Great place - friendly service, lovely food. I also much preferred this venue to The Gate in Angel which I have found to be rather unfriendly whenever I’ve been and now avoid. I would recommend and go back to The Gate Marylebone anytime!
The most delicious vegan desserts. Brilliant menu with lots of gluten free options aswell.
This will be my new regular restaurant to take my friends to.
Disapointed that they only offer a set menue for lunch. With 6 of us it lacked variety, otherwise, a wonderful experience.
As ever, The Gate offers an inventive menu which is beautifully presented. It is also surprisingly filling.
Innovative tasty dishes and attractive comfortable restaurant
Excellent food but disappointing service (30 min wait for main course & no checking as to whether we would like to order further drinks).
I was looking for a Vegan restaurant that looked like a regular (non wooden bench/hippy) place with great food and a bar, for a birthday treat for a family member. This was perfect. It has a lovely ambiance. One of my carnivorous group at the first mouthful of the Miso Glazed Aubergine looked up and said "wow! this is really nice"..and he wasn't wrong. The Red Thai Curry was gorgeous too. We were too full to sample the dessert menu. Will have to be next time. It's a really great place. I highly recommend.
Both me and my girlfriend has several digestion problems throughout the night. It is extremely likely that our malaise was caused by the food at the restaurant.
I've been a Gate fan for 25 years [ over its 3 locations and even the Belsize Park one that closed ] its always been in my view the best restaurant in London, I've spent birthdays, weddings and many other occasions there, we visited last Saturday and i have to say it was very poor, first of all the menu which is small no problem there but with two Thai dishes and two raw salads [ it was 2 degrees outside and why two Thai dishes ] i ended up with the Mexican option not something i would of picked but with the knowledge that these guys work magic in the taste dept. well they certainly didn't this time first dish in 25 years that was just ok my partner said the same about her dish i have to say the starter we shared was the same just lacked taste ...over the years The Gate has always amazed me taste wise and service wise ...we spent £55 hard earned money on a average meal. we left very deflated
Yummy & Delicious - well worth a visit. The accoustics were a little clattery for me, but otherwise very good.
The Gate is a nice restaurant with a vegetarian vibe. Very nice service, food is fine.
Nice place and food but service could definitely be improved.
Wonderful veggie and vegan food (the vegan cappuccino cheesecake is the best dessert I’ve EVER tasted!), we enjoyed the curry and aubergine dishes too - the lentil and vegetable soup was a little disappointing (thinner consistency than expected and a bit bland) and the mains portions are modest but a great ambience, friendly staff and would definitely recommend and return 💚🌱
Nice neighbourhood and ambience
Tasty food although service was terrible. Waited nearly an hour for our food without anyone offering us a drink or acknowledging us. Then they added a service charge.
As a non-veggie, I was impressed by the standards of starters and puddings at this leading non-meat restaurant. My main course, though, was really quite unappealing - a bit like a parody meat-eater's view of what veggie fare is like. And was a little surprised by how high the bill was!
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavour of the dishes at the Gate. The mushroom risotto was perfectly cooked and rich in flavour.
This is a fantastic restaurant that I would recommend to all regardless of whether you are vegetarian or not.
This is an excellent vegetarian (and vegan) establishment which we have used quite often since this branch of the chain opened. This was a lunch for 3 on a Monday, with not very many other customers. It is often much busier in the evening. We have got to know the menu quite well, but there were several interesting seasonal specials on offer to add variety.
Really great food however consistently poor inexperienced service with unacceptable food pacing.
Service was a bit ok, but other than that great menu and good food.
Great menu, food was spot on, reasonable wine list and great service
Excellent food - really fresh. Friendly and attentive staff.
Generally excellent. The only hitch was that their system had not registered the Open Table reservation!
Celebrated a friend's birthday here and we all really enjoyed it. Great menu, very tasty food, friendly service and a lovely ambience. Would highly recommend and not just to vegetarians!
Wonderful food. It was expensive and an enjoyable meal.
I've recently turned vegetarian, an it's good to find a restaurant with a great, tasty filling menu, Staff were great in my choose of meal and I loved every bite ..
Awesome food, delicious, recommend it :)
Really good service and exceptional food
Booked this restaurant for my London friends but never been ( and I'm not from London) so i was thrilled with this restaurant. Stylish but relaxed. Great choice of food. Very polite service. Reasonable price. Will be going back.
Food was great but we were disappointed that it was early in the evening and they had run out of the dessert on the tasting menu which we really wanted and in fact that was the reason we booked.
Good food - so so service
Great food... aubergines were undercooked and nothing is more unpleasant than raw aubergines.
If you are a vegan restaurant one thing to be learned well is roast your aubergines to perfection please
This is a vegetarian restaurant with lots of vegan choices too. I had the Thai Red Curry, and the Pecan & Quince Eton Mess for desert. Both were vegan, and excellent!
Great vegan and vegetarian option. Probably the best in london.
Unfortunately the gate did not live up to its fantastic reputation on this occasion.
The food was delightful as per usual when we received it. The service however was a let down and the spaces were rather cramped, as well as being constantly asked to move by the waiting staff so that they could serve other tables.
I think this is probably the most pleasant of the three Gate restaurants in terms of ambience. The same top-notch vegetarian nosh.
Initially the ad give was great. Toward the end of the night, I sat and waited to check out and was one of two tables. I had been finished with my meal for almost 20 minutes. They also ran out of the ginger for their honey, lemon and ginger tea and charged me for a pot of lemon and honey water. The food was delicious though.
I went with a friend who has been vegetarian since her teens. I'm a much more recent convert - 2 months! We both loved the Gate. I had the tacos and she had the gyoza - both fantastic and we shared the couscous fritters as a starter. Plus the cauliflower and sweet potato...
Didn't try the desserts (hardly surprising seeing how much we'd already eaten) but they looked amazing. Have no idea how the person on the next table managed the dessert sharing plate on their own!
Will definitely go back and try the other branches.
Delicious food, very attentitive waiter, if you go you must try the sweet potato wedges side, the spicing is on point. You can taste the experience with vegetarian food and it provides the perfect valence between aesthetics and substance, food was filling and beautiful to look at and to taste.
