by all. Highly recommended and would definitely stay at The Merrion and dine at The Garden Room.
I had the new vegan menu and it was absolutely gorgeous! Food was so tasty and just the right amount. It was lovely to enjoy vegan food in a really nice setting. Will definitely return.
We went to try out the new Vegan menu and were not disappointed. Really lovely and the Berry & Apple Crumble desert was amazing. Beautiful food and a lovely evening.
Beautiful dining room , very attentive staff, food good not outstanding. I loved the decor in this Garden room, gorgeous chairs and tables etc. food not memorable but fine
Amazing service as always
