Really good food and attentive waiting staff. I would thoroughly recommend the Goethe and Dragon.
There were several things on the menu that were no longer available
I asked for less pasta in my dish and was willing to pay the full price but I still got far too big a dish?
It was super busy and short staffed so it was really loud and noisy and it took a good 10 mins just to get a drink in the bar when we arrived, as so many people were placing food orders. I would suggest they have a section where you can order bar food and order just drinks.
Having eaten here before we were very disappointed this time. The food wasn't very good, and we had to ask 3 times for a glass of water.
Friendly service, nice atmosphere, fair value for money
Super food & service as always, love this pub for Sunday roast! Vegan options are amazing too.
Food was good and good value. 1 of our party had a steak and was very pleased. Service was a bit slow as seemed to be understaffed, very friendly staff though. Nice comfortable place. Overall worth a visit. We've booked another visit with some more of our friends in couple of weeks time.
Booked a table for our anniversary via open table app and received confirmation and text. Upon arrival we were told they had no record of the booking and the manager simply said sorry nothing he could do and refused to give us a table even thought the place was virtually empty. We've eaten there many times before using open table but won't be going back. One ruined anniversary spent ringing other restaurants trying to get a last minute table elsewhere.
A good, comfortable, friendly, good value experience. Good location on a good road net.
The food was lovely and very tasty. The staff were helpful, chatty and welcoming.
Great atmosphere, clean and tidy.
Good food and atmosphere. Decor . A generally a nice place to go .
We always enjoy this restaurant. The menu changes regularly and the staff are attentive.
We have visited the George and Dragon Mountnessing before and looked forward to returning. We were not disappointed, we had excellent service, a superb meal (lunchtime)
Thank you to all concerned in making our visit so enjoyable
Having reserved a table on line the waitress could find no trace of the reservation on the system. We overheard other diners having the same problem.
Over the years of living in Brentwood we have visited
All 4 of us had a lovely meal
The service was slow due to under staffed and a garden party to serve aswell
The waiter and waitresses were very pleasant, even though it was the extra busy, a specially Jane who helped with a couple of good choices and food and drinks
We will come back again
Have visited on numerous occasions over the years. Always a good experience. Good food and service.
We Both enjoyed the meal very much, and I have booked a table for next week to meet up with another friend.
Dish ordered did not arrive. Dish not ordered arrived. Cold food. Very disappointing.
Lovely food, but service was appalling. We waited ages for our second round of drinks. They finally arrived after we had finished our main course. My husband never had a spoon with his soup & had to wait ages to get one.
The worst meal I have had for sometime. Looked nothing like as described, starter a chopped up mushroom in a tasteless inch of grey liquid. The main course of lamb koftas looked like they had come from Iceland with dollops of unrecognisable tasteless accompaniments. My friends meal was no better. I think the chef had gone home. I wish we had.
Excellent waiter service. Thought food was expensive for what it was.
Restraunt was very good but the booking did not get to them. Apparently there are some glitches with Open Table bookings. That said the manager was very helpful and sorted out a table for us very quickly. The rest went very smoothly, great staff not rushed, will definately use again.
Shown to our table on time, food was lovely; but service was slow .
Booked through open table online only to discover that no table was available when we arrived despite a confirmation email. Fortunately staff were really lovely & found us a table . DO NOT use open table as they are totally unreliable.
Been here many times different sessions and always food is excellent.
I have dined her many times before and never been disappointed! My friend ordered from the new Vegan menu and was thoroughly impressed! Service was outstanding and our waitess was able to make some great recommendations. The background music was exactly the right volume for us to have a conversation without having to shout over each other. If so reasons like this which keep me coming back!
Had high hopes when ordering, the starters were good but it went rapidly downhill after that. .' Twice cooked chips' are meant to be crispy, these probably had been twice cooked but unfortunatly several days apart! The Limp oil soaked barely coloured potatoes were unedible. The server noticed that we hadn't touched some of the food but didn't ask if anything was wrong, I can only assume that it was normal. Won't be going back again even with a fifty quid off voucher!!
Great food, excellent service, nice festive atmosphere.
Booked with open table and had a confirmation but when arriving at the restaurant no table reserved , manager told us not his problem, will not use open table or go back to the George and dragon !
Gorgeous location, great food, awesome service!!!!
The food was of a standard well out classing the price. We both had some of the best dishes we have ever had, at any price. Exceptional.
The service was not as good as expected
First time to this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. Staff very attentive and food was delicious. My only gripe was background music was just slightly too loud causing people to raise their voices were conversing with others. The restaurant was packed which is always a good sign but not the place to go if you want a peaceful meal. This was Saturday night and I'm sure this wouldn't be true during other times and days of the week. We will definitely return.
It was for a get together meal with 3 friends.
The waiter was very attentive and made sure that we had a quiet table in a corner of the main big room as the restaurant was very busy with several big dinner parties.
He offered us some drinks and a light mezze while we waited for one person to arrived.
The atmosphere of this pub/restaurant is very pleasant.
The food was excellent. I would recommend the Duck crispy, sticky salad. Very good portion and excellent quality .
We took are time and chatted a long time afterward while having coffees and never were rushed to leave the premise.
I would recommend this restaurant and I will go back there again soon.
Fathers day - Waitress Service poor and the waitress had an attitude problem and everything we asked for seemed a problem - the mains came up before we had finished our starter. We asked for some seasonal veg (daughter did not like cabbage) and was presented with a large bowl of peas. We did not cause the fuss but the attitude of our waitress was very poor. On this basis I think I will take my customer elsewhere for future occasions.. we were not felt to feel special on fathers days. :(
The food was delicious and service very pleasant. My only suggestions relate to serving style. I prefer to eat food from a plate rather than a slate - the surface is unpleasant when combined with metal cutlery. I ate a lobster and tiger prawn pot which was delicious but difficult to extract from the small Kilner style jar. These were minor points and my family and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Will certainly return.
